What the hell--

[ There's a clunk as the communication device is dropped down onto the ground - and the room is one that's filled with greenery, plants here and there with grass where the floor should be. There's another crash as someone wobbly seems to slip and hit the wall. Even though there's a voice, there's no actual person on screen.

Anyone on the Huntress who peeks in will notice that it's definitely Zaveid... But a little bit different.

Kind of rather a lot different, actually.

Bending down, there's the sound of someone who is incredibly frustrated - a man who has no idea what is going on who wants to throw the device halfway across the room again, but...

Then he pokes it. Hard. If the device wasn't a touch bit of machinery it might crack, but luckily it's a bit tougher than his finger. ]

Who the hell...

[ Eventually, Zaveid makes his way through the Huntress, storming through the ship. There's an awful, sinking feeling inside of him - since he can feel the connection he shares with Sorey he's desperately on edge, almost snarling like a wild animal as he makes his way through. ]

[ There's a grunt and the sound of someone fumbling a little, but -- eventually he manages to reply, though it seems as though it's through gritted teeth. ]

-- Eizen? What the hell is going on!?

[ Almost immediately something doesn't sit well with him, a gut feeling that has Eizen moving. ]

I─ [ Shit. ] Stay where you are, I'm coming to you.

[ He's grousing, very loudly and dramatically. ]

You really think I'm just gonna sit still?

[ There's a moment of quiet before... Heck, he recognises that voice. ]

... What're you doin' here?

[That is like the least helpful thing to say and she knows but she's bad and doesn't feel like explaining over the stupid communicators.]

[unfortunately, all he hears is the crashes and loud noises and peeking into the room . . . nothing.

Just how many ghosts were on this ship, why didn't he think to ask about that. He eyes the floating device]

Everything all right in here, ghost? [...] Ghosts? Fuck if I know.

[ He should be used to humans not being able to see him - that's how it was - but he'd gotten comfortable with being seen. This is just... Weird. ]

Where the hell am I?

[oh, he can hear this one. Must be a different ghost]

You're on The Huntress, it's a space ship. You just get here?

I woke up here. [ And he feels a kind of discomfort he can't put into words. ] Who are you?

[Something's different today; Mikleo can feel it, a bit, but it's subtle and confusing and he can't place it no matter how hard he tries. He gives up halfway through his morning routine and heads out of his room to carry on with his day. Maybe he'll discuss it with Sorey next time he sees him.

Once washed, dressed, and comfortable, he's on his way to the little farm in engineering when he hears it-- what exactly is that stomping noise...?]

[Something has felt off all day. Sorey could feel it, the sudden imbalance of power when he woke, but nobody felt weak or in danger so he'd just assumed someone was having an off day and left it alone. He couldn't hover over everyone like he's their mom or something, he'd scolded himself as he prepared to go through his day. Edna and Zaveid are like thousands of years his senior. They know how to come to him if they need him.

So he'd proceeded to engineering, started his daily chores; just started the down-cycle for engine maintenance when all of a sudden he figures it out. It's Zaveid. He's...weaker?

-oh heck. It's gotta be a glitch.

Sorey grabs his cloak and pulls it back on, heading out the door. He's got to find Zaveid right away; if something happened Sorey doesn't want him leaving his domain, just in case he's been weakened somehow and become more susceptible to malevolence.]

-Zaveid? [Oh wow he's right there and he....looks different? Kinda cool actually] Are you okay?

[ The rolling feeling of a connection has been bothering him since he woke up in this place. There's a sense of painful nostalgia about it, but Zaveid can't quite recognise it for what it is - not when the last time he felt it he'd had his very personality sapped away from him, servitude the only thing he could consider and think about. The freedom to reign and live with this makes the bond feel a little more like a comforting embrace than anything else; he can reach out with his mind and feel something, something that a part of him thinks he ought to trust.

It's only when Sorey actually approaches him that it all seems to click in his head.

When Zaveid turns to face Sorey the only thing colouring his features is a look of absolute terror. It's as if he's seen a nightmare come to life and if he were anything like a human his skin could go pale, as if the life itself was being drained from him. Seeing Sorey leaves Zaveid looking as though he is so, so afraid that he's become a statue, as if moving would give away his position, as if staying still might be the only thing that saves his life. The fact that he's connected to this person, that they're tethered, that he is bound to someone has horror shaping his features until his lips twist into a snarl.

Moving quickly, he steps back and reaches for his holster - but there's no gun there, no weapon to defend himself, nothing to help him escape. If he could shoot himself in the head he could break his connection with this human, but he can't, and the panic seizes him as quickly as his wind wraps around him. Instead of his gun he reaches for his pendulums, back against the wall and eyes narrowed as he glares at Sorey.

The intensity there is almost shocking - it's the kind of intensity that comes from being both younger and not quite in control of your emotions, especially when you've woken up in a brand new place with no freedom to promise you escape. ]

Get the hell away from me!

[He was right to go looking, turns out. That strange feeling only intensifies the closer he gets to Sorey's location, because something else is coming- familiar, yet not. Mikleo quickens his pace, moving from walk to run, and abruptly goes still when he hears the shout around the corner. Familiar again. That's Zaveid, and it's been a very, very long time since he'd heard him sound that angry.

Sorey's there-

He follows the link as a guideline and windsteps to catch up, closing the distance and thrusting his body between Sorey and Zaveid, one who at a glance looks different. Not quite younger, per se, but the hair is telling. He looks just like Mikleo remembers seeing in those dreams, where he'd seen Theodora and the dragon she'd become. Which tells him everything his needs to know.

He plants himself firmly between Zaveid and the Shepherd, arms spread, fingers tingling with preemptive energy but not doing anything, not yet. He can call his staff or an arte if he has to, but they can't afford to fight here.]

Stop, don't attack!

[Keith heard him stalking through the ship before he saw him. Used to being around the seraphim for a while now, he was finally able to actually hear them instead of just getting the disembodied voices and the occasional floating pieces of clothing.

But, wait, there was more...

Zaveid, sure, but... younger? Keith looked confused for a second and then... oh, right. Glitch. Keith had been made so much younger than that, though...]

Uh, hey... Zaveid... you okay?

[ He doesn't quite stop in his long strides, at least at first, but hearing his name... He hesitates, shifting a little before he breathes out sharply. ]

Who the hell are you?

[tempredmental]

[Well, then... this was definitely more of something than it had been for Keith. He'd still had his proper memories intact.]

Oh... sorry. I'm Keith. I'm pilot on this ship. We sort of work together...?

[humene]

[The broadcast catches Eleanor off-guard. It's a face she recognizes, of course, but it doesn't take her long to spot the difference. This is the Zaveid from her time, not the Zaveid from the future.]

[She'd heard that it wasn't out of the question for people to grow younger here,
but this is more than she was expecting.]

Zaveid? Are you alright?

[ All the thumping at the device makes everything go a little out of whack, but Zaveid recognises that voice -- ]

Eleanor?

Yes, it's me. What's the last thing you remember?

Action, after Mikleo and Sorey

[Edna was all for stepping in and helping her Nerds, even against the big idiot.

But she remembers all too well the way that he acted during the Calibrations. He was still just as stupid and she'd realized what was going on.

Better to let the boys deal with their gross father figure while she tries to figure how what's going on. It's definitely not Calibrations again, since he's the only one affected. Wonderful. When things calm down, Edna comes out for Zaveid.]

Are you going to behave now? Or do you need to be punched?

[ There's a moment where Zaveid doesn't quite know what to do, but he frowns as he sees Edna step forward. He's seen her once before, when the idiot from the Exorcists had tried to use her against Eizen, but... He doesn't think this is an illusion this time.

Carefully, he leans against the wall, watching with a relaxed look on his face that barely disguises his intensity. ]

You really gonna come into a man's room and punch him?

[It's good to see that suddenly losing a thousand years makes him a little bearable, but not much. Instead of being a strangely intensely mopey, he's just intensely annoying to her.

But she'll take it for now.]

It's an option that works. Besides, if I have to share a Vessel with you, I'd rather have the ability of punching you when you're too stupid.
