Can Any Of Us Even Get Drunk
Who: Space Bar staff and special guests
Broadcast: N/A
Action: Space Bar!
When: One fine night after closing
[The Space Bar staff made good use of the ever-replenishing alcohol supply at their last stop, and Nami and Remy got around to discussing the idea of testing various experimental mixes to come up with new additions for the menu. I mean, add to that Nami hasn't made a decision which one of the applicants should take the main bar job, so clearly the best idea is to shove them all into one place and ply them with alcohol while they talk to each other and work it out after that.
No, it's a good idea. Shut up.
...okay. It may just be a good excuse for a party. Sue her.]
((ooc: this is a mingle! It's open to job applicants and regulars who hold their liquor and their plus ones. If you think that might mean you, you're more than welcome here!))

Pretty good! I just dropped in to see how Ben was doing, [ she raises her glass - does the bar serve soda? because then it's pretty obviously soda in her glass, ] and get a drink. But it's a good chance to meet new people too.
[ Also, Nami looks less tired than the last time Katara saw her, so that's good. ]

You hungry? We sell food behind here too, though it's nothing fancy.
[She sees that soda and notes it.]
no subject
[ So, no bending on an overfull stomach. ] It seems like you've got a pretty good crowd here! Is it always this busy?
no subject
Practising... waterbending? [She assumes.]
no subject
[ She says this as though Nami already 1) Knows about it and 2) Would be interested in hearing about it, because it's hard to remember sometimes that she really is talking to a stranger, and not her friend. ]
no subject
[Look at this fresh interest. She didn't pick you as the sort to wield a weapon at all, given the whole waterbending thing.]
no subject
She smiles a little wryly.]
I learned where I was before. Sokka made me a collapsible staff, but it didn't come with me.
no subject
I'm sure you know already I fight with a staff.
[Leading comments 101.]
no subject
...oh, screw it. She gives a little, conspiratorial smirk.]
Who do you think taught me?
[That would be you. Because you're awesome.]
no subject
[Honestly her eyes light up.] I've never taught someone before-- or well, obviously I have, but-- [To her memory it's never been something anyone needed from her.] Ahh, I'm kind of annoyed that I can't remember. I bet we had fun.
no subject
We did. If you ever want to spar sometime, I'd love to be able to practice with you again. ...you know, once I get a bo.

[So. You know. Pretty darn.
A moment of hesitation, then:] we also worked on combining attacks with the water you could make with your climatec and my bending.

What did you have to do?

I had to win the second piece from some stupid anniversary party on the Marsiva months later. And I found the third piece as my "prize" from hunting through a temple on a water planet some months after that.
[She was fury incarnate for a while there. The amount of hours she had to put in to win enough tickets for that second piece was ridiculous.]

[Katara groans, one hand coming up to her forehead. Sokka, why?]

He must have been so impressed with what you can do with that technology. I bet he asked if he could have one.

[A quick smile.] And I'm glad you got it back and that it's working. I wonder why they bothered to keep it from you in the first place if they were only going to give it to you later?
