[She's put this off for weeks now in the vain hope that Fenris would suddenly turn back up one day, grumpy as usual. Some people only vanish briefly, don't they? But there's only so many double shifts she can pull, and while they've been welcome in the order of not thinking about various things (this place, all those deaths, her death, and oh Luceti, that's an interesting one) there comes a point where you both (a) have to acknowledge you're in denial and (b) fall asleep in the shuttle bay before you ever leave the Iskaulit.

Damn you, Fenris. It's not going to be the same without you. This is your friend's bar.]

I guess it's that time of year again. The Space Bar needs new staff! I'm looking for someone with decent bartending experience or just someone who's really fast at learning. Pay's good, so if you'd like an extra source of credits for work you choose to be doing, hit me up. I'm also looking for one or two people who'd be willing to act as relief staff, because this place does a number on reliability at the best of times.

[Like when its proprietor vanishes completely for a month, that was fun.]

....also, tell me if you've found a favourite food or drink on this planet. I'm restocking, it benefits everyone if I can have on hand what people enjoy the most.

[Well, the snoring at least reassures Katara that Nami isn't dead. She kneels beside her, one hand going out to gently shake Nami's shoulder.] Nami?

[She comes awake fast enough, eye cracking open to peer blearily at Katara. Well, maybe "awake" isn't quite the word, but she's in there.]

Sup? Summin' wrong?

I mean... you're asleep on the floor in the shuttle bay, so maybe I should be asking you that.

[Frown. She moves the back of her hand to Nami's forehead to take her temperature.]

[Only slightly elevated. In that overtired kind of way. But she sits up straight after that, yawning, and gives a wince because let's face it, a hard bay floor is not the greatest comfort.]

No, I just didn't sleep well last night, that's all. Didn't actually mean to hit the floor but I guess I...slid. [She peers behind her at the Bloodsport shuttle.]

Sorry. [Yawn.] I promise I'm just tired this time.

...[This time?]

Then maybe we should get you someplace where you can sleep that isn't so... [exposed. uncomfortable. frightening.] ...awful.

[Tact. Katara has it. Somewhere.]

Yeah. [She wipes her eyes, still yawning, and tries to blink the sleep away.] You're not wrong. Way better places to sleep. But I can probably get home okay from here.

Of course you can. [That's said sincerely, decisively.] Because I'm going with you.

[Look. if you are going to be falling down tired, there is no way Katara is going to let you operate a shuttle like this, that is not what friends do.] Do you want to head back to your ship or find a place to sleep some more here?

[Aw, man, she's starting to get a feeling why they were such good friends, too.]

...home if it's not too much issue. There's not really any place on the Iskaulit to bed down that comfortably.

Home's fine. [She straightens up and offers Nami a hand.] C'mon. You'll be a lot more comfortable with blankets.

[She takes the hand, letting herself get pulled to her feet. Steady enough once up, though she's still fighting a yawn. By way of explanation--]

My long term partner at the bar went home a few weeks ago. I've just been working a lot to cover.

Oh. [ She knows a bit about that kind of thing. ]

That's rough. I guess you must have been pretty busy.

[ As if it was just the traffic to the bar keeping from getting any sleep. ]

[The weird thing is she and Fenris didn't talk much. He wasn't the most social guy, but they still checked in on each other, and he'd been at the bar since day one...

Bah.] Very. I didn't want to find new staff just in case he came back-- that happens sometimes. [Probably at Luceti, too. She darts a thoughtful glance at Katara before keying the shuttle hatch open.] But I think I'm officially out of time.

[ A small sound of agreement, acknowledgement. She gets that. ]

Well, if he comes back, he can always split time with the new staff.

[ As if that was all the problem. She watches Nami's movements carefully, trying to measure if she should insist on flying the shuttle or not. ]

Screw him. He's lost his chance, fired forever. [She doesn't mean a single word, but it's fun to grump.

And she's moving with enough clarity that she probably wouldn't crash the shuttle, but the heaviness in her movements shows she's still tired as hell and prone to faceplanting again the second it's safe to do so. She won't complain if Katara insists, that's for sure.]

[ Yeah, she's moving like she's very tired. Katara follows Nami into the shuttle, but moves over to the pilot seat. ]

Why don't I drive. I could use the practice, and you could shut your eyes.

[Tempting. She should say no. But.]

If you need the practice, sure. You done much flying yet?

[But she's gonna clamber in and slide over to the passenger side anyway.]

Well, Ben can't fly. And it's the only way to get here or to the planet if I don't want to wait around for someone to take me. And she is not really the waiting around for someone to take her type. [ She slides into the driver's seat. ]

It's just really weird because we have nothing like this back home and I don't know exactly how or why I'm doing what I'm doing, but I know how to do it anyway. At least a little. [ She hates it. ] I'd really like to know how to do this stuff without the augment, but I haven't found someone who knows how all the controls work independently yet to teach me.

Ben, Ben... [She met a Ben today. The augments are discomfiting, she knows, but she can at least muzzily turn the conversation to light things.]

I met a Ben today. He applied to work at the bar, said he'd heard of me. Think it's the same one?

[Are you tellin tales Katara]

Maybe? [She doesn't know how many Bens there are (such a strange name) or how often you come up in conversation. In Luceti, knowing Nami was kind of... well, everyone Katara knew in Luceti knew Nami, anyway.

She starts up the shuttle] Dark hair, older? Kind of... grumpy without it being personal, with a kindness to him?

[All the bad guys knew her, too. Downside.]

Sounds like it could be him. [Yawn.] He's nice enough. I'm gonna train him up in a couple days, see how it goes.

Train him up for what? [Beginning to lift off. The way the augment made it so that she knew just what switch to flip was so weird.]

Bartending. I had enough offers I want to see all of them working in the field before I make a choice. So to speak.

[She settles back in the seat after watching Katara a moment. Girl knows what she's doing.]

[ Mostly, Katara's relying on the augment still. It annoys her, but she doesn't know how to learn without it since... the knowledge is already instinctively there. ]

That makes sense, since you'll be stuck working with them. I'm kind of surprised Ben volunteered for that kind of job. [He is not what she thinks of as a people person, which... the only bartenders she knew certainly were.

She begins to fly them out into space.] Which one is your ship, Nami?

The Bloodsport. Great name, I know.

Ben's new as well. It could be he just wants something to do with all his suddenly spare time.

[Yawn.]

Yeah, that's... creepy. [Sorry, but it is.] And probably, coming in to a place like this is a lot to adjust to.

[Glancing at Nami.] ...how long have you been running the bar?
