[March 5, Video/Text]

[This time the video is very brief. Kaname smiles at the camera with Q-Lulu positioned in front of it. She looks at the mercat and opens her mouth before suddenly stopping, smile leaving her face. There's another moment before she reaches over and turns off the feed, expression troubled.

A few minutes later, a text message appears.]

People have had strange things happen to them here, right? Sudden changes. How long do those usually last? [Another moment follows, then another question.] Has anything not gone back to normal?

[Bloodsport and Iskaulit, Until the 9th]

[Following that, for the rest of the week, Kaname will be going about her usual routines. However, anyone who runs into her may notice she more withdrawn and not singing at all. Running, dancing, working out, grabbing a bite, the singer is solo for all of these.]

Well, I'm part cat now, so you could say strange things happen. [Remember her from the time she was drunk and also not at all a cat?] About a week? Or more or less which is probably not the most helpful. Changing back kind of depends on what caused it in the first place though.

Kaname sticks to text, but her eyebrows shoot up at Kitty's appearance. How literal...]

[She rolls on with video since typing is harder with the claws anyway, but she is curious about the text and the sudden switch to it before.

...A fishcat?]

Strange things can have different causes. It might be an augment malfunction from the Atroma, but it could be someone's powers doing something unexpected or maliciously. Or an effect of a plant we're on or near. I mean, not right now, but at other times.

You're probably thinking of a right now thing though, aren't you?

I was turned into a nine-year-old for a while.

[Yeah... he hadn't been thrilled about that one.

But, he also knew that Kaname was probably pretty worried right about now. Her voice was important.]

[ The moment that Alisha spots Kaname is the moment that she notices that something seems off. The distant expression tells her that much. ]

Kaname? Good afternoon. [ It's not her business, but... if something is wrong, then perhaps it's something Alisha can help with. ]

[Kaname looks over from the kitchen counter where she's preparing something to eat. Seeing Alisha, she offers her a smile and nod in greeting. Holding up the dish--a sandiwch-- she looks at her curiously, seeming to ask if she wants some.]

[ She's quick to catch on to what she's asking. She nods, offering a soft smile in return. ]

I'd love some, thank you. [ She pauses. ] How are you doing today?

[That was a strange and concerning video. As is the text that follows. He debates calling her up, but as this is the format she chose to reach out with, it seems best to answer back with the same.]

i've heard of it happening, but i haven't seen it myself. [Though it seems to be rampant on the fleet right now.] is everything ok? r u ok?

[In all honesty, she feels sort of uncertain asking this, but with Keith busy with Lance's change, and Freyja being Freyja, he's the one she feels most comfortable with.]

I actually lost my voice. It's strange, and I really don't like it. It feels like I'm incomplete in a way, as silly as it sounds.

If you're not busy, can you come over?

[And if there's someone she wants to fill the silence, it'd be him.]

[He's about to answer the other text when the private message arrives. He frowns.]

it's not silly. your voice is like a big part of who you are.

[As long as it takes to get decently dressed and hop a shuttle from his ship to hers, he's there.]

[There's been...definitely something missing the past day. When Cloud passes by Kaname in the hall he stops, half turns hesitatingly and then turns all the way and jogs back over to her.] Kaname- hey, wait up.

[Since their last major conversation, Kaname's been giving him space. Polite greetings and innocuous small talk are what she's limited their interactions to. She doesn't fault him and hopes that's been evident.

So when he calls out to her, she turns, confusion evident in her expression.]

[Yeah, and her being quietly understanding has ramped up his guilt complex to eleven. Not that it's her fault at all, and he figures he probably should be guilty considering she did nothing to deserve his temper.]

You, uh. [Hands into his pockets, not quite meeting her eyes.] I haven't heard you singing since yesterday. Are...is everything okay?

[Kaname's usually so chill and chipper that it's impossible to not notice when she's down, so before long Zack catches her in the kitchen, tilting his head as he watches her work away in silence. She's usually at least humming, so this is weird.]

Hey, you okay? You seem kinda bummed.

[Honestly, Kaname feels she should've known better than to not address her shipmates right away about what's going on. Their observance and concern is truly touching, and she does genuinely appreciate it. Unfortunately, her inability to easily relay that information puts a damper on that, especially when her comm is across the room on the table.

So she does what she can. Which is tap the back of her head where the augment is, then point to her throat. Let her finish making her food if more answers are needed.]

[....Ahhhh. Well, shit, that's terrible. She's a singer, right? Or at the very least sings a lot. It'd be like suddenly losing the ability to use his sword hand or something.

Zack huffs thoughtfully, arms crossing over his chest, then snaps his fingers and charges right out of the kitchen again without so much as a goodbye- or a "be right back", in this case.

He does return a moment or so later, probably by the time she's done prepping her food, and holds out what he'd gone to fetch: a small whiteboard, still smudged with leftover engineering notes and some numbers indicating a to-do list. The pen and eraser are clipped to the edge, and the rest of the board's surface features a big "D:<" on it, with a speech bubble that says "ATROMA SUCKS".]
