[He looks intrigued by that, as much as his smile had widened at the role of 'cook'. Two cooks?]
It can never hurt to have more cooks, I'm certain! We wouldn't want to go hungry. But more than that, magic interests me. What can you do, my friend? Your true offerings to the ship, if you will.

I'm not sure yet what applications magic might have in this sort of place. It isn't exactly a straightforward thing to explain to others but, let me think...I can manipulate and create basic energies like fire or lightning, though largely my skills lays in wards.
no subject
[Fire or lightning, though... That's something.]
no subject
Protective spells, at the most basic level. Usually placed upon a physical structure.

[He says that completely genuinely, too. What a nerd. But he has a feeling even something so small would catch the god's attention-- and so why was he calm now? Well, rather than focusing on how it works...]
So you're the ship magician. Perhaps they were too worried to give away such a grand title.
no subject
If they were, it certainly wouldn't be that. It's wizard.
[He makes a haughty sweeping gesture that at least takes with it the slight sneer. He knows he shouldn't find it upsetting, as much as he tells other people not to get too wrapped up in terminology when different worlds are involved, but out of all the alternative terminologies he's accepted, that is not one of them.
He smirks suddenly, as if at a private joke.]
Though, truth be told, I was once called Lord Wizard, though that fits here even less.
no subject
[You can bet he'll be calling him that from time to time, regardless of how he takes it. Despite his face now, Oren smiles, pleasant as ever.]
Were you an actual Lord, then?
no subject
I held a title back home, yes. [Which is his way of neatly dodging the 'actual' part of the question. It was was fuzzy matter since he was both exiled and not at all actual nobility, but he'd had the title nonetheless]
Fairly standard for any wizard of rank in Mélusine. Though it's been a long time since I was home.
no subject
Longer than most?
no subject
[He continues on his way to cabinets, fishing out a glass] The reason is that I was in another world before this for a span of more than five years.
no subject
[He leans back, hands gripping at the surface behind him.]
That's a considerable amount of time away from home.
no subject
[He shrugged, however and casually poured himself some tea. He was past the point of complaining about the quality of anything. Openly, at least.]
Some people do the same of their own volition.
no subject
[He seems concerned about it, at least. Such a long time...]
I won't bother you too much further with such memories, but I do hope things here aren't so bad.
no subject
Not as such. Atroma seems to have a slightly different goal and mode of operation. At least it gives us more chances to get to know one another.
[The smile widens, and he gestures in Oren's direction with his glass]
But what about you? What did you do before this?
no subject
I was a Prince.
[He steps back just enough to give a grand bow, hand flipping to curve before him.]
Nocta Oren, the royal prince of Renacht and the Outer Cities, Lord of the Holy March and all sands conquered, Ambassador to the Nomadic Tribes of the Sentik Desert, son of High Priestess Binali of the Grishalt line, and brother to the future queen of Renacht, Nocta Ensa.
[He stands, slowly, letting that sink in for just a moment before he allows a small laugh.] In less words, I worked as a merchant as much as I could.
no subject
Well then. This is something of a step down for you then, hm? At least you're used to traveling.
no subject
[Leaning against the wall behind him, he relaxes a bit more.] I've always enjoyed this sort of thing. I consider it an adventure.
no subject
Do you get kidnapped often?
no subject
Excuse me?
no subject
'This' sort of thing, you said. I certainly didn't sign up to be here, so I thought the same would be true for you.
