Who: The burrito of death (aka Tek)
Broadcast: Audio, open to the fleet
Action: Bloodsport cargo hold
When: Broadcast day after the attack - Action open all month
[this one is sent in audio only, because goodness no one needs to see his current face--though, his voice isn't right either. it's too light, too delicate, and there is a little too much purr to it. especially without the aid of a video feed, it's hard to tell whether the speaker is male or female or monster at all.
and the tone is nothing but flat.]
Everyone is safe and accounted for? Nothing is entirely amiss? Wonderful.
[he isn't bitter about no one asking about his absence at all. nope. not one bit.]
So, I guess it's about time to start returning to our old routine, hmm? Everyone ready for things to go back to normal? Especially with such a good distraction from our recent little 'vacation home,' I know I sure am ready to forget about everything that just happened.
[this weapons-grade sarcasm could burn a hole through the floor.]
Especially with all of this new spending cash. ...Have you all checked your accounts today? The bonuses are already rolling in.
Isn't it wonderful.
[this sorry creature feels sickened and infuriated and doesn't have the strength to vent it any other way. so, a pissy broadcast it is!
and for anyone wandering the Red Fish any time soon, he can be found actually sitting up now. still wrapped in blankets and misery, but he's at least upright. it's a step.]

Voice
[oh the deadest voice in the land.]

Also I resigned. You know what I didn't sign up for with the captain gig?
Fucking aliens trying to kill us, that's what.
no subject
You... what?
no subject
It was a bloody joke, and it's not worth all that hassle.

You'll lose the perks, you know.
That bed still says 'captain' on it.
no subject
Yeah, well. I'll just stick to my own bed. We have our own quarters now, anyway, right? I'll just get a bunch of cushions or something.

there's still another one of those little, hanging pauses, though. and the bitterness in his voice increases.]
Did she tell you what happened?
no subject
Hell, you know I don't pay attention to half the bullshit going on in this place.
encrypted;
Yes she did--because of what I am.
That doesn't bother you in the least?
encrypted;
Wait.
I'm missing something. What exactly did she do? And I'm not entirely sure what you are, so I'm not sure where the problem is.
encrypted;
and as good as he normally is about keeping anything with weight out of his voice, the deeper bitterness is really starting to seep in now. short and clipped and coldly livid.]
I'm what most mortals call a monster, so her and her little sword-waving friends hunted me down.
encrypted;
...Wait, you were the dragon everyone was blathering on about?
Huh. Did she know it was you?
encrypted;
[trying not to get more bothered by this whole thing than he already is, and mostly failing.]
encrypted;
Mentality is a biggie. They take time to change and understand what they know isn't true for all worlds.
So yeah, it does matter.
encrypted;
[yeah, getting angry now.]
Where I'm from, we were created to guide and protect their ungrateful hides... but has that stopped them from banding together to hunt us down whenever they catch the faintest rumor of us? No.
So, please spare me a lecture about differences. It is a widespread theme that follows us everywhere, regardless of differing, inconsequential details.
I'd thought you of all people would have understood that.
encrypted;
No, I'm not. If you'd just pay attention.
It doesn't matter if we were created to protect or destroy them. Mortals have the same reaction to everything they don't understand, and that's pure unmitigated violence. Given the fact their lives are short, and can be snuffed out at the slightest thing, this is unsurprising. They see a rampaging dragon, they're not going to think "well, gosh, that might be something that exists to protect us", they're going to think "oh shit, it's a fucking dragon, we need to kill it before it kills us."
That's just how mortals are. Getting pissy at them is pointless endeavour. It won't change their basic nature. It'd be like yelling at the wind to stop blowing.
That sort of thing needs to be taught. You teach them not to murder the giant rampaging dragon and...well, some of them probably still will, but some will pay attention. Until they know otherwise, they'll fall back on stabby kill kill.
encrypted;
but he's tired. and he doesn't particularly want to be right in this case, compared to other instances. it isn't the heart of what's really upsetting him anyway.]
I think I have every right to be angry.
Are you going to try and convince me that it doesn't bother you in the least?
encrypted;
[He gives an annoyed hiss. This is skirting too close to admitting he actually cares for his liking. ]
Of course it fucking bothers me, but I don't know what you want me to do about it.
encrypted;
whatever it is, he's immediately feeling a small fraction better. it's just enough to show.]
That there is a start.
encrypted;
So. Do you need healing, or something? How on the mend are you, exactly?
encrypted;
[and it's a flippant question, because he's not exactly expecting the answer to be a positive one.]
The necromancer who brought me back... [ugh, and he grimaces around the word. necromancers are not his favorite people.] ...he did it wrong. So, I don't know how long it will be until I'm healed.
encrypted;
[Left over from WHAT, he may or may not say.]
I didn't even know we had one. Shame he's sloppy.
encrypted;
Oh, we certainly do. And on top of it, it's one who doesn't like to listen to simple solutions, and would rather twist someone's soul around his own way instead.
encrypted;
Do you want to be healed or not? Because I'm about ready to sleep for a week otherwise.
[He's not going to give Tek the chance to dance around it. It's not a thing he offers easily, after all. ]
encrypted;
[and he... sighs, a little.]
...And healing magic doesn't generally take to me very well. We tend to... clash.
