[The network's greeting with a smiling redhead, waving a little at the camera. From the looks of it, she's sitting at a desk aboard one of the ships, but not the sad excuse of one in their quarters. Heck yeah, personnel office.

As always, her tone is friendly, offering an easy approach should someone need it.]

When I think about it sometimes, the fact some people here don't have regular space travel back home is still hard for me to wrap my head around. For me, it's as normal as waking up in the morning. Going from planet to planet or system to system, for performances or otherwise, is so routine, I never bat an eye. It makes me wonder how close other worlds are from achieving the same thing. Or maybe you're already there.

[Only now does a striped mercat start shuffling across the desk in front of the camrea. Kaname chuckles a little, tucking some hair behind her ear before lifting him off and placing him in her lap.] I guess I want to know about that. Or maybe what's common for you but strange to others? Like back home, everyone knows the term Protoculture, but here... I think I'd be surprised if someone else did. If anyone wants to share, I'd love to hear it.

[She reaches forward, aware of the mercat's interest in the device, and turns off the feed.]


[SKATING-- anytime]
[Before the planet, Kaname never went ice skating, but she wanted to learn. Here, thanks to a lot of help from Freyja, she's beginning to get the hang of it. Someone might think that the grace and poise needed to dance and move as much as she does would translate well into this. For her, there's no such luck. Every so often she'll wobble and have to reach the edge of the lake or rink (she uses both) to steady herself. But she's determined. Skate with her, laugh at her, offer her a helping hand or hot drink.]

[SHOPPING-- anytime]
[The little attack concert Kaname and Freyja pulled in the previous system netted them a good amount of credits in ratings, so what else is there to do but spend some of it? Despite receiving her performance equipment complete with fold carbon outfit changes, someone is wanting an expanded wardrobe, as well as decorations for her office and room. Clothes, decor, and more practical supplies are all on her list.]

[SINGING-- most days]
[One thing a singer should never do is not practice. Whether she's in the dance studio, the gym, or even out for a run on the Iskaulit, she can often be heard singing a few different songs. Some are more common than others, but there's a variety. Only rarely is she quiet or simply humming. Her job requires her to project, so she does just that.]

I think so. But there's a bunch of people who have been here for even longer. Sokka's been here, like, ages, I think.

[He frowns a little at that second part.]

Yeah...but we're here now, and that's what matters.

Has he? I've spoken with him a few times, but never about that.

[That gets a smile from her.]

Yeah. I think it's been like...two years for him? It's weird thinking of being here that long. But at least the people here are cool.

Weird is putting it mildly. [If she's honest with herself, it's not something she even wants to consider.]

So hey, I didn't distract you from anything, did I?

Oh! Oh, no, not really. I was just going to lift some weights, no biggie. Shiro and Keith force me to train with them sometimes, but between me and you, it is not easy to keep with them.

[Shiro can probably crush him with his pinky, and Keith...well, he can still kick Lance's ass in close combat.]

[axi]

[Kaname nods, smiling sympathetically.] I've seen Shiro before and spent time with Keith. Not everyone's made to work the way they do.

Definitely not. I can definitely outshoot Keith and probably Shiro, but when it comes to the whole running around and suplexing people thing, I end up being the one getting suplexed.

[And being suplexed is not fun.

Trust him on this.]

[Kaname stares at him.]

I'm... pretty certain that's not something that happens often.

[the_tailor]

In our line of work, getting suplexed is definitely a danger. Well, getting shot or exploded is the main concern, but you can never underestimate an enemy. Maybe some Galra guard was just binging Lucha Underground and decides to try out some of those moves. Who knows? Gotta be prepared!

[He makes a...vague fighting pose.]

[She stands up, straightening her pants.]

[He blinks once...twice...]

How do you think?

[Kaname slides into a stance, looking ready to defend herself.]

[Wait a tick.]

Wha--no! No siree, I am not attacking a girl! My mom raised me better than that!

[And then a work out towel comes flying at his face.]

Hey--!

[He takes a step back.]

It wasn't meant as an insult or anything! I know plenty of girls who could kick my butt, but a real gentleman doesn't hurt women!

[axi]

[If he actually looks at her expression, he'll find her grinning.]

I was only bluffing, but you'd better be careful who you talk to like that. You wouldn't get a chance to hurt some of those girls.

[the_tailor]

Oh, trust me, I know.

[He hands her back her work towel, grinning sheepishly.]

So, you sing...you dance, I assume...do you really know how to fight, too?

[axi]

I do dance [while getting shot at] too.

[Kaname takes her towel and places it around her neck.]

Not as well as some, but I can manage. Back home I work for a private military contractor, so I've been through a variation of basic training, plus I've taken self defense classes since I was a kid.

[the_tailor]

Coooooool. I never would've thought that singers could come with a side of buttkicking or support troops in more than just morale before. It's awesome.

[axi]

Most of the time the troops are there to to cover us. When our group's deployed, it means our voices are needed, but we definitely work for morale, too.

[Moving to the side, Kaname sits on one of the benches.]

Now don't let me stop you.

Oh yeah. The working out. Right.

[He shoots her a smile and fingerguns before striding over to where the dumbbells are kept. Normally, he starts small, but he doesn't exactly want to look weak in front of her! Besides, he's getting stronger, isn't he? He can try some heavier weights. No sweat.

Half a minute later, he's rethinking his strategy, having to use as much effort to make himself look totally casual as it's taking to lift the weights that he definitely should have not started with.]

[She sits there, trying not to smile too much at the spectacle.]

Are you all right?

[the_tailor]

Mmhmm!

[He knows that if he talks, the strain of his voice will give away how strained he feels in general right now. Oh man, this was a bad idea.

One day, he's going to learn to not try showing off in front of pretty girls. One day. That day isn't today, though.

Lance tries to put on the most confident smile he can muster even as his arms shake a little.]

[She stands up and stretches a little before heading to the door.]

I forgot my water bottle down in the dance studio, I'll be right back.

[And she walks out, giving him some time to not be... him. Or whatever.]

[...Phew.

He puts down the weights, wincing. Oof. He's gonna be feeling that one later. One of these days, Lance is going to learn not to overdo it when it comes to trying to impress people. That day is not today.]
