[With the tragedy of Lyuku and the entire Eyuzi system behind the Fleet, the crew of the Blue Fish and their friends are now settling into a new routine while they drift along in the relative safety of space.

As one of the few ships that didn't suffer a loss of crew during their little excursion, the crew can safely go about their duties, unless something attacks that is.]

Even animals can't ignore that comet in the sky. And I wonder if they were able to hear the planet. Some said they could hear it sing.

Good point... Didn't think about if animals could actually hear it. Hell, maybe they could hear it better than us... they say animals and kids hear ghosts and spirits better too, right?

[ At least, that's what they say in his world. ... Also, yes, being all mage-y means he definitely heard the planet from time to time. Also that damn nightmare... ugh. ]

Uh... do they? I'm not sure about animals hearing them and what that means, but hearing spirits in my world is very much not a good thing.

Really? I mean, it was usually a bad thing back home, but there were like... some good ones? Kinda? But also they were mostly just stories.

We have good spirits in Thedas, too, but they don't come around much. They rarely bother with mortals unless they're sought out. Most of the time, if a spirit's talking to you, it's a demon, and they're up to no good.

[ Mmm, demon. Right. Different kind of demon than what he is. Different worlds. All that kinda stuff. ]

So like... manipulative or somethin'? That sucks. [ Beat. ] In that case yeah, I really hope children and animals can't see 'em better, geez...

Very much so. [It's a dangerous, complicated issue back home that she's not sure she wants to get into.] What of your world? You mention knowing of spirits, too.

[deviances]

Yeah, we've got a lot of different kinds. Some good, some bad, but most of 'em are just... mischievous. Sometimes even just plain aggravatin'. [ Snort. ] It takes somethin' really nasty born out of some really negative intentions to actually wanna harm people. But it can happen - I did see it once.

Born out of negative intentions? [It sooort of sounds similar to the spirits back home, but she suspected there was a world of difference at the same time.] How do your spirits come to be?

[deviances]

Well, uh, supposedly, spirits are emotions made tangible by magic. The stronger the emotion, and the more magic there is around it, the greater the spirit. [ He shakes his head. ] Dunno how accurate that actually is, though. I don't think anyone's really proven anything about how they come to be, just that they do, sometimes.

What about your world? Where do your spirits come from?

That sounds somewhat similar to the spirits in Thedas. They exist in the Fade, the realm of spirits and where our souls go when they dream. Spirits embody an emotion or ideal: rage, pride, justice, compassion, faith...

Wow, yeah, that is similar... Though if ours are from somewhere specific? Like your Fade? I definitely haven't heard about it. I think that'd make sense, though.

But, you go where the spirits are every time you dream? Wow. What's that like?

You don't know where your spirits come from? [How odd.] Do they just... appear or something?

Honestly, it feels the same as it does here. Which makes me wonder how anyone dreams here. Beverly once said something about our brains doing it, but honestly it flew over my head. Back home, the things and people you see in your dreams are the work of spirits as your soul walks through the Fade.
