[Kitty is still in her bedroom where she's been for the past two months when the video opens.]

If the timestamps I'm seeing are right then I'm surprised I don't have a long beard by now. That's a Rip Van Winkle joke for any of the non-earthlings who think maybe I can grow a beard.

So, I'm Kitty Pryde for anyone who just showed up. Just so you know I still have seniority over you. I could take your lunch money any time I want. And hi. Any new mutants? Maybe some Avengers who should be mutants, but they aren't because timelines are funny that way? [Wanda and Pietro were strange, okay?]

I haven't flipped through much of the network yet. Feel free to do a roll call. Let me know you're here—new, old, returned, twice baked, whatever. Did I miss anything fun? Maybe some birthdays? Oh, right, like mine. [She picks up some pretty and unusual stones and nudges an illustrated physics book. She speaks softer.] Maybe someone remembered.

[Scrolling through some old network posts and her eyes widen slightly.] Maybe I missed something not so fun...

[Her body feels lethargic and uninterested in all this moving she wants to do. But she's been out of commission and she feels the need to catch up. So she'll be looking for crewmates and visitors.]

You definitely missed some... things. A singing planet, asteroid hit it. Most of us in the fleet were helping evacuate the planet. [He opts not to mention how often Merlan may or may not be visiting.]

[What are the odds they got everyone off a planet in time though?] I guess that must have distracted you from pranking me while I slept. [No, it didn't stop her from making a joke. That was the only thing that got her through the dark times at home.]

[Though, Keith looked tired. Less so than right after everything had finished, but he was still working on some other things involved. He wasn't done, yet, and he had a feeling the crazy stuff wasn't done, yet, either.]

No, it's not sounding like it. [And she only knows what happened in the biggest, broadest terms. She doesn't know anyone on the fleet died yet. She doesn't know about Kurt. On the plus side, it makes it a bit less heavy to chat up her role call.]

Not sure if I should be glad I missed it or not. [Of course she's not glad. She would have wanted to help. Though it also would have sucked to miss a paradise of fun.]

(A new face - with a shock of pink hair - will greet Kitty. LightningClaire is dressed like security, with various pieces of armor incorporated to her uniform and at least one gun in easy reach. She is resting at the moment, arms crossed over her chest.)

[She pauses for a moment finding something familiar in the way this woman looks. Maybe she was in her last intergalactic abduction with mysterious overlords or maybe there were just a lot of pink-haired ladies there. Both, it was both. But as it is she can't remember her name, so even if she had been in Marina—or a version of her had—she was starting fresh.]

I mean people like me. Born on Earth with DNA that triggers powers usually at puberty, but you know, just whenever it's least convenient mostly. Did that mean anything to you?

Kitty, you're awake! I'm so glad. Snuggles missed you.

Um... some stuff happened. A planet kind of got blown up and we helped evacuate everyone? That's mostly it I think?

I'd say I missed him too, but I was pretty firmly sure it was just the next day until I saw it definitely wasn't.

[She takes a breath because she's been holding it together but only just barely and she's not sure if that thread of control is going to hold while talking to Wrath of all people. She also has a strong bond with Kurt. Stronger than any of them were admitting and she's not sure where they are now with Wrath's return since Kitty checked out for two-months herself. But there were feelings there and those don't just disappear even if they did something dumb like not continuing on for fear of getting hurt again. Worse. Deeper.

But that doesn't matter now, does it because Kurt's gone. It still doesn't feel real to her. Maybe she spent so long living in a virtual reality that it feels like that's just their opening hand. He's "dead" for now until they change the game again. Bring him back with no memories or something worse. She's sad to lose him. Adrift without him. Desperate to kick his ass for dying and more so for that unfinished message he sent before he died telling her about every horrible thing he did before.

And yet there are so many people greeting her genuinely happy to see her again that she finds she does smile back. She's happy to see them too even without the gap in time they feel. Maybe it will settle in when she is alone again. When everyone returns to their own concerns and it's just her and her room full of pets and belongings of people who have disappeared.]

I... I heard. I heard about all of it. [She meets Wrath's eyes looking sympathetic.] I'm sorry about Kurt. I don't know how much he ever said, but I know you were very important to him. You were good for him too. [Her voice breaks a bit on that last part.]

[Vash saw Kitty's post but doesn't respond. What he needs to say should be in person. He heads straight to his Co-Captain's room.

If the door is shut he'll knock and wait to be welcomed in. Otherwise he gives a small smile when he sees Kitty. He's genuinely glad to see her awake, but he doesn't want to share the news he has to give.

His neutral expression is a smile, but even Vash can't hide the fact that there is very little joy behind it.]

I'm glad to see you're awake.

[He hesitates from there. Unsure how to start a: your friends died and I had a chance to save them, conversation.]

[She lets him in with a smile.]

Me too. Apparently I've been really bad at that lately. Probably all those late nights catching up with me. [Yeah, she knows it isn't that. She even gets the vibe that Vash has news with a capital N for her, but she still smiles back because it's good to see he's still here. It's so hard to know how much has changed in two months. She could have lost any number of friends and crewmates. She already tried calling Winn's old number just in case he'd come back while she was out. Of course he's not here though. He wouldn't have left her side.]

How was all that solo captaining? I assume you at least had a hand puppet of me or something to come up with the occasional order? [Because she is soooo order-y on a regular basis.]

[Even with some of the heavy things she's learned now it's really good to see familiar faces. She didn't exactly have the capacity to miss them during her slumber, but she realizes in that span of time how much could have changed and how much did change so it's good to have people who still know her and who are glad to see her again.]

Well, he has a small ornament behind his back when he knocks. He got it on the planet when he and Victor went shopping... he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with them but he had liked them so much he went back for several. Now they were the only ones left, he was certain. Kitty might like this one and he had bad news for her so maybe it could help her feel better?

Oh geez, what is he thinking? He has to tell her Kurt died. Kurt died. How can a flipping metal ornament do anything to ameliorate that? But... he had to try. He was part of her crew, she needed someone to tell her, not to be left to find out on her own. He noticed his hands were shaking and he tightened the one around the ornament behind his back... and balled the other in a fist as he knocked on her door.]</sub>

Kitty...? Kitty, it's Yuri... are you awake? Is this a bad time?

[He is the bravest little toaster human for being ready to tell her best friend and only connection truly from her world died while she was busy sleeping for no good reason. Fortunately, she contacted Chekov shortly before making the announcement and in the course of talking to him learned of a few of the deaths including Kurt's and Remy's. She isn't okay. But also hasn't fully sunk in. She just woke up and this news doesn't feel reel despite deeply trusting Chekov and not doubting him for a moment. There's also the possibility they'll return either from a different timeline or simply given fresh life the way people were in her last prison. Of course, there it only took a day's time and it's been over a week from what she's heard. Not knowing what else to do she just moves forward. The tears will find her when they're ready.

She opens the door and even manages a smile at him.] I like that you think I might voluntarily take a nap at this point. I may never sleep again. [Though she was tired from the coma as strange as that felt.]

Hi, Yuri. Miss me? Or possibly planning to kill me? [She tilts her head a little as if trying to follow his arm back behind his back, but she can't see what he's holding. Sorry about the dark life that led to her jokingly assuming it's a knife or something.]

Hey, you. [She smiles at him gently. By this point she's heard a lot of things that should have stolen her smile completely, but it's good to see he's still here. Chekov assured her he was, but things can happen quickly here. It didn't take the entire two months to twist the fleet upside down after all.]

I guess I'm late. I heard I missed...everything. [She knows about Furiosa. She also knows about her Kurt. It hasn't exactly hit her yet. She keeps pushing on.]
