sixteenth labyrinth | Party because I can
Who: Felix Harrowgate and you
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Málum
When: Today-ish
[It's largely boredom that leads Felix to this decision. Either in the Mirador or Paradisa, he'd been fond of finding any reason whatsoever to get a few people together for food and drinks. The company generally meant more than the setting, though of course it was far easier to arrange things at a snap of his fingers than it was here. Still, he manages it within a few days of the fleet's time adrift.
That morning, he addresses the network.]
Hello again, dear fleet. Felix Harrowgate of the Goldstone here, if we haven't yet met. I've put together a little soirée this evening, at Málum. Consider it an appreciation of our time of peace and quiet...or the beginnings of spring. Whichever sounds best to you. It isn't much, admittedly, but there is food and drinks and hopefully people. May as well enjoy things before something else explodes, hm?
Oh, and semi-formal attire would be appreciated, not that I intend on turning anyone out at the door. I'm sure many of us have a little something in our closet that doesn't much get to see the light of day. [Well, not so much in his case, of course, but the point stands]
See you all tonight. [He closes the feed with a smile]
[That night Málum is - not transformed, exactly, but - altered. The stark furniture softened with simple white tablecloths, with centerpieces cobbled together from wine glasses, candles, and flowers from the garden. The neon, for the night, has been switched off. Even the galaxy of lights on the dancefloor have been changed to project the shape of flowers.
The food laid out is fairly basic but fitting the bar's wheelhouse - meats cooked inside puff pastry, thin stacks of sauteed vegetables, and mini quiches to name of few. The finale sits in the form of the lemon cake (commissioned, likely, from the Melting Pot). Some of the flavor is even real lemon!
Drinks are free within reason and music plays softly in the background, for anyone that feels like dancing. Felix would have preferred more classical selections, but all of this is a case of working with what you have.]
[EDIT: If you wait too long Sansa will have stolen most of the cake]
((ooc: This is essentially a mingle, so feel free to make your own top levels and have some fun!))

You going to keep the decorations? Definitely gives the place a new vibe.

Hipster?
[ He has... never actually heard the term, Crowley. It is very out of use in his era. ]

Either you do look trendy or you don’t. Why would you want to try to do something and not look it? That just sounds like canceling your own trendiness out.
[ He doesn’t believe your made up words Crowley. ]

And yet you embrace it... So does that make you a hipster?

Where would I fit into popular colloquialisms then?

[ He laughed ]
Well now you have to tell me!

[Crowley forgets nothing. ]
no subject
Well, I apologize for that and this time there is a bar between us and it’s a party. I do have manners despite what some might think.

[Felix who he loves fiercely and without hesitation, who he'd rather not have to deal with a show like that, unrequited as it is.]
There's a few, none of them are particularly nice terms, as are the ones that usually centre around those who enjoy sex more than the average person. You won't like them.

Nympomaniac? Playboy? I’ve had whore thrown at me a couple of times too. Usually when I’ve made someone mad.

[ He laughed. ]
Cockhop? I haven’t actually heard that one. I kind of like it. I do like the ladies too, just... I’ve felt it more with the men here.
[ A shrug because what can you do? You either feel it or you don’t. ]
Want to learn some new ones? Traveling the universe let’s you pick some interesting insults very quickly.

[He grins, taking a sip of his drink. ]
Oh, please do.

Hmm, well one of the most classic would have to be from the Klingon. It's a more mild one, but it's a good starter.
[ He cleared his throat and the sound that came out was guttural and short, almost scrappy. ]
petaQ.
[ It sounds like "pah-tahk" when he says it. ]
The rough translation is 'son of a bitch', but it has a wide variety of uses honestly.

petaQ. Oooh, I like it.

[ Kirk laughed and thought for a moment before he chuckled to himself. ]
Oh, this has always been one of my favorites...
[ He coughed and seemed to be screwing his mouth into the right formation to create the worst, which were sharp and almost hissing, but not quite. ]
Enach kaf loquet maphaq.
Basically it means "I hope your cock pickles".

Oh I like that one even better. They sure know how to insult someone properly, don't they?
no subject
There are some pretty creative ones, especially in languages that a human mouth can't actually make. But even in space, it's true - you learn the insults first.

They're just the easiest, I've found. Easier to pick out. And if you ask me one of the most important parts of any language. How people insult each other says a lot about a culture.
