[Not long ago she’d been considering the best way to handle Winn’s birthday now that he’s gone and all. She considered enlisting a close friend or two to be on duty for support or distractions or just barricading herself in her room and feeling it and dealing with that. In the end she went with booze. Lots and lots of booze.

When she turns the feed on she’s lying down on a series of three chairs, holding the communicator above her head.]

Did I ever tell you about the time I was in Marina—the underwater prison place—and this tiny alien or robot or possibly dog man thing took over and made it rain fruit punch and then made us dance in a dance marathon and if we didn’t he was going to put us in a room with a moose. And I’m not drunk! [She laughs like she just said something very funny.]

No, no, I mean I am drunk but it’s also true. It was a very strange place. Did you know you had to get a wristband if you wanted to have sex with someone? Yeah. It was like being at a bar and wanting drink. [Speaking of wanting to drink. She looks around for her bottle and then lifts herself up enough to achieve drinking.] Oh! And then it was like enforced monogamy where you could only be with your band partner.

Wristband. Not like music band. You didn’t have to have sex with the person you played the flute with. [More laughing.]

What was I…? Oh, yeah, do you know I haven’t kissed anyone in moooonths? Yeah. Like May. May 10th. [Winn disappeared May 11.] In the prison you couldn’t do that because every two months—if they were months—they would send out these mistletoe robots that would make you kiss someone or lots of someones. Usually lots of someones. They had shrinking forcefields and confetti. I had to kiss a guy without lips once. Did I mention it was a weird place?

[Well he won't turn that down.] 'nything left, or have ya absorbed it all? [He asked as he moved further into the room, moving to join her since she doesn't look like she will be moving any time soon.]

There's more. [She rolls her head over to the other side as if to point to a bottle that's still about half full. Did it start at all full or not quite? Mystery!] No extra glasses though.

'long as ya don't mind m' cooties, I can live with that. [Closing that final distance so he could sit beside her, a hand reaching for the bottle.]

So, we makin' a toast, good healthy 'nd all that merde?

No telling where your mouth's been, but I'll take my chances. [She's slowed down on the drinking some anyway.]

Mmm...sure. Toast away. We can use some good wishes.

Ya say that like it's a bad thing. [Remy shot back as he took the bottle, taking it in hand as he thought and holding it up a little to toast.]

To new beginnings, to 'nother year of craziness which hopefully be at least half fun, to new 'nd old friends, 'nd to gettin' up to as much trouble as possible. How that? [Seeing if it got her approve before he took a drink to finalize it.]

Sounds good. Maybe this is the year we convert you to being an X-Man. That would definitely be trouble.

'nd Satan's goin' to be really mad when he notices the temperature droppin' so low. [A smirk of a smile shot her way before he took a swig from the bottle, holding it out a moment to see if she wanted it back for that poor toast he made.]

Wow. Ouch. [Not exactly offended but maybe a little surprised.] Does it really sound that bad to you?

[Remy's expression shifted, focusing on her a moment before softening and giving a sigh.] No, it ain't petite, not really, not after everything 've been through here. Thing be, the X-Men of m' world, they be... [He paused to try and find the right words, eventually coming up with:] Naive.

Now, ain't sayin' it a bad thing, just... doesn't really fit me. Or have a place to fit me.

That would be a lot harder to imagine if I hadn't met the Kitty and Kurt from that world. Rogue though... [Not a word she'd use for her, but she'd been in these places a long time too.] And naive can't be a word you associated with Kurt or me.

Rogue, [Oh, that actually still hurt, more than he expected, or maybe just as much as he expected. He hadn't been thinking of her of late, too caught up in life but... he did miss his friend, even if her guitar in his room was a constant reminder of her.

And the fact he was trying to learn to play it. It seemed wrong just to be a decoration.] She been through a lot, lot more than what just happened in this place, trust me. [Luceti had been hard on her, even before 'he' had arrived there, when a previous version of him had been there.] Let 'lone what she done back home before all of this.

'nd no, petite, can't say ya 'nd Bleu be, [That smile returning as he moved on, though a little sad as it was aimed at her.] Wish I could though. [Because whatever they had gone through, they hadn't deserved.]

[She didn't mean for it to hurt. She misses her too. She misses all the other mutants who used to be here even the ones she wasn't as close to, but Rogue had definitely been a friend. She greeted her immediately and helped her when she was fresh to the fleet. They weren't from the same world, but she was glad to have her here.]

Are you going soft on me, Cajun? [No one deserved the world they were from. No one.]

Ahh, [Remy waved off her joke.] I thought femmes liked that in a man, non? A sensitive side ‘nd all that? [A bit of a wink and a smile, pushing his own darker thoughts away. Yes, no time for that, and certainly not a good thing to focus on considering why he had shown up here. Dwelling on that kind of thing didn’t help anyone.]

Yes, because women are all the same so we all like the same things. Good call. Even drunk I know that's dumb, guy.

Mon Dieu ya sound like Rogue. [A shake of his head but also a smile, deciding if he would take another drink from that bottle and for the moment putting it down on the ground between them.] Clearly I know that ain't the case.

It's the thick southern accent from Chicago, isn't it?

Yep, got it in one. [Going along with the joke for the moment, before giving her a serious answer.] Non, non, 'bout sortin' me out from not bein' too much of an asshole. [Though there was a grin to go with it, showing he wasn't taking it to heart.]

Yeah, well, I'm not here to boost an ego I already have a lot of faith in. I'm here to be sloppy drunk and emotionally compromised.

[Well if that was the case, Remy raised that bottle again to take another swig out of it then handing it towards her, though he smiled as well.] That's nice to hear.

The first part, more so than the second. Though, I am more than happy to help ya with that part as well.

[She waves the bottle away, feeling she's maybe had enough for awhile. There's still some measure of control that worries about phasing through the floor of a spaceship or simply passing out and being utterly vulnerable even if she has Remy to watch her back.] I'm pretty good at getting drunk and compromised on my own, but I appreciate the support.

[Remy shrugged it off, leaving the bottle on for the floor for now then.] All I can do is try. [And talking of that, he did cast a side ways glance towards her, wondering if to pry... then deciding to make it an offer instead.] Ya wanna talk 'bout it? If not, can throw a distraction ya way 'nstead if that what ya need. We both know I am more the capable of fillin' the air with nonsense without actually sayin' 'nything.

I just want him back, you know? I don't really know what I want as a runner-up prize. Maybe to be less pathetic about the whole thing. I kind of miss being walled off so hard I didn't even know what I was feeling.

[Talking it was then, and Remy's expression softened to something more sympathetic as he shifted to wrap an arm around her shoulders, giving her a bit of a squeeze hug.] Yeah, petite, I get that. [Rubbing his hand against her shoulder.] 'nd wish I could do that for ya, just have him pop back in, memories 'nd all.

'nd it ain't pathetic. Losin' love never be, so don't ya beat yaself up over such 'motions, hein? They still 'mportant.

Yeah, what emotions ever do for anyone? [Except make her extremely happy when he was still around.]

Make ya feel like ya the center of someone's world, that 'ny bad could easily be over come when ya got the feelin' of light in ya chest, 'nd that puttin' up with all the merde in life be suddenly so much easier compared to if they weren't there.

[It isn't overly clear if Remy is referring to emotions in general, or to a person who caused them, though whatever it was it did cause him to pick up that bottle once more, feeling the need to join her in misery drinking now.] Then like havin' ya heart ripped out, or a knife twisted in ya back. One or both. [Opening the bottle and taking another drink before he realized he was starting to spiral himself, and that wouldn't help either of them.]

Like all things, petite, when it good ya feel like ya on top of the world, but Luck 'nd the universe is never that kind to keep it 'round for long. Ya can either dwell in that, or try 'nd look forward 'nd hope something else can take it's place, with time.
