The last couple months have been an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. Lots of ups and downs, and Riona finds herself in need of a break. A way to just get her mind off of everything. And then she remembers she's promised a number of people a movie night. The solution comes together easily from there, and she sets up a series of movie nights with her friends.

Once they arrive, there's a small area set up with some chairs, blankets and of course a viewing platform to watch the movies. There'll also be food and drink, whatever they both decide on.

Riona's been amassing a collection from different planets since she got in the fleet, and now they have quite a variety of genres to choose from:



Rom-Coms and Romances: There's quite the range, from rather sappy romances to outright cringe-worthy flicks. There are a couple gems in the collection, but most are just overly cheesy or stupid. If nothing else, they're good for a laugh and making sarcastic commentary.

Action: Explosions! Guns! Chases! Scantily clad women for no discernible reason! These run the gamut from serious thinkpieces to unabashed blockbusters with nary a cohesive plot to be found. Again, there are a few decent ones in the mix but most are just for sheer entertainment.

Horror: Spooooooky~ Good for a scare... and maybe some laughs. Gore fests or psychological thrillers abound. This is the smallest collection she has, but there are enough to pick from!

Comedy: When a laugh is needed. From trash humor filled with fart jokes to more subtle humor, there's a bit of something for every brand of humor.

Animation: People actually draw all of this! This is by far the most varied of Riona's collection. There's cutesy kid stuff, adventure flicks, and even a few heartbreakers.

Musical: Riona's favorite. Theater in its truest form, but with singing!! And not the stuffy opera kind either. Almost as varied as the animated stuff, there's quite a range, from romping comedies, romances, to tragedies.

Drama: But of course. Angst, revelations, twists and betrayals. These movies take themselves the most seriously. Some are quite decent, but others are laughable at times. Also great for making fun of if you feel inclined.

So come on over, pick a genre, and settle in for some fun times.

Outside the ones in the fleet archives, any movie would probably need to be tweaked a little in terms of details (i.e names, places, etc) as it would likely have come from another world. Oh, so it's a skill of yours! No, I cannot make explosions. I wield lightning. Though I suppose used correctly I could blow things up that way.

I can use lightning too. [ HERE WE GO. ] It wasn't my speciality, but I used it when I needed to.

[It's a little off-putting to hear someone say that so casually, though he hides it well enough. Different universes, Thor.]

Would you be a mage of some kind then?

Yes. I specialised in something called Rift magic, but I can cast the elements, too.

My brother has always been the better one at spells. I haven't heard of rift magic, though.

I believe it's something unique to Thedas. [ But, hm. ] Your brother is a mage?

[rebuildyourruins]

Not a mage, exactly. [He's never thought of Loki as anything that solidly defined.] Certainly more skilled in those sorts of things than I am. He's good at illusions.

[veilstrike]

I see. I haven't seen anything like illusionaries in Thedas. [ It's interesting to consider, though, hmmm. ] I wonder what we could learn from each other.

[Thor huffs a laugh.]

Even if he were here, Loki prefers to keep his secrets. Though you're right - everyone here would have something unique to teach others.

[veilstrike]

I would share with you, if I could. [ She's not a professional thunder mage, but she was sparky enough. ] I was always more interested in ice magic, however.

That isn't a talent I've seen much of.

[Not in Asgardians, at least. The Frost Giants were a different matter.]

[ She lifts her hand and lets her fingers get covered with a gentle layer of ice. ]

It's not my speciality, not like Rift magic, but it's still useful.

I'm certain it is. You must have studied a lot of magic, then.

I was lucky enough to be in the position to. Is it not the same in your world?

Oh, no, you can study magic if it suits you. It is more common to become skilled with weaponry though.

[veilstrike]

Are there any that become skilled with both?

[rebuildyourruins]

There are some, but it's less common.

[Thor himself certainly never managed to learn more than a couple of spells. Enough to summon his armor when he needed it, or disguise his hammer. That sort of thing had never held his attention though during his lessons growing up. Loki on the other hand excelled at magic, whilst opting for daggers as his weapon of choice.]

My father had skill in both.

[veilstrike]

I see. The First of my clan was a dedicated mage, but we're all taught how to use a bow and arrows, to be safe. It's also necessary in case we need to hunt.

[ A useful trick, a little talent, but it's not something she's particularly proficient in. ]

You inherited his strength, then?

[rebuildyourruins]

It's a good skill to have, though not one I know much of myself.

I did. I would not say it is exactly the same; but I did inherit a lot from him.

[Both good and bad.]

[veilstrike]

Sometimes that is a gift.

[ It seems like the best idea to leave it at that, though. ]

Did you train for a long time?

[rebuildyourruins]

Oh yes - centuries, like any other warrior. [Among his own people that's fairly common.] What I have learned though is that you are never truly done with training. There's always room to improve.

[veilstrike]

You're long-lived, then. [ Her eyes widen, just a touch - like her own people used to be. ] You're not wrong. There is always so much to learn, from so many people.

[rebuildyourruins]

Yes - my people live for thousands of years. It is rare, I know.

[He's gathered as much from his experiences on Earth, and out in the wider universe. Few races live as long as Asgardians, except those living on abnormal planets like Sakaar.]

And those who cannot see that will be lacking, I think.

[veilstrike]

That is how it used to be for my people, too. They were immortal, once.

[ But it's not true anymore, and she desperately clings to the other topic. ]

I wonder if there's anything I can teach you.

Did something happen?

[It sounds that way, though Thor can't imagine how an immortal race could become otherwise.]

You know, it's possible. If nothing else I would guess our fighting styles differ greatly.
