Who: Kirk + Anyone!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Yes, on the Tourist and Iskaulit
When: Now!
[ Video ]
[ The video opens to Kirk's bedroom, his hair damp from what one would hope is a shower. A small curl has escaped against his forehead. He doesn't look particularly grim, but he doesn't seem overjoyed to be awake either. ]
Good morning, everyone. Looks like I'm finally awake. For those who don't know me or possibly forgot I was here given how long I was alseep, I'm James Tiberius Kirk, captain of the Tourist - but just call me Jim.
According to my first mate, I've been asleep for a month. And I've missed quite a bit, as it turns out.
[ He took a breath, his voice sounding a touch guilty, even though going into a coma wasn't his choice. ]
I would appreciate a check in with everyone, especially my crew - new and old members. And if anyone wants to talk, I'm here.
[ Action - Tourist ]
[ Awake and showered, now he needed coffee. Coffee and a real meal. There had been... distractions, before now. He made his way to the kitchen to see if he could coax the coffee maker into being kind and cooperating for once, and that done he took up a spot where he could look out at the stars gliding by - and hopefully catch anyone else coming and going.
Once he had finished the coffee, he would start a walk around the ship, looking to catch anyone he hadn't already and get a feel back for her. ]
[ Action - Iskaulit ]
[ More than anything else he craved exercise. Whatever Atroma did while they were in their comas had kept off any major atrophy, but his body still felt tight and unused. It was certainly uncomfortable, to say the least, and after being told of what had happened he didn't want to be caught in anything less than prime condition.
So the Iskaulit went to avail himself of the facilities, running long laps and then switching to weights and back again. If he saw anyone he would talk, of course. He might even slide into the bar at some point. Most professionals would say that going for a drink after waking up from a coma wasn't the best idea, but considering what he had been told? He thought it a necessary medicine. ]

[He smirks a little but that's an actual worry, come to think of it...]
You know they have bad blood, right? I don't think they'll outright come to blows, but they get like angry cats around each other.
no subject
Yeah, I got the idea from his tone when he told me you were both here.
[ Though so far the reason he had thought why hadn't exactly come up. So maybe he had misinterpreted that. He hadn't pressed Fenris for many details at the time. ]
Should we start keeping water bottles around like fire extinguishers? What's their beef anyways?
no subject
Not a terrible idea.
[...then sighs.]
Fenris has a bad history with mages in the country he's from. The Imperium is a Magocracy and a lot of the mages there abuse that power. In the south, where Anders and I are from, it's the opposite; mages are oppressed, imprisoned, and executed or worse just for being what we are and Anders has had it pretty terribly. He's very vocal about being for mage rights and freedoms and Fenris takes offense to that over what he's been through. It's all very personal for both of them and they're just.. diametrically opposed.

We're going to have to try and keep them as far apart from each other as possible, aren't we?

[He's not going to explain to Kirk how that very thinking is what lead Fenris to stand with the Templers in Wolfe's version of Thedas, how it's the exact thing that caused Fenris' death, but it does color Wolfe's thoughts here.]
Maybe force them to spend some time together with a mediator?
[Only that sounds just as terrible. He shrugs helplessly.]
I've really got no idea. They're actually very similar, they both just refuse to see it.

[ Kirk sighed, rubbing his temples as he already imagined the situation. Knowing Fenris as he did, the elf did not deal well with conflict, and if someone goaded him and stoked that irritation and rage? Damn. ]
Atroma has a sense of humor, I see.

[He exhales through pursed lips, sounding a bit like an exasperated horse.]
I don't know. Maybe this'll be good for them, force them to work together in an environment where they're not going to run away from each other. It'll just be very touch and go at first.
[He feels responsible, both of these men being from his world and everything. Or as close to as anyone.]
I'll try and mediate. I have some experience in that arena.
[Sort of. A small amount. Mostly he'd taken Anders everywhere and left Fenris to his own devices but he doesn't quite intend to do that here.]

You had to know Fenris was on this ship before you came over. Why come over here if Anders dislikes him so much?
[ And gives them both headaches. ]
no subject
[Adalwolfe says it flatly, a little put out. He knows Kirk is just asking a very logical question, but when he's been asked it twice now, it makes him feel quite a bit unwelcome.]
And to be fair, it's Fenris that had - has - a problem with mages in general that he was very vocal about when we met him. He's actually improved a little. I think.
[Maybe? It's hard to tell.]
no subject
[ Can you blame him? It's a logical question. He isn't upset either is here, as he likes them both, but, well, one does have to raise eyebrows at choosing to go where there is doubtlessly going to be fighting. ]
I am aware of his dislike of them, yes, though to be equally fair he has reason. Not that I think Anders is anything like the people that did to him, but that kind of trauma - that's not something you get over easy.
[ He would have to believe Wolfe on that part. ]
Hopefully it doesn't come to anything. She's not bit, but surely they can avoid each other well enough?
no subject
[He doesn't even want to say Danarius' name, but the way he says "that", like something disgusting, should tell Kirk all he needs about what he knows of Fenris' past.]
I don't know that avoiding each other is a completely viable solution. They could barely avoid each other in an entire city, much less on a small ship. It's like sharing a house. Even so, I think with Anders' changes from when Fenris knew him and with Fenris evening out a bit, it should be alright in the long run. Just... somewhat rocky at first.
[Changes being that Anders doesn't have an angry spirit living inside him anymore, a fact that's really been helpful overall for Anders' problem solving skills as a whole.]
no subject
[ Kirk nodded, seeing the logic in that. He knew that them avoiding each other permanently simply wasn't possible, though at least keeping out of each other's private space should be. He supposed the ship was simply going to be lively for awhile, wasn't it? ]
Rocky might be understatement from the look on your face. Let's at least try to keep them from killing each other please?
no subject
[He gives a mock salute, but there's an earnestness to it. When he offered to mediate, he meant it. Maybe he can keep the peace this time.]
