[As if waking up on a strange ship alone wasn't enough when Ulaz knew he shouldn't be there, now he was on yet another ship. This really was not funny. His attempts to try and get information through hacking had been poor at best and he was no closer to figuring what had happened.

He had learned one thing though; he did not like confetti. It was not amusing in the least.

He'd been pretty much silent so far - if being a Blade had taught him nothing else, it was how to make as little noise as possible. But now he doesn't really have a choice]

Can someone explain what is going on here? First I was on one ship and now another, neither of them where I should be. This must be a joke.

[And why does he say that? Hmm...]

Then I was correct. How did this happen?

You know that thing they put in our heads?

[Keith pointed at the spot behind his own left ear.]

Yeah... apparently that's the source. Mine glitched or something, and now I'm stuck like this until it fixes itself.

[Though, now that he's identified himself as a Paladin, he probably should look at least a little familiar to Ulaz. Black hair, deep bluish-violet eyes... Each of the Paladins had a unique appearance, even if Galra might think all humans "look the same".]

[You humans all look alike! ... except not really. Until arriving here, Ulaz had seen a grand total of five humans and they were all paladins of Voltron so Keith had looked familiar to him]

It is good to know that happens.

You are the paladin of the Red Lion.

Yeah. I am... sort of.

[Keith sort of deflated a little.]

I was when we met, anyway.

"Sort of?" Something has happened since then? Is this better to not discussed over a communicator?

Um, well... It's probably easier in person?

I um... I can meet you. [His pilot augment gave him the ability to operate the transporter, so, even though he was a bit too small to reach the shuttle controls properly, he could still get to other ships.]

There's something I should probably show you anyway.

Then in person it will be.

[And there was the comment that he had something to show him. He wondered if it was what Lance had been starting to tell him about and then backpedaled on so quickly. He was curious if it was what he thought it might have been. If it was, it opened so many questions]

Fine. I'm on the SS Caprine.

Alright. I'll be there in a bit. It uh... it's hard to reach the transporter controls at this height, so it's kind of an effort.

[And, with that, the kid was gone from the feed.

And it didn't take long, even with the extra effort needed for him to operate the transporter. Plus, a massive purple alien wasn't hard to find when most of the Fleet still looked human. However, seeing as how he was almost two feet shorter than normal, it made Ulaz look even taller... and Keith found he had to crane his neck to really look at him.

It was a little intimidating because, even with his memories intact, Keith still had the maturity of a nine-year-old, but he did his best to hold it together. He had managed to get his hands on what he wanted to show Ulaz, too... even with Lance's efforts to keep all the large bladed weapons away from his tinier-than-usual-hands. It was a dagger in a sheath, the handle still partially wrapped in a beige strip of cloth, but it was almost the length of Keith's whole arm at this size.]

Uh, hey.

[Man... this was embarrassing.]

There's no hurry. I will wait.

[At least it didn't take too long for Keith to figure it out. Probably just long enough for Ulaz to figure out where he needed to go to meet Keith so he probably wasn't too far when Keith ended up on their ship.

This was definitely different. He knew the paladin was younger, but he still wasn't expecting quite so small. So as Keith walked over, Ulaz did crouch down so that they were closer to the same height. He did take notice of what Keith had in his hand. Yep, it did look like a sheathed blade]

Hello.

[Keith hesitated when Ulaz crouched like that. Not only did it serve as a stark reminder that he was so stupidly small, it put that very non-human face with the yellow pupil-less eyes a lot closer to his own. His 9-year-old emotional state wanted to run or lash out, but his memories of Ulaz and the base and other things from back home kept him somewhat grounded. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.]

So, um... yeah. I'm not the Red Paladin anymore. [And it had nothing to do with his current size.] Lance is piloting the Red Lion now. And Allura is piloting Blue.

[He let that hang for a moment, so Ulaz could process it.]

[If Ulaz had been aware that 9 year old Keith might have been scared of his appearance, he probably wouldn't have crouched down like that. But he wasn't doing anything threatening, just kneeling down on the floor so that he was closer to Keith's height. He was after all, tiny paladin, and it was awkward to stare down at him.

Then that comment. He was quiet for a long moment]

Then what are you now?

[Keith took a deep breath.]

Well, Shiro had gone missing for a while, so the whole reason Lance and Allura switched around like that was because I ended up in the Black Lion. But, when we found Shiro again, and the Black Lion took him back...

[He looked down at the knife in his hands.]

I'm not a Paladin anymore. I left the team.

But, when we went to that base you told us about, I found something out. I've had this knife as long as I can remember. [He held it up for Ulaz to take a better look, and would let him take it out of the sheath if he wanted to.] Apparently, it's like yours. And, well... I passed your Trial.

That is quite a story.

[And very confusing. But then Keith was showing him the sheathed knife. Of course in the sheath, he couldn’t see it as well so he wrapped his hand around the hilt to draw it enough to see. Yep, there was the Blade of Marmora symbol plain as day on the blade. Ulaz drew it the rest of the way to examine it for a few long (and possibly painful on Keith’s part) moments before he returned the blade to the sheath]

You said you passed the Trials. That means you were able to activate this dagger. So you have some Galra in you.

[Keith nodded.]

I don't know where it came from... other than my mom left the knife behind when she left me and Dad. So, I'm guessing it came from her side somewhere... probably a really long time ago.

[He watched Ulaz handle the blade, definitely tensing up a bit. He'd almost had it taken from him a few times because people thought he'd stolen it. Keith was reluctant to let anyone really hold on to it. He didn't relax again until it was back in the sheath in his hands.]

But, because I passed the Trial, and left Team Voltron, I'm working with the Blade of Marmora now.

[Unlike with Antok, though, Ulaz had no reason to think that Keith had stolen it and Keith had admitted to knowing about the trials which he wouldn't have been involved any other way. It would also be dishonorable to consider confiscating another Blade's weapon without cause. Since Keith hadn't done anything to slight being a member of Blade of Marmora, there was no reason to think Ulaz might]

It would be logical to assume that your mother's side carries the Galra heritage then.

[He was quiet a moment at this last comment. What he was thinking in that silence would be hard for Keith to judge, his neutral expression still very firmly in place]

Then we are on the same team as well.

Yeah. Pretty sure that's it.

[It was definitely hard for Keith to judge the moment. Not only was Ulaz keeping himself very neutral, but Keith was just bad at reading certain cues from others. He felt his pulse start to speed up until Ulaz finally spoke.

He nodded.]

We are.

That does bring up some interesting questions which I'm sure you are aware of.

[If Keith hadn't wondered about it, Ulaz would have been both surprised and disappointed]

It also explains why you asked about my sword.

A lot of questions. I went in there looking for answers, and I feel like now I just have more questions.

I mean, I guess it answers the one main question I had... why did I have the blade... but yeah. Now there's a lot more.

[Keith nodded.]

I recognized the emblem on the hilt because I had it on my knife. But, I didn't get a chance to ask you much more, and, well... I was nervous to.

Hmm... there would be a lot of them even if something was explained.

[To be honest, Ulaz can't say that he blames Keith for having been nervous to indicate he had a blade like Ulaz's. Keith didn't look Galra at all, which would have set off alarm bells for even Ulaz about the kid having one of their swords. He couldn't honestly say what he would have done since he was no longer in that situation where trying to confiscate it would have crossed his mind]

Not surprising and I'm sure meeting the other Blades proved that you were right to be weary.

[Keith nodded about both statements, and then sighed.]

Antok kind of tackled me and accused me of stealing it. He and Kolivan tried to get me to give it back. They didn't believe me. Though, I don't really blame them. It's not like anything about me really looks Galra. No one back home on Earth had any clue about me being different.

I'm not honestly surprised. Antok would have been the one to do that. He's more of Kolivan's right hand than anyone in the Blades.

[He says it so flatly, but for a brief second Ulaz seemed more interested in something that was behind Keith so he was looking over him before his attention turned back]

I suppose the Trials of Marmora came up as a way to try and make you give it back to them.

Huh?

[Keith looked confused, and then glanced back over his shoulder to see what Ulaz was looking at.]

What do you mean? Isn't that something every member has to go through?

Do not misunderstand. Yes, every member of the Blades has gone through the Trials of Marmora and has successfully activated their luxite blade to pass. However, only one of Galra blood even has a chance of activating a blade. If they thought you had stolen it or someone else had, you wouldn't have been activate it no matter what they did in the trial.

[Think about that]

[Keith did think about it.]

I noticed that all the Blades have a unique shape to their weapons. Do you think they recognized it?

In theory yes. If I or another had met the Blade who had that sword before you and saw their blade then someone may have known who it belonged to. For better accuracy, we would have to see the blade activated. When they are daggers, its more difficult to tell. And we may have never seen their blade in that form.
