[With the tragedy of Lyuku and the entire Eyuzi system behind the Fleet, the crew of the Blue Fish and their friends are now settling into a new routine while they drift along in the relative safety of space.

As one of the few ships that didn't suffer a loss of crew during their little excursion, the crew can safely go about their duties, unless something attacks that is.]

Yeah, that's why I waited till the captain went to bed. [ he grins. ] Kidding. Actually, so far it hasn't been a problem. I'm guessin' Atroma's just that good at keepin' oxygen levels where they should be? Or somethin'? Beats me.

[Billy fiddles idly with his mug, nursing a little sip.]

Probably better not to think about it. You don't seem too alarmed about being caught, so... I take it you're open about the whole magic-fire thing?

Yeah, I am. It's not even a secret back home, so, no reason for it to be one here, right?

[ At least, it feels that simple to him. ]

Meanwhile, you don't seem too shocked about seein' it. Are you used to magic bein' a thing, too?

Could say that, yeah.

[He could be more cautious about it - he doesn't know this guy, after all - but it's so rare to hang out with casual magic users that he's kind of excited about the prospect. So, after a moment's pause for thought, he lifts his hand, one finger pointed upwards like a rod, a little arc of lightning curling around it and sparking harmlessly towards the ceiling.]

[ Eithan sees that, and immediately grins again. He gives a low whistle. ]

Nice. Electric element, or somethin' more to it than that?

[ Since he's been here, he's been able to learn about all kinds of magic, so he's pretty much stopped making assumptions. He's also perpetually curious to learn more about, well, all of it! ]

More reality-bending than any specific element. Lightning's just the one I'm most comfortable with.

[Past experience has made him leery of fire, and the rest... eh, hasn't come up as much.]

That sounds awesome... consider me kinda jealous. I mean, I love what I've got, 'course - but what mage wouldn't wanna mess with a little bit of everything?

[ He's being a nerd. Don't mind him and his nerdery. It'll get out of his system at some point. Maybe. Eventually. ]

Um... well, don't be too jealous. It has its ups and downs.

[like it's great to be able to summon banned candy Kinder Surprise whenever you feel a craving but it also kind of sucks when two full super hero teams want you and your family dead because they think you may or may not go power-crazy and try to destroy the world one day.]

[ He doesn't know about the family thing. Obviously. But he can see how there would be other drawbacks. ]

So does reality-bending mean like, space or time stuff too? Or...?

[ Are you ready for like a billion questions? Because there might be like a billion questions. ]

K... kiiiind of? I try not to dip into that stuff too much. Way too much potential for bad things to happen. I've done a few cross-dimensional spells? That probably counts.

Yeah, no, don't wanna break existence. Makes sense. [ He's amused, though. ] So what makes cross-dimensional spells different?

Mostly just the cross-dimensional aspect of 'em. Which, yeah, sounds oversimplified, but it's true. Let's say you want to magic yourself a piece of cake- you wish for it, call up your magic, and there it is. But if you want a piece of cake from another dimension, you gotta zero in on it- the dimension, that particular cake... then it's the same spell after that.

[He shrugs vaguely.]

I don't know how to explain it, I just kind of do it. I wasn't formally trained or anything.
