Joint video with ~makeovers~
Who: Justice, Anders, Riona, and YOU
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Caprine
When: Backdated before they get to the planet
[The video opens to what appears to be only Riona and Anders, standing shoulder to shoulder. Someone paying attention might notice someone else behind them, purposefully hidden.
Riona and Anders look a bit excited, and quite pleased. She glances over her shoulder briefly at someone, but her head still blocks most of the shot. When she turns back, she’s grinning.]
Ladies and gentlemen of the fleet, there’s someone we’d like you to meet. Or, maybe reintroduce for some of you.
[Anders steps aside, giving a grand wave to the person behind them and finally revealing him their captive audience.
It’s an unfamiliar and very attractive man with swept back hair and piercing blue eyes. (The shade of which may be familiar to anyone who might have known Anders back when he had a glowing problem.) The man in question has a seemingly perpetual frown on his face, standing stiffly without actually moving. He’s so still that it’s almost like he’s not breathing. (And those who know him, even if they don’t recognize him, might pick up on the note of vague confusion in the furrow of his brow. He does not know why this has become such a production, but it’s past the point when it’s worth the effort to restrain his friends.)
Anders’ grin could light up a room. It’s clear the two Wardens are very pleased with themselves.]
Please give a warm welcome to Justice: new and improved. For those of you who know him, Riona and I decided it was time for a bit of a makeover; something to improve over ‘dead and decaying.’ Those of you that might not have met him yet, you should! He’s really very nice.
[And now a 100% more approachable.
Justice, for his part, glances at Anders with slightly narrowed eyes. Anders, are you trying to make friends for him? He’s pretty sure you’re trying to make friends for him. Oh well. He dips his head towards the camera, and when he speaks, it’s the same deep rumble as before.] Greetings. If you did not know what to call me prior, I was the spirit who appeared to be dead.
[Riona nods, and wryly adds:] You may remember him as looking like a walking corpse who doesn't blink. We didn't want people to be putoff by his appearance anymore. Hard to get to know people and mingle with mortals when everyone thinks you're an undead shambler.
So say hello and chat him up. Or just ogle him. [She gives a wink and a wave.]

Video
Fenris wants to bite back that there's a lot of things Justice probably never thought he would do-
but he certainly does them. Did he ever think he would be part of the murder of countless innocent people? Probably not. He bites it down though, grimacing.]
How, then? I was not aware that Atroma was of a mind to give out fresh, empty bodies.
Private Video
He wasn't given an empty body, it's still his own, he just changed how he looks.
Call it a 'spirit thing' but no one else was involved besides Justice and the suggestions Riona and I gave him.
[Miraculously, he isn't picking a fight, he's just...trying to hold two ends of rope. This was much easier when he simply didn't care what Fenris thought.]
Private Video
I was not aware it could do that.
[He's not even trying to keep the biting fear out of his tone, which at least says something about how much beyond that wall of his he will allow Anders to see these days. ]
...Does it plan to remain wearing that face?
Private Video
Anders could could hardly blame Fenris for that feeling.]
He does. He wants to remain recognizable, that's why he walked around like a corpse all this while; he wanted Riona and I to recognize him. We figured this would be less unsettling.
Whatever you think of him, he's not interested in deceiving or lying to anyone. I'm not sure he even knows how.
Private Video
Yes. Well. I am sure once you believed it would not be interested in the wholesale slaughter of a building full of innocent people, but here we are. You cannot blame me for distrusting it. We're all very aware of how dangerous it can be- I simply do not want a repeat of Kirkwall.
[It is rather telling that he doesn't (wholly) blame Anders for that any more. Big steps.]
Private Video
The fact remained that Fenris wasn't wrong. About any of it. Not really. There were small details he could argue, things that seemed important to consider, but in the long run, they weren't. His friend had still turned into something Anders had believed he wasn't capable of. They'd both believed he wasn't capable of. People had died for it, even if the goal had been worth it, the lives lost and destruction caused would never be something that should be forgotten or passed over.
They'd done something atrocious and Fenris had every right to withhold trust when all he'd known had been the anger of a spirit slipping into a demon and not a spirit who only wanted what was right and hadn't learned yet that it wasn't so simple as it was in the Fade.]
I know. Neither do I.
[Big steps.]
Private Video
Good. I just want to be sure we have something to protect the Fleet- should the worst happen. Just to...be prepared.
[He's spent his entire free life being cautious and having contingency plans. It's how he got to keep a free life at all. ]
Private Video
I know you don't believe me, I wouldn't expect you to, but Justice isn't a threat to those in the fleet. Should the worst happen...he'd want them to be protected from him. But, all the same, he's a friend and I won't treat him any less, no matter how warrented the caution. He's a person, not an explosive about to go off.
[He might as well be talking to a wall for how much he'll likely be listened to. This wasn't something they saw eye-to-eye on and they likely never would. Anders agreed with Fenris that demons were dangerous, worth fearing and mistrusting and something you didn't handle lightly as Merrill seemed so intent on doing. But Fenris saw all beings from the Fade as demons, whereas Anders saw the difference. Like looking at a human and saying all were murderers because one was.]
Private Video
[Fenris exhales, runng a hand over his face tiredly. ]
I do not expect you to treat it differently- but if that is what it wants- a means to stop it, should it actually become a danger, then surely fulfilling that wish is something that would make it happy?
It would probably make the rest of us happy.
[That's a lie, Fenris is never happy. ]
Private Video
[Was that a joke? A dig? A gentle dig? The world may never know.]
It would. Happier than allowing him to hurt anyone.
It's all moot as it stands right now. Right now, he's happy in general and Riona and I are doing everything we can to make things easier for...for when the time comes.
Private Video
I don't much care if its happy or not. [That was bit more snippy than he intended. ] But...good. So long as you are prepared.
Private Video
As well as we can be.
It's said with a touch of chill, meant to be the end of the conversation that he definitely didn't want to be having. Not that he was surprised to be having it.]
Private Video
...I'll leave you be.
[Which is almost a goodbye, instead of just straight up hanging up on him. Progress. ]
Video
[Yeah, he just chose to look like a corpse for a few months. Yes, feel free to question his judgment there.]
This place lent my true form physicality. Do not ask me how, for I do not know.
[Justice is obviously bristling and snippy, clearly not appreciating the implications here.]
Video
How generous of Atroma to do such a thing. How wonderful to have you wandering around, able to wear any face you so choose.
[The sarcasm is REAL. ]
Video
If you wish to express the reason for your displeasure, speak plainly. I do not have the patience for implication and snide comments.
Video
I have plenty reason, but I have been asked to hold my tongue, so I will. But be very aware that I do not like you, and I absolutely do not trust you. I am watching you. Tread carefully.
Video
But he's still not quite that expressive, so just have a thoroughly unimpressed look, Fenris.]
Your feelings are noted.
[His voice is bone dry and just as thoroughly unimpressed as his expression. He just assumes that this is another of Anders' or Riona's friends who doesn't like spirits who is restraining himself at their request. It's too bad, because Justice had liked the elf well enough before he found out his nature, but Justice doesn't need to be liked. If this is how it must be, so be it.]
Video
[His tone is hard and icy. He can see Justice's expression but he cares not a fig for it. This is a dangerous thing and they would have been better off containing it, in his opinion. But they didn't, and now they have this situation on their hands.
Fenris turns off the feed, he is absolutely done. ]
