An easy thing to do with so many ships.

[Especially since Pavel largely kept to his quarters at first. For some reason, waking up in weird universe number three where most of the people he had met previously didn't remember him and finding his other-universe girlfriend madly in love with someone else didn't really motivate him to be social.]

And communications lessons... although those may not be as enjoyable as fabulous breakfasts.

Right, lessons. It should be illuminating, at the very least.

I certainly hope that it will be. I also hope that you don't plan to learn anything about diplomacy from me. Of all of the aspects of this job, that is the one that I know the least about.

Diplomacy, no. According to a bunch of the Kirkwall nobility, that's my forte anyway. Maybe we can exchange those skills, communications for diplomacy.

[He's not sure why he even says that. He doesn't feel particularly diplomatic but everyone always says he is so... well, sure. Why not.]

I would like that. As it is, I rely mostly on politeness in diplomatic situations... and, if they go poorly, an ability to run fast. At least one of those approaches would fail me here.

Actually politeness and running are most of it in my experience.

[He laughs.]

But it's also knowing your audience, and knowing what they want. You're not going to tempt a dog with a fish, so you'd best find a bone. Or better yet, a steak.
