✩ video (backdated) ; action (on different days)
Who: Kaname Buccaneer & Various!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Also yes!
When: Broadcast, the 10th; action, from 6th until they leave the system
[VIDEO; Public]
[The network's greeting with a smiling redhead, waving a little at the camera. From the looks of it, she's sitting at a desk aboard one of the ships, but not the sad excuse of one in their quarters. Heck yeah, personnel office.
As always, her tone is friendly, offering an easy approach should someone need it.]
When I think about it sometimes, the fact some people here don't have regular space travel back home is still hard for me to wrap my head around. For me, it's as normal as waking up in the morning. Going from planet to planet or system to system, for performances or otherwise, is so routine, I never bat an eye. It makes me wonder how close other worlds are from achieving the same thing. Or maybe you're already there.
[Only now does a striped mercat start shuffling across the desk in front of the camrea. Kaname chuckles a little, tucking some hair behind her ear before lifting him off and placing him in her lap.] I guess I want to know about that. Or maybe what's common for you but strange to others? Like back home, everyone knows the term Protoculture, but here... I think I'd be surprised if someone else did. If anyone wants to share, I'd love to hear it.
[She reaches forward, aware of the mercat's interest in the device, and turns off the feed.]
[SKATING-- anytime]
[Before the planet, Kaname never went ice skating, but she wanted to learn. Here, thanks to a lot of help from Freyja, she's beginning to get the hang of it. Someone might think that the grace and poise needed to dance and move as much as she does would translate well into this. For her, there's no such luck. Every so often she'll wobble and have to reach the edge of the lake or rink (she uses both) to steady herself. But she's determined. Skate with her, laugh at her, offer her a helping hand or hot drink.]
[SHOPPING-- anytime]
[The little attack concert Kaname and Freyja pulled in the previous system netted them a good amount of credits in ratings, so what else is there to do but spend some of it? Despite receiving her performance equipment complete with fold carbon outfit changes, someone is wanting an expanded wardrobe, as well as decorations for her office and room. Clothes, decor, and more practical supplies are all on her list.]
[SINGING-- most days]
[One thing a singer should never do is not practice. Whether she's in the dance studio, the gym, or even out for a run on the Iskaulit, she can often be heard singing a few different songs. Some are more common than others, but there's a variety. Only rarely is she quiet or simply humming. Her job requires her to project, so she does just that.]
[OTHER-- ???]

That's exactly it. No living race has encountered them-- they were eons before we were evolved enough to travel, but there are ruins and signs of them all over the galaxy.
[Well that might be different. Who knows.]
It's strange, if you think about it. I wonder why that is. [She nods again.] A lot of humanity or mixed species never head anywhere near Earth now. We hear stories, of course, but there's just too much more to look for.
Video
[It's facinating. Not necessarily weird, but definitely something he'd be interested in tracing between them.]
I wonder what else is similar about them...
How was the Protoculture wiped out?
Re: Video
That's information no one's been able to figure out yet. We've only recently been able to link ruins and artifacts together in a way that makes sense. Most of what people discover is still a theory.
[Outside of in-universe knowledge, we totally know how they died.]
Video
Hopefully they didn't go in some big intergalactic war with asynthetic species bent on destroying and harvesting all life every 50,000 years or so.
[Isn't that a kicker?]
Video
I can't say for sure or not. There's still a lot of the galaxy we haven't gotten to yet.
Video
Yeah, I hear that. It took us years to even discover as much as we know now.
I'd like to hear more sometime, though. I'm finding there's a lot of people here who come from places that don't even know it's possible to travel in space and plenty more that do and do it, but they're all different in how they go about it or what they've experienced.
It's fascinating.
[Don't mind him, his inner nerd is showing.]
Video
I can try my best, but I'm not historian by far. What I've shared is pretty common knowledge back home.
Video
Neither am I.
Think of it this way: things you might take for granted, things that seem like every-day knowledge to you might be something completely new or unheard of to me.
Video
But I'm definitely interested in what else might be similar. Kaname Buccaneer, by the way.
Video
Fair enough.
Commander Shepard; a pleasure, Kaname.
Video
So is there a first name to go with that rank that you're willing to share?
