Then this will be either an uncomfortable arrangement or an opportunity to make the future better than the past.

You're a good person. Surely Anders will be able to see that once he comes to know you better.

I am determined because I have known him for years. Nothing will ever change. It is ...considerate of you to think that way, but things are as they are. He hates me about as much as I hate him.

Then I'm sorry that you will be forced to endure each other's company. [Even if, in truth, he thinks that any two people can be on at least civil terms given a little time and non-optional space-sharing. Maybe he'll reconsider that opinion if he learns more about their situation.]

And if this is as unpleasant as you predict, I'm sorry for the rest of us as well.

Maybe you won't believe me when I say this, but you were a good captain. The Tourist didn't lose anyone on the planet... that is in part because of you.

[That is...actually good to hear. Especially after Anders' comments on the matter. He smiles, faintly, but it's there. ]

[Or he would have got himself killed. Probably that one. ]

Yes, well. I didn't have a particular inclination towards any of us dying there. There's a great difference between heroism and being reckless.

That difference escapes a surprising number of people. I spoke with two of the fleet's recently deceased shortly before the destruction of the planet... I think that I failed to explain it well enough.

Well...given what happened to them, I doubt they would pay much heed anyway. There are always people who will risk their lives, no matter what.

It was. And unexpected. I thought that things like that--like Lyuku--didn't happen here.

This is the first time they have allowed an entire world be destroyed. Given they have spoken nothing on the matter, I am certain they planned it. It seems they are upping their game- though for what means I dread to think.

Their game is already too high. I would prefer it if they would lower it. [But seriously.] ...Would they go so far as to intentionally destroy a planet? They haven't seemed that malevolent.

I do not know. It seems strange they have remained silent on the matter. Normally, when mistakes happen, they show their hand a little- calibrations, or what happened to Beau and Diamond. Their silence is...rather telling.
