One of the strange things about being in a new reality, I've come to realize, comes down to grasping social norms. They aren't the exact same here as they were on Thedas, and each one of us brings our own world with us when we interact with one another. My 'I think you're gorgeous and funny and would love to get you know better' might be read as your 'I'm only thinking about your body.'

It's hard enough navigating the subtlety there without adding to the mix different a world's views on sex and relationships.

That means research and asking questions. Or at least it does if you're me, I suppose.

I explain all of that simply so you understand how it is that recently I discovered a concept called 'pick up lines.' From what I've learned, they are terrible and awkward. Of course this means that I adore them.

Hit me with your best shot, friends. Give me your favorite pick up lines. I need to hear them all.

[He manages to say with amusement in his voice rather than the weird fear that's gripped at his stomach.]

[He's going to pretend that his heart isn't hammering his head right now. Instead, he still manages to sound rather relaxed and amused.]

It would be almost too much for the world to handle.

I'm not entirely certain they could. The radiant Inquisitor and the equally handsome Altus. Think of the rumors that would spread.

I've never troubled myself about rumors, my friend.

They spread back home as well, and I cared very little about them then. They're utterly meaningless here.

Oh, I'm entirely too certain of the rumor mill in Thedas. I'm no stranger to it, and you yourself have a fair share of absurdities spread about you. Of course there's no stock in it.

[samahl]

Of course. I'm Dalish, prefer men, and others have claimed me to the be the Herald of Andraste.

And you, my friend, are better than all of those who spread the rumors combined.

The one I found particularly enthralling and equally moronic was the notion that Dalish elves turn into dragons and snatch children.

I like to believe I have a better understanding of reality than those simpletons.

[Things are moving away from the two of them being naked together, so the tension in Cyril's stomach is slowly releasing.]

To be fair, who doesn't secretly wish they could turn into a dragon?

I, for one, would rather not be hunted if it's all the same to you. I've seen what we do to dragons.

[ He's quiet for a moment and cants his head to one side. ]

For all the rumor, I still know very little of you as a person.

I know of some of the choices you've made, but not anything from before the Inquisition. Ah.. Where are you from? And what of your clan?

[samahl]

I am from Clan Lavellan, but after discussing that with Leilani I realize it doesn't mean it's the same Clan your Inquisitor was from.

Let's see... The Keeper is named Deshanna Istimaethoriel. That is the same for Leilani, so it may the same for your Inquisitor Lavellan.

The First is my blood cousin, Pel. She's the reason I am with that Clan, actually. She was gifted to them shortly after her magic manifested when she was very young, and when my mother died of an illness that destroyed much of our original Clan, Lavellan took me in.

I was a situated to become apprentice to the Crafter, but I chose instead to be a Hunter.

I, uh, I wanted to be a Hunter because of a boy. [He admits, some embarrassment in his tone. He isn't sure how much he can talk about Merrick here, but he had promised to be truthful.] To be closer with him. It's all rather... much looking back at it.

My Inquisitor Lavellan is the First for his Clan, if I'm not mistaken. The name of the Keeper sounds familiar.

I am sorry to hear of your original Clan. Did those remaining move to Lavellan with you? [ His smile is sympathetic, but he can relate, doing something for the sake of a boy. ] Did he enjoy your attention, at least? It would be a shame if he didn't.

Ah, then that's the as Leilani. She was the First of her Clan. Because Lavellan did not have Pel, they stepped into that role instead and I likely went to whichever Clan was cousin was gifted to.

[Strange, to consider how much of his life could be so different from such a simple change.]

And... as far as the boy... Let's say it was complicated. I never took that step with him though.

[That does seem to be a theme. He falls hard and yet never takes a step beyond friendship.]

[ It's certainly an interesting difference between them, though it's still astounding that all of these Inquisitors have mostly the same origins. Do Cyril and Leilani exist back home for him, though sent to different clans? Are they all separate entities played over multiple times? It's hard to decipher, really. The theory of multiple universes is so far and wide, it could be a hundred different solutions. Just as messy as time traveling, really.

Dorian clicks his tongue in disappointment. ]

Why ever not? Have you found someone you love back in your own world, Inquisitor?

[Cyril makes this little noise, a cross of a chuckle and a bitter little snort.

Then, rather than answer seriously, he smirks, and teases]

Why, Dorian. Don't you know? I'm in love with practically every handsome man I see.

[fantachetic]

[ Dorian laughs in return, shaking his head fondly. ]

You say, as if the feeling is not entirely mutual. Surely, Josephine is beating suitors away with a broom.

[samahl]

Human nobles are far more interested in my bed than in my hand. Imagine the scandal.

What I mean to say, is that she isn't the one to beat them off.

[Sorry Dorian, he really couldn't let that one slide.]

[ oh my goD, Cyril. Dorian absolutely groans. ]

You've been taking these 'pick up lines' a bit too much to heart.

[Cyril gives him an apologetic grin, and teases a bit.]

You're right. I'm awful. I'm sorry to subject you to such low brow humor.

Such is my curse, Inquisitor. Be it at the hands of you or The Iron Bull, I fear I may never escape.

[ He rests the back of his hand against his forehead, absolutely feigning distress. ]
