Kara

[personal profile] takingkarabusiness 2018-01-28 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Kara is mostly staying around on Duotera in the summery warm parts. She can particularly be found in one of the major cities, taking in the variety and culture, as well as feeling nostalgic for home. She may also be scoping out for quality restaurants to spend her units at. If you're somewhere else in the system, no worries! Just give her a call or text and she'll zip over in no time.

Unless you're on Ebrion, which will slow her down a bit, or Philias, which she has a bad feeling about.

So! Catch her sightseeing, sampling the local delicacies, looking at plants to spruce up her room, or any number of other things! ]

Thor | OTA

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2018-01-31 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
a. duotera - city life

[Thor immediately takes the chance to get off the ships and stay on the most tolerable planet while they're here. He's sick of pacing around the tiny vessel and fretting over things he can't fix. So, he packs up and heads for a hotel. While he doesn't stay within the large city itself, he can often be found checking out the food stalls or shops around the place. Picking up transport jobs to Philias means he also frequents the loading docks of one transport company in the very early mornings, throwing crates into the back of transit ships with frightening ease.]

b. duotera - crafter's hall

[Thor is not what you could call artistic by nature. He can appreciate good craftsmanship, but it's certainly not a talent he possesses himself. Still, he finds himself visiting the Crafter's Hall just to get a feel for the place. It's the weapons he's drawn to first, observing the varieties of swords, spears and bows proudly displayed by their creators.

Yet he also drifts towards the more esoteric offerings. More often than not, he'll pick up a carved miniature boat or a patterned plate and examine it with a tired thoughtfulness. He turns things around a lot in his hands, since his depth perception isn't what it used to be.]

c. duotera - rolling clouds

[Distracting himself only goes so far. Most nights Thor ends up visiting a park in the city. He doesn't quite know why. Maybe it's the relative quiet, or the vaguely familiar shape of the sculptures that dot the landscape. It reminds him of Asgard in a way... or maybe it's just permanently on his mind. Most nights he finds a bench and just sits there for a while, watching the stars in the sky or the water in the fountain.

One night, though, it's not quite so pleasant out. There wasn't a forecast for a storm, was there? Yet dark clouds have rolled in from somewhere, and they rumble ominously. The occasional flicker of lightning flares through the underside of the clouds. Thor himself is on his usual bench, chin resting on his fist, his gaze mutinously fixed on the fountain nearby. Either he hasn't noticed the weather, or he's deliberately ignoring it.]

d. philias

[The heat doesn't prove much of a deterrent to Thor. Muspelheim's fiery depths were more intense than this, fuelled as they were by molten lava and literal demons. Not to mention, the transportation jobs were plentiful, since not many wanted to haul loads around in this scorching weather. He does the sensible thing and gets most of the work done early (for what little morning is worth on a world jammed between two suns) before heading into the buildings proper to cool down a bit by dousing himself with a water bottle or two.

Yes, there are other ways to do it, but this is more immediately satisfying.]

Sokka | OTA

[personal profile] alwayscomeback 2018-02-01 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[A: Ebrion]

[If you think Sokka had enough of ice and snow in the last star system, you'd be very much mistaken. These sort of places are, and always will be, like a snapshot of home for him, and he's always happiest where it's cold.

He can be found fishing a lot, always happy to gather more food supplies for the ships- and willing to have anyone tag around to learn the art of ice fishing. Otherwise, he can be found digging around for ore and suchlike to take back to the Blue Fish. You never know when you need it. Whatever it is that he's doing when you come across him, he flashes a smile.
]

At least this is real snow and not, you know, syrupy weirdness, right?

[B: Duotera]

[Sokka spends a lot of his time here in the crafter's hall admiring various works. A couple of weeks in, he starts to bring his OWN things to the hall- thankfully things he's made in the forge, weapons and pieces of armour, things he's actually good at. Though there are a couple of ugly-ass statues amongst his other wares. Try to guess what they are! ]

[C: Philias]

[Sokka is not naturally inclined towards hot climates. He goes mostly to the beaches, where it's cooler- largely so he can say he's BEEN there. He goes about gathering metals from whatever vendors are still working, but boy does he not like the heat. ]

Okay, this is officially worse than the Boiling Lake.

[D: Wildcard]

[You have something different? THROW IT AT ME! ]

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2018-02-02 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Thor's already been here a few times, so when Sokka starts taking his own wares into the hall to sell he's happy enough to help with carrying them. Especially the ones that would usually be a two-person job. When he sets down the statue at the right place, he puts his hands on his hips and stares at it some more... then shakes his head.]

Does it have a name?

[Because he can't figure out what it's meant to be. Maybe a name would help.]

[Barry is also trolling for restaurants, and planning on staying on the temperate planet for the time being - unless Steve convinces him otherwise, which may happen, because Steve - but for now, he's just trying to stay comfortable and stretch his legs when he has the chance to.

When they reach a street that is just a row of restaurants with tables on the outside, he glances back to her with a smirk.]

What if you take the left, I take the right, and we just get one dish from each place to share?

[It seems like an easy way to try everything?]

[The job is a one off, a crate that needed to get down to the docks quickly because it was accidentally left off the original shipment, and for which the Flash is here for the job. So in comes Barry in a flash of red and gold lightning, and he skids to the stop not far from Thor, looking down to read the label and see where it's supposed to go.

And then he looks up and sees Thor with a grin.]

Hey! I think this is one of yours.
rebuildyourruins: (And make history.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2018-02-02 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Thor straightens up quickly when the burst of lightning comes in - not his own, clearly, but still very familiar to him.

Of course, Thor's changed a bit since the party where Barry met him. The loss of his hair and one eye being the most obvious signs.]

-- it looks like it! You came from the shipping yard already?

[It's not exactly close by.]

[He's a good friend, he really is. Sokka leans back to look at the ugly, misshapen monstrosity, putting a hand to his chin in pantomime thought. ]

I think it needs a really good, strong name. Like "thunderstorms over the icy blue" OH OH OH or maybe "SLASHINATOR!!!"
rebuildyourruins: (There goes HBO again.)

[personal profile] rebuildyourruins 2018-02-02 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Thor looks at it. Continues looking at it. What exactly says 'thunderstorms' about this? He can't work it out. And he's an expert on the subject.]

It doesn't have any sharp points though.

[This is the angle he's going with. It's lumpy, Sokka.]

Justice

[personal profile] whatisright 2018-02-04 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Wildcard

Justice needs a distraction. Things have been... hard for the past few weeks, and he doesn't like locking himself in his room and reading all day. So he goes out and makes himself helpful however he can, doing his best to keep himself busy. He has tentatively chosen to remain visible to those around him, but he is ready to go unseen the moment someone he isn't ready to speak to comes along. As much as he hates to admit it, he's still in an uncertain state of mind.

Even to those who don't know him, he doesn't look well. His face doesn't look quite right, and his complexion has become ashen, like he's sick. That doesn't stop him from running around everywhere, though.

Philias

Loyalty refuses to stay on this planet, so for once, Justice is alone. He is resistant to the heat, never looking as though he will sweat, but even he is forced to acknowledge the heat by taking off his shirt and putting on sunscreen.

"Would you please help me put this on my back?" he asks periodically to whomever passes by when it feels like the suns' rays have worn down the protection. The women of the planet--and a fair amount of men--don't seem to mind helping, though he is utterly oblivious to anything put the practicality of it.

He does everything that is possible to do, even things he usually would shrug at. He helps dig a new well. He delivers fresh flowers to graves for those who don't dare venture into the midday suns. He solves at least three decade-old murders.

He is a man possessed with the absolute need to work, especially to help others.

Ebrion

In Ebrion, Justice is much the same, though he keeps his shirt on and now he is followed by the loyal snow leopard who chose to follow him since the last planet.

Loyalty, as he'd come to call her, is happy to romp in the snow as Justice feverishly finds work to keep himself occupied. She rolls in the snow, stomps in the snow, and cheerfully wanders into random people's houses to track the snow everywhere. She is clearly completely untrained, and her fur is matted and thin in places--she is hardly underfed, but she has clearly not been getting a proper leopard diet.

At one point, Loyalty eats the wrong rat, and a very angry native carries her to Justice, who's busy shoveling the paths outside of an elderly man's house.

"Your cat ate my son's pet!" the native bellows, holding out Loyalty, who makes no attempt to look guilty. Justice barely looks at the native, busy as he is.

"She is not my cat," Justice says automatically with the air of someone who's said the exact same thing a hundred times. "She chose to stay in my company of her own free will."

The native shakes Loyalty for emphasis, which makes Justice look up and scowl. "She ate my son's rat! Do something!"

"Do felines not normally eat rats for food?" Justice takes Loyalty into his arms, if only to stop the shaking. Loyalty purrs and flops against his shoulder. "It seems unjust to punish her for slaying a creature for food. Shall we punish butchers as well?"

"She ate my son's pet!" the native bellows. It looks like this argument might go in circles for a while.

Interesting.

Leilani watches from a distance, at least for a little while, her head tilted as her eyes drink Justice in. As before, he's completely unaware of the impact his new body is having on the people around him; the natives of this planet are interested in him and he seems to be completely oblivious to the fact that he's attracting them. It's as though he's honey and they're flies, all desperate to come and talk to someone who is both handsome and kind all at once.

Walking over, she steps into his line of sight and reaches down, picking up the sun lotion before she shakes her head, offering him something like a smile. It's been just long enough that the sour ache from their last conversation is something of the past: she can relax, now, stepping behind him before she squeezes some of the cream into her hand.

"How long have you been out here now?"

Leilani. He feels her coming before she's there, and he briefly considers going unseen, but he finds himself craving her company. She's one of his few friends, and perhaps the only friend he has who isn't wrapped up in the horror of his future.

Her presence is an unexpected and unfathomable relief. Some tension leaves his shoulders that he didn't realize was there, and he stays still in anticipation for the lotion.

"I have been out here for three days," he says, as though that is a normal amount of time to toil in boiling heat. It's exhausting, but he's happy to feel like he's out and being productive. He's made a habit of sleeping recently, and he doesn't like what it's been doing to him. "There is much work to be done. It is good that I am here to do it, as the others risk heat stroke if they wander outside for too long."

[Natasha is out picking up supplies. Seems like a good time to stock up n things they won't have in space.

She's also out picking up something to eat herself—some of these stalls have something very similar to perogies. Seems like an all right lunch, all things considered.]

[Most of it is unfamiliar to Thor, which is to be expected - they are on another planet, and Asgard's food was pretty homogeneous due to its size. Unfamiliarity never stops him trying things though. He smiles easily when Natasha comes up, turning away from the skewers he was looking at for the moment.]

I am - I've just finished work, so now seems a good time for it. What about you?

somewhere aboard the blameless???

[personal profile] invigorates 2018-02-04 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
In the short time she has been aboard the Fleet, Lioriley has tried her best to acquaint herself with the rest of the Blameless crew. Unfortunately, some — either purposefully avoiding social interaction or otherwise — have managed to elude her. Lioriley does not actively hunt any of them down, of course, that would be rude, but there's a lingering excitement if and when she happens across someone she does not recognize.

Like Justice for instance. It happens seemingly randomly, with her catching sight of him out of the corner of her eye like hadn't been there a moment before. The tiny Lunari turns toward him, eyes wide with excitement; at least until she gets a good look at him. He doesn't look great — well, health wise anyway. Then again, maybe that's just how he looks? It's not like she has a means to compare him to any other state but this given how this is their first meeting. She's staring. She stops, glances to the wall briefly and then back to him.

"Good e—" a beat. "Evening?" time in space is stupid. "I do not believe we have met."
veilstrike: (moods that take me and erase me)

He's being honest with her, which is a good thing, at least. She had expected something akin to awkwardness, but the way he greets her has Leilani softening, relaxing a little even as she nods her head, rubbing the lotion into his skin. This, she thinks, is intimate, oddly, and gentle - something that she hadn't expected to share with him but she's not exactly uncomfortable with. If it hadn't been her it would've been one of the native population; she just happened to get there first.

"Three days?" Frowning, she tilts her head to look down at him. That's not a good amount of time, even for a spirit that might be able to do things that most humans would be incapable of. Telling him to stop doesn't seem like it might work, especially if there's a reason for Justice having been working out here for so long. It's not her place to pry, but as his friend she thinks it is her place to nudge him gently into talking.

"Isn't it time you took a break, then? I'm sure the people won't mind if you took twenty minutes away to spend some time with a friend."

[personal profile] trudge 2018-02-04 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Rowan doesn't need an excuse to be shirtless, but it's nice to have the option. The ungodly heat makes sure that Rowan, in all his battle-scarred glory, ends up with his own shirt off and a pair of sweet shorts on. You know the ones — bright, flower printed stupid things no man should wear. He'd go naked if he could but he'll at least give the locals the chance to imagine what might be underneath the pathetic excuse for clothes he's wearing right now.

Spoiler: It's hot and sweaty. That's what's under there right now. Rowan would complain were it not for certain benefits of things being hot and sweaty. Like seeing Justice donning - almost - the same look. Not that he knows it's Justice, given their last meeting involved him looking kind of corpse-y, but that won't stop him.

"Don't mind if I do." He says, grabbing the lotion and promptly slathering it all over the other man's shoulders. Nice and slow, kneading a bit. I hate him.

"A break?"

Justice is reluctant, and it shows in the furrow of his brow, but... her hands on his back are nice. Her voice and gentleness are nice. Being able to talk to someone important to him without obsessing over what will happen is nice.

He's lonely, but he doesn't quite know that that's what he feels. He leans into her touch, completely oblivious to the way some natives stare at them jealously from their places in the shade.

"...I suppose there is no harm in spending twenty minutes with you," he allows.

Justice has seen the new arrival around. She hasn't seen him because he's chosen not to allow her to, but sometimes he forgets that he's never revealed himself to many of his crewmates. He feels her staring, and for a moment he's tempted to disappear again, but he keeps himself visible. He can't avoid people forever.

Or he can, but that sounds miserable.

"We have not met." Justice doesn't mean to sound curt, but that's how it comes out as he dips his head in greeting. "You are Lioriley, lab support. I am the security officer."

As usual, he forgets to give his title. Names are such a mortal thing, and he may never get used to how attached they are to them.
invigorates: (You have to mash it to murder.)

She blinks owlishly at that, momentarily confused at the fact that he already knows her name and position aboard the ship. Maybe someone else told him? Definitely a possibility.

Either way, she doesn't seem to take his curtness as an insult or potential offense, and bows her head in greeting. "We have not, and yet you know my name before I know yours." She says with a quiet little laugh as she raises her head again, attempting - if he so allows - to look him in the eyes as she speaks. "'Tis a pleasure to meet you, ser."

Maybe afterward I'll get something else useful done.
