✩ video (backdated) ; action (on different days)
Who: Kaname Buccaneer & Various!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Also yes!
When: Broadcast, the 10th; action, from 6th until they leave the system
[VIDEO; Public]
[The network's greeting with a smiling redhead, waving a little at the camera. From the looks of it, she's sitting at a desk aboard one of the ships, but not the sad excuse of one in their quarters. Heck yeah, personnel office.
As always, her tone is friendly, offering an easy approach should someone need it.]
When I think about it sometimes, the fact some people here don't have regular space travel back home is still hard for me to wrap my head around. For me, it's as normal as waking up in the morning. Going from planet to planet or system to system, for performances or otherwise, is so routine, I never bat an eye. It makes me wonder how close other worlds are from achieving the same thing. Or maybe you're already there.
[Only now does a striped mercat start shuffling across the desk in front of the camrea. Kaname chuckles a little, tucking some hair behind her ear before lifting him off and placing him in her lap.] I guess I want to know about that. Or maybe what's common for you but strange to others? Like back home, everyone knows the term Protoculture, but here... I think I'd be surprised if someone else did. If anyone wants to share, I'd love to hear it.
[She reaches forward, aware of the mercat's interest in the device, and turns off the feed.]
[SKATING-- anytime]
[Before the planet, Kaname never went ice skating, but she wanted to learn. Here, thanks to a lot of help from Freyja, she's beginning to get the hang of it. Someone might think that the grace and poise needed to dance and move as much as she does would translate well into this. For her, there's no such luck. Every so often she'll wobble and have to reach the edge of the lake or rink (she uses both) to steady herself. But she's determined. Skate with her, laugh at her, offer her a helping hand or hot drink.]
[SHOPPING-- anytime]
[The little attack concert Kaname and Freyja pulled in the previous system netted them a good amount of credits in ratings, so what else is there to do but spend some of it? Despite receiving her performance equipment complete with fold carbon outfit changes, someone is wanting an expanded wardrobe, as well as decorations for her office and room. Clothes, decor, and more practical supplies are all on her list.]
[SINGING-- most days]
[One thing a singer should never do is not practice. Whether she's in the dance studio, the gym, or even out for a run on the Iskaulit, she can often be heard singing a few different songs. Some are more common than others, but there's a variety. Only rarely is she quiet or simply humming. Her job requires her to project, so she does just that.]
[OTHER-- ???]
[Something not here? Create your own!]

What is that creature?

[He's put his front end back on the desk and tilts his head at the camera.]
Back home, he's a shared pet amongst a few of us.
Re: video
A mercat! That's amazing! Are mercats common where you're from?

ice skating with freyja!
A medium sized lake surrounded by snowbanks on the edge of town serves as their arena. There are natives present so she can see how it's done, and it's not too crowded that she won't have room to move slowly. Walking on the skates on the ground is easy enough to figure out at least.
The young woman's slowly moving forward on the ice, arms outstretched, knees slightly bent, looking like an awkward kind of bird.]
Freyja...?
[Has Freyja ever seen Kaname nervous?]
no subject
Kaname-san, you need to relax a little!
no subject
She gives a nervous laugh in reply.]
Easier said than done right now.
[But she does try. Only to almost fall forward too far.]

[action]
(Maybe he's been looking in the mirror extra hard lately and frowning over his scrawny arms.)
What he doesn't expect when he walks in is the sound of a girl singing. It's not over any speaker system, either, but loud and clear and actually really amazingly good. A few more strides and he spots the source of the voice, a pretty redhead that he vaguely recalls maybe talking to over the network once or twice.]
Working out your vocal chords, huh?
no subject
Yeah, it's part of my routine. [She offers a grin before taking a drink.] Glad to know it's paying off.
no subject
[Because that's just blowing his mind. He's usually struggling to breathe after a whole lot of sit ups. But to sing like that?]

[She already knew about his world's space travel abilities, so he wasn't going to bother with the question, but... that looked like a combination seal and cat thing...]

Keith, this is Q-Lulu, a mercat. Back home, he's a shared pet of myself, Freyja, and a few others.
Re: video
[He had to admit, though, that it was kind of cute... with its little striped tail and white face like that.]
Does it get any bigger?

I've loved the travel part so far.
[She's smiling as she catches sight of the mercat.]
Ah, you have a friend?
no subject
[Kaname chuckles.] Q-Lulu, the mercat. He's a pet from back home who belongs to Freyja and I.
no subject
[Her eyes are bright with interest.]
It's an interesting name, for sure. So...I'm guessing he really likes water? Have you taken him to the pool yet? [Her head dips a little and she colours slightly.] I'd love to meet him.

I'll admit, I don't know Protoculture. People here don't know about Asari, Salarians or Turians, which are all very common races back home.
[Mind blowing for sure and he's not sure what it means that there's so many humans here but almost no other races. Samara had said they were the most individualistic of all species, but why wouldn't there be any variation? Especially if this 'premise' Atroma was trying to sell them about being a show was true.]
Are you from Earth originally? Or some other colony?
Video
[Kaname chuckles, shaking her head.] The Protoculture were an ancient race that gave rise to most of the species we run into now. Humans, Zentradi, Zolans, Ragnans, and more. It would be nice to find someone who's heard of any of them aside from humans.
Born on a planet called Divide, currently living on planet Ragna. I've never been to Earth-- it's pretty far by now, and I don't feel the need.
Video
They sound like the Protheans from back home; an ancient race that planted the seeds for modern day races to grow and thrive, at least until they were wiped out.
[Nevermind they intended to enslave the 'modern races' after a while. Nothing's perfect.]
I'm not familiar with those planets either. Interesting that Earth is something from both of our homes, yet everything else seems to be different.
[And with all of the humans or 'human like' people around, he definitely suspected there was something about humans that drew Atroma.]
I get it. I was born on Earth, but I left as soon as I could, there's so much more out there.

[Once you see more than a couple alien worlds and their inhabitants, it's less of a shock to see something as strange as what looks like a cross between a baby seal and a cat. He still wants to question the fact that it exists at all, but that's the inner human clawing around in him.]
Space travel is expensive and dangerous where I come from. [He's lounging in his office with a bit of food from the canteen. He's eating it in small spoonfuls with his mask resting just above his mouth.] It costs more money than some are willing to spend to send people up into space, even at the International Space Station. Arriving here was my first time being off my planet.
video
Is it safe to figure you're from Earth, then? I haven't heard of a planet without space travel besides Earth yet.
video
Q-Lulu. [His voice is a bit flat as he takes in the name. Not that he's one to judge, but 'Q'?] Earthling indeed. Manned missions seem to be limited to experiments these days. The effects of zero gravity and prolonged exposure to space; that kind of thing.

[ But she's thoughtful, now. ]
I don't think many people here know what 'materia' is! Or the Lifestream.
video.
[Oh, someone answering her question. Color her intrigued.]
I can't say I've heard of either, but the second one sounds important.
video.
[ But she's always been a little curious, and she nods her head. ]
The Lifestream is our Planet's heart - it carries its memories, emotions and knowledge of everyone that's ever lived there.
