[A red haired young woman appears on the screen, smiling as she leans against a wall. She's a little winded with some sweat on her forehead, but she seems contented all the same. Exhaling, she speaks what's on her mind.]

I don't think I ever realized how big the Iskaulit was until just now. Planning out a jogging path ahead of time might've saved me from getting lost on a couple occasions. [Kaname chuckles at herself.] It's still worthwhile despite that. But what's really striking is how barren it feels compared to the Elysion. Maybe it'll just take time...

[Her voice trails off as she straightens before addressing the network again.]

Anyway, I'd like to see more of it I think. If anyone would like to join me for a jog or a dip in the pool later, I'd love the company. Possibly a movie, too. Ah, that does remind me about the way stations. I should go shopping.

That's true as well. [She chuckles as well, clearly amused at the line of conversation.] Perhaps a novelization of one of the movies is in order.

[Kaname nods, even if she knows he can't see it.] I know, and I try not to.

In fact, I'm headed down to the Space Bar to get something to eat. If you're headed that way, would you care to join me?

[He shakes his head, still obviously amused.]

From what I understand, it's usually the other way around. A book first and then a movie, both of differing degrees of decency.

I've never been to that establishment, truth be told. I usually prepare most of the meals on my own ship and eat there. Or on the planets when we have less adventurous stops as our last system. Perhaps a little research is in order.

[NEW RECIPEH TIME!]

Really? I've heard it both ways. Of course, books from movies aren't nearly as popular for obvious reasons.

[She makes a hmm sound in response.] Well, the captain of my ship owns and operates it, so I frequent more than I might have otherwise. Still, it's a good spot for a meal with your alcohol. [That was a joke.]

And my name's Kaname Buccaneer. It's nice to meet you.

[Kaname certainly sounds friendly if nothing else.]

I don't believe I've ever read a book based on a movie before.

[Of course, he's not a huge movie fan either, but reading is a bit limited, for obvious reasons.]

That would be a good reason to frequent it, yes, but I would be honored to join you, Miss Buccaneer.

[He holds out his unoccupied hand for her to take in a handshake or not.]

[He should be able to pick up on the amusement in her voice right away when she takes his hand in a shake. Her grip's firm and professional but not overly tough.]

I'm glad to hear that, Mister Scientia. [Only a little teasing. Maybe.] Shall we?

If I were to do an audio recording of a book about a movie, wouldn't I save myself trouble by just listening to the movie as it plays?

[He isn't put off by her teasing tone. He is used to it, what with Gladio being his close friend for as many years as he has. If anything, it makes he like her a bit more.

Even when she calls him by his name like that, he can't help but smile himself.]

If you'd like, but I was thinking that descriptors of what's going are better than possibly vague sound effects. That's simply my take, however.

[Dropping his hand, she hums amusedly.] As long as you call me Kaname. And it's in the direction you were already headed.

[So she begins their journey.]

Perhaps, but my world is mostly defined by sound and distance. Either way would be fine, I suppose.

[And just like that, Ignis has decided that he likes this woman for her sense of obvious humor and intelligence.

There are plenty of women of substance on the Fleet. More than he'd known back on Eos, that's for sure.]

Then, Miss Kaname, it's good that I nearly ran into you.

That makes it sound so lonely... Why not use proximity instead? [Her tone's a thoughtful one, not pushing for one or the other. It's just a way to keep the conversation going.]

No Miss, either. Manners are very nice, but given we did almost run into each other, we might be beyond that stage by now.

[Turning a corner, she continues to talk, figuring he should pick up on the change in the way the sound travels.]

So what do you do back home?

And yet it is anything but lonely. [He isn't allowed the luxury of wallowing in misery.]

Perhaps you're correct, but a lifetime of polite conversation with strangers is a difficult habit to break.

As for what I do back home. I am a... I suppose you could call me a retainer for my country's ruler. And his personal chef. [And babysitter.
Mediator...]

I'm glad to hear that. [And she is.]

That's true enough. Miss Kaname makes me sound like a teacher, and I'm not sure how to feel about that one.

[Besides amused at least. She makes a curious sounding "hmm" noise when he mentions that.] It sounds interesting at the very least. Do you get along well?

[Since she isn't pushing how "lonely" she thinks his life is, he won't continue with that line of conversation. It was already pointed out during Calibrations that his early life was lonely and sad and that not a lot of people see that it has gotten better for him, despite it not changing that much.]

Teachers are necessary for society. There is no shame in being one, as we all end up instructing someone else at some point in our lives. The only way to avoid it is to avoid people.

[Spoken like a man who knows what he's talking about. And if she knew Noctis, she'd know it was true.]

He's not a hard man to cooperate with, so I would say that yes, we get along.

[Okay, see, Noctis is his best friend as well as his king. And he is Noctis' #1 supporter forever and forever. (Behind the man's wife, that is.)]

There are worse things than being friends with one's king.

Ah, I didn't mean it that way. I'm not certain I can imagine myself in the position, that's all.

[Mentioning cooperation is one thing, but the addition of the word friends has her smiling.]

Many worse things, if the way you're talking about him is any indication. [There's definite amusement in her voice as they walk.]

You sound young, Kaname. I'm sure that if you decided to take up the position, you'd have plenty of young and eager students ready to follow your every word.

[He is thinking of Prompto as he says that. Not even lying. Because she seems like a perfectly lovely person already.]

I am, perhaps, a little biased, but I've known him since we were children.

[He follows along, steps sure and steady though he uses his walking stick to make certain he's not walking into walls.]

I'll take that as a compliment. [There's humor in her tone, so she's hardly put off.] Maybe, but I'm already doing what I love. There's no reason to change things now.

[Kaname makes a humming noise when Ignis mentions their childhood.]

Biased might be a term for it. Or it simply gives you a unique insight others might not have. Maybe it wholly depends on your mood.

[She figures it's a good topic to continue with.] So what are your main duties as his retainer? Besides cooking for him.

Well, I certainly didn't mean it to be offensive. However, if you've already found the thing you love to do, teachings others will only have to be a side venture for you.

[Because like he said, teaching is something that will happen whether it's planned or not.]

I suppose that is another way to look at it. Although, I'm sure that one of the other members of our party would definitely say that I am just biased by spending so much time with him over the years.

As for my duties, I am actually his battle tactician and keep track of all the emissaries he might need to know from our neighboring areas.
