Okay, honestly, I don't think anyone here cares about those sorts of rules. [Not even Riona and she also grew up a noble. Booze is always acceptable as a gift, especially if you don't know someone that well.] Do I want to know what sort of ideas you have now? And room isn't an issue. [Because he legitimately has like five things.]

Alistair does have one thing right; stay here long enough, and no one cares about the sorts of rules that dictate propriety and that includes in front of royalty. Here, Alistair is just a fellow Ferelden, not the king or anything and considering how Alistair is, it's very easy to pretend.]
