Uh... Uh-huh.

[The sudden stop has their seat rocking for a moment. It's not a good feeling.]

Think someone else is getting on?

[There's no way to check without leaning over the side to peer down. The question seems to answer itself the longer they sit there, however.]

I think it would've been a smoother stop if they were...

[She's not super worried, but Kaname does try to angle to see behind them and down at the bottom. It's an uncomfortable position, so after a moment, she turns forward again, shaking her head.]

I don't see any movement. We might be stuck for now.

[Ahhh. Don't do that! He keeps a hand on her while she does the super-dangerous act of looking down.]

Oh. Okay. That's cool. Stuck on a Ferris wheel. Should have known you can't trust a fully automated theme park.

[There's a small chuckle of agreement to his last statement.] Not completely, no. At least it's not the roller coaster, right?

[Kaname looks to Prompto, then sees his face. Her tone immediately changes to one of concern.]

Are you sure you're all right...?

[He tries to laugh at the roller coaster comment. It comes out a bit breathless and reedy. Not his best work.

He nods his head quickly, hands tapping a nonsense rhythm on the bar in front of them.] Yeah. Yep. I'm good. Fine. Perfect. It's all good.

[That's most definitely a lie if she's ever heard one. Hesitating at first, she eventually slides closer to him and places her hand over one of his, giving it a light squeeze to get his attention.]

You don't have to tell me anything if you're not comfortable with it, okay? [Even though she hopes that's not the case.] Just tell me what I can do to help.

[Wow, rude. His delivery was totally convincing.]

It's not a big deal. It's fine! [He pauses, considers. The date's already hit one big snag. It couldn't possibly be made worse by just telling the truth.] Just not a big fan of heights, is all.

[It was okay when they were in motion. Hell, he'd been skydiving with Keith, which was terrifying, but it was like, controlled, right? He'd scooted across thin, high ledges, but there was an end in sight, a way out. Here, they're just sitting in a basket with no way off or down, and that feels very wrong.]

[Oh. Her face falls a little, and she can't help feeling sort of guilty, even if she knows there's no real reason for her to. She gives an apologetic smile.]

I'm sorry. I wouldn't have suggested this if I'd known.

[Despite this, she still wants to try and have a good time. Kaname moves away to give him space, but still keeps her hand on his.]

Do you want to try for another picture?

[He waves a hand, warding off her apology. He didn't want her to feel bad about this. If it was that big a deal, he wouldn't have agreed to getting on the ride in the first place. (Also, he didn't want to look like a coward in front of the girl he had a crush on. Priorities.)] Nah. Don't worry about it. It was fun until we stopped moving.

[He grins at the suggestion, swiftly bringing his camera out in front of them. Maybe she's just trying to distract him, but it works.]

Yes, actually. Let's get one you'll like.

Mm, if you're sure. [It actually puts her at ease again, as she looks over and smiles. The speediness of the camera appearing earns a laugh, and Kaname slides back over, playfully bumping his shoulder with hers.]

On three? [Settling in, she turns towards the lens with a smile. Three... two...

Only to turn to him at the last second and quickly kiss him on the cheek as the camera goes off. It'll make a good picture.]

[Now it's his turn to look silly and surprised. He nearly drops the camera, but fumbles it into this lap before it's lost forever on the concrete below.]

U-um... [Oh boy, it's getting hot up here.] That's cheating.

Does that mean you're objecting to it? I won't do it again if you don't want me to, even if I really liked it.

[Kaname rests her head on his shoulder so he can't see the smile trying to fight its way on to her face. She's not one for too much teasing, but something about this is too fun to pass up.]

No! No, no objection. Just wasn't expecting it. [He laughs nervously, his hands turning his camera over and over until he finally switches modes to view the newest photo. He's making a face that's caught halfway between a cheesy smile and shock. The angle's all wrong. There's a glare from the sun hitting the metal behind them. Kaname looks perfect. It's a keeper.]

It's fine, if you wanna do it again...

Hmm. [She lets out an amused hum, then lifts her head and does it again before settling back against him.]

That was the point. Consider us even for you surprising me the first time. [Kaname does catch a glimpse of the picture and smiles at his expression in it.]

You know, I told Freyja about us, and she said it was about time.

[That was less surprising, but he's still red as a tomato.]

Fine. Even. But now I need to get an actual good photo.

[His eyes narrow in thought at her final comment.]

What does that mean, "about time"?

[She can't help but chuckle at him as she takes his hand again.]

We'll look for a better spot, then.

[And now it's her turn to pause. Prompto might notice the time it takes her to actually answer the question coupled with her quieter voice.]

Oh, well... She knew I liked you for a couple months before I mentioned anything. That's all.

[He curls his fingers around hers with a nod, marveling at the simple act of simply holding hands.

He's silent a moment, taking in her answer and letting it sink in.]

...A couple months?

[His tone causes her to lift her head from his shoulder and look at him, somewhat sheepishly.]

Mhm. Is that surprising? [Her cheeks are gaining a little color.]

Well...k-kinda. [He shrugs, biting his lip.] I'm surprised you like me at all. You're, um... You're really great.

The feeling's mutual, you know. [Kaname moves gently, releasing his hand to guide his arm around her as she leans against him once more.]

I think I'm pretty lucky to be here right now. [She exhales softly, mulling a few things over before speaking again.] Relationships here probably come about differently than most places. With such a limited number of people and never knowing what's next, the usual going on dates and gradually getting to know each other is more difficult. You already told me a huge part about yourself before you knew how I felt.

[The barcode. Her eyes momentarily drift to his wrist.] What I think I'm wondering is if it's all right for me to consider myself your girlfriend.

[She doesn't move, content to relax with him, but she stays still and quiet to try and pick up any reaction he might have to her thoughts.]

That's a relief! [A joke, even if it's true. He's glad to know she feels the same.

He hums softly as she speaks. He's never been too comfortable with serious stuff. Easier to avoid and deflect. But he'd told her about the bar code because he needed to know if it mattered. If she couldn't have accepted that part of him, there wouldn't have been any point in remaining friends.]

Oh... Um, yeah. I mean, if you want. I would like that.

You realize this means you'd be stuck with me now, right? I want to be sure. [It's mostly in jest, but she does want to make certain he's okay with it and isn't saying yes simply because she asked. The last thing she wants to do is pressure him for anything.

There's more she wants to say, however, it can wait until they fully clear this up. Kaname waits with only a little anticipation.]

Counterargument. You're stuck with me. [Which is to say, yes, he's sure. Is she?]

[Kaname chuckles, deciding to try it on for size.]

You're my boyfriend now. [She smiles.] It has a nice ring to it.
