[With the tragedy of Lyuku and the entire Eyuzi system behind the Fleet, the crew of the Blue Fish and their friends are now settling into a new routine while they drift along in the relative safety of space.

As one of the few ships that didn't suffer a loss of crew during their little excursion, the crew can safely go about their duties, unless something attacks that is.]

It's tough being separated from those you love. But you should know that since you've been here for a while.

[Of course, he has a lot of tumultuous feelings on the subject as of late. Luckily, he doesn't know Snow enough to dump all of that on him- so lucky escape buddy! ]

It is. Especially when you haven't seen them for a while back home, either.

It's...uh... something.

[That's not offensive, right? Diplomatic? Because, wow, that's not a person at all. No way in hell.]

Yeah, I know what that's like. Been a while since I've seen a lot of people back home myself.

Yeah? It's...weird, isn't it? You miss 'em, but you don't really want them stuck in a place like this, either.

Exactly. You wanna be with them because you like spending time with them, but then they'd be stuck and you'd feel guilty for forcing them in a crap situation at the same time.

So, you end up being alone and hating everything.

I wouldn't say I hate everything but- well, sometimes I just miss home. It's not really any easier there but- I dunno. It's familiar.

[That's not really the problem, though. ]

And then sometimes, I remember I've spent three years of my life here and I guess this has become my new familiar.

[Snow crosses his arms over his chest and watches as Sokka thinks it through.]

People can get used to anything given enough time, sure, but there's literally no place that compares to the world you're from. Even if that sucks, it's home.

[While Snow doesn't want to go back to Cocoon, a great deal of his "Happy Life" revolved around it.]

True. Home is...something important, something worth cherishing, right?

[But then, he thinks of the Starks. ]

...Except when it isn't. I'd like to offer people who don't have anything to go back to a way out. Somewhere else to live, another world, maybe. If we can work out how they caught us in the first place, it shouldn't be hard to reverse engineer that.

You said that before.

[Just because Snow's mostly gloomy doesn't mean he doesn't listen.]

It's a lofty goal. I'd like to know how these jerks manage to get us here as well. I doubt it's something they'll give up easily though.

It won't be. But that's why we just keep niggling at it until we get an answer.

[Well, honestly, he wasn't always a huge grump bag.]

And what bit of the answer do you have so far? Figure out why they pick who shows up here?

Nope, the only guess we can make is they pick people who have interesting lives. People who have something to bring to the table by being here. Nine times out of ten it's someone from a war, or someone trying to save the world, or some big hero in their world. Stuff like that.

People who'd be entertaining for the masses, I guess.

[That has him pause in thought.]

You know, that's not such a bad idea. Back where I'm from, there were nightly plays about legends. You know, anything that makes a good story. The people just ate them up.

[Of course, nightly viewings of the story about the Savior got old quick, but then they weren't put on for him. Not really.]

Of course they do. Everyone wants to root for a hero- sometimes they even love a good villain- we've had one or two of those here, too. Whoever they bring here, it's always people who would keep this supposed TV show interesting.

That includes people you wouldn't actually get along with, by the way, or people who would cause you distress in some way by being here- drama, y'know?

[Who would Snow not want to see from back home? Yaag Rosch? Cid Raines? Nah, he actually understood men like that. Even Jihl Nabott on some level.

There's perhaps one person he wouldn't want to see, but he's not sure that the Atroma would even bother with such a massive asshole like that. He's even less social than Snow is now.]

So, drama sells, huh? Do they just create it if everyone seems to be pretty calm then?

From what I've noticed, yeah. Nothing is ever quiet here for longer than a month. Though it's been...pretty excessive lately.

How excessive? I mean, we had a planet blow up, so that's a lot, but has there been anything else that I should know about?

Calibrations happened not long ago, again- I don't think you were around for those? Or our previous hosts having a really crappy end. It's been since then I think that things have started snowballing into the bad territory.

What the heck is Calibrations?

And what do you mean, previous hosts? They haven't always been the same then?

Oh boy, okay so. Calibrations. [This is the best subject, gosh wow. ] Basically, it's happened twice now. We get brought onto the Marsiva, and are forced to sleep every night. While we sleep, we walk though one another's memories - pretty much nothing is safe. Every secret you have can be laid bare for just about anyone in the Fleet to stumble across.

[THE. BEST. ]

Hmmm. Before the ones we have now, we had a man and a woman called Beau and Diamond. They were...um pretty horribly murdered by Atroma about six months ago. The camera panned from it, but we heard it happen.

I'll pass on that, thanks. Sounds like a lot of fun, but not my cup of tea.

[Not that he even drinks tea, but nobody should have to see what his crappy life has been like. He doesn't want to share that with anyone. Bad enough Light could see it while she napped.

As Sokka answers his other question, he frowns.]

Great. And I'm guessing these Atroma haven't bothered to show their actual faces since then either, right?

Pretty sure it's no one's cup of tea. Hopefully we won't have another one for a while now.

[HE CAN HOPE. ]

Not at all. Diamond and Beau were the only faces we saw from their side for two years.

I'm sure there are nosey sadists out there that might enjoy peeking into the every detail of someone's past.

[Like Bhunivelze. That asshole.]

Of course they were. And now they're dead and we're all left guessing. Sounds very familiar.
