[Kitty is still in her bedroom where she's been for the past two months when the video opens.]

If the timestamps I'm seeing are right then I'm surprised I don't have a long beard by now. That's a Rip Van Winkle joke for any of the non-earthlings who think maybe I can grow a beard.

So, I'm Kitty Pryde for anyone who just showed up. Just so you know I still have seniority over you. I could take your lunch money any time I want. And hi. Any new mutants? Maybe some Avengers who should be mutants, but they aren't because timelines are funny that way? [Wanda and Pietro were strange, okay?]

I haven't flipped through much of the network yet. Feel free to do a roll call. Let me know you're here—new, old, returned, twice baked, whatever. Did I miss anything fun? Maybe some birthdays? Oh, right, like mine. [She picks up some pretty and unusual stones and nudges an illustrated physics book. She speaks softer.] Maybe someone remembered.

[Scrolling through some old network posts and her eyes widen slightly.] Maybe I missed something not so fun...

[Her body feels lethargic and uninterested in all this moving she wants to do. But she's been out of commission and she feels the need to catch up. So she'll be looking for crewmates and visitors.]

I was holding onto them so that they could be reborn in the new world. (Since she was pretty much unstoppable, they were ensured a place.) We killed him. He was the reason so many suffered; he also wanted to keep certain souls from ever being reborn. I couldn't allow that.

My name is Claire Farron. I also go by Lightning.

[It sounds slightly less concerning now?]

Kitty Pryde. I guess I mentioned that part already though. I go by Shadowcat too, but not for awhile. [Hasn't been much of a need for it since leaving her world.]

Nice to meet you. How's it feel to be human again after all that? [Why stop with the deep questions now?]

(Does it? She speaks about all of this so calmly, but it was kind of a big deal. Good thing she wasn't completely herself at the time.)

I guess you're one of these mutants, right? (Shadowcat and Lightning. They sound like they need to be friends.)

...good. Though now I'm kind of missing the extra boost. (With Snow the way he is and Serah being present at all.) I've never been weak thankfully.

[By degrees? She has a very low bar and a shaky grasp on what happened.]

I am in all my occasionally intangible glory.

Being weak isn't the worst thing. [Oh, it will get you super killed. But her enemy back home was a purveyor of survival or the fittest, so she wasn't about to look down on the vulnerable.]

(It's hard to put into words, honestly. There were centuries of build up, countless battles, a long, crystallized slumber...)

Intangibility is a nice trick to have up your sleeve.

(Weakness for her...was always in her heart. Physically...) All that matters is I can fight until the last man if needed. I know what matters most.

[So, just your average Thursday then?]

It definitely can be. Just think of all the surprise hugs I can get out of.

[She tilts her head thoughtfully.] Lots of fighting back home?

(It was starting to become a thing.)

(No, she doesn't sound a little...bashful? Embarrassed? Claire Farron isn't thrown by hugs.)

Constant fighting until... The world was reborn. Then it stopped.

Depends on the hugger. [She's actually gotten a lot better about accepting affection and showing it. But when she first arrived an overly enthusiastic vampire tried to glomp on to her and fell through her to the floor. She'd happily hug him now if he returned.]

Did you say the world was reborn? [That sounds eerily similar to something she tired to help do to their world before the end—her end, not its end.]

I guess that is a factor to consider. (Poor vampire. Claire could use an overly enthusiastic glomper. That's about the only thing that will familiarize her with...physical affection in general.)

I did. (It's a nice change when your world is going to hell in a hand-basket.) It's a common theme, isn't it?

More common than I'd expect for something so intense, but not really what I'd call common. Happen a lot where you're from?
