[he nods at her question] Oh, absolutely. These are pretty standard, but there's always one built to . . . y'know, last. [in a fight goes unsaid] The port should be universal, or they should make it so you can change it out. [...] —uh, the port is the part they attach to you, by the way. I would prefer to be more careful with this as well, at least until I completely understand how it works. [ Kinetic energy and electrics and wires - it all sounds a little daunting for someone who is more versed in runes and magic and glpyhs. It's something to learn, at least, and Leilani can appreciate that.

She reaches up, touching the stump of her arm carefully. ] Then I should be able to buy a set without issue. It will hurt, though?

Yeah, I get that. You'll see what I mean when it's on, though - don't have to be as careful as you think, even for the standard ones.

[he scratches at his cheek at her question, though, because - he actually doesn't know. He was getting a whole lot of other shit done when he got his arm and now he can't feel a thing, so] Uh - it shouldn't? They'll probably put you out to do it - I mean, put you to sleep. It might ache after? And - dunno if you've dealt with phantom pains yet, but that's not something you can do much about.

I will get used to it, I'm certain. After a fashion. [ When she's overcome the odd feeling of having an arm back without the power of the Anchor buried in the palm of it, at least. How long it takes her to get to that point is another matter.

Frowning, Leilani hesitates, glancing over at the arms again, trying not to let her emotions betray her. ] I'm used to the strangeness of the feeling. I'm sure it cannot hurt worse than it did being removed.

It won't be overnight, but I figure you'll get the hang of it fast. You seem the type. [and he's pretty sure it happens faster than it did for him, though he's never really asked]

It won't feel like that at all, pretty sure. [because nothing can compare to that kind of pain; doesn't matter how it was lost] If you're curious about the whole process, I'm sure the guy selling these can lay it all out. Y'know, for education's sake. [what he really means to ease her worrying, but he knows better than to point that out]

I do my best to learn swiftly. [ It's been part of the territory so far - initially when she became First of her clan and then when she adopted the role of Herald and Inquisitor.

Lifting her hand, she rubs her stump. ] I'll make sure to talk about it in depth before I make any decisions. I am not foolish.

See, I knew there was a reason I was starting to like you. [he teases about the "not foolish" remark, but there is some bit of relief in his voice. Folks back home jumped at the chance for new shit and didn't bother to ask for the details - so meeting someone who does is a new thing]

You said you were interested in the - upgrades too, right? Want me to show you where to find 'em?

[ Leilani is well aware of the dangers of new things - when you're a mage those dangers are a constant fear and an ever present worry. Spirits, demons, new specialisations, new knowledge... Something new never comes without a price or something that you must give in exchange.

The promise of upgrades, though... She's clearly interested. ] Yes. What sort of things should I expect?

They're not exactly standard, so they're . . . uh, in the other market. [his attempts at subtlety are never all that good] I saw a couple of strength upgrades when I looked, laser bullshit, shields - full arms, but I'm sure there's something else to them you won't find here.

That's fine. [ She went shopping at a place called the Black Emporium. Shadier markets aren't a new species to her. ] I'm curious about it all. I'm not sure when we'll come to a planet like this again.

All right. [he makes a gesture for her to follow, and just in case, takes note of where this particular shop is just in case they want to head back after] Good point, though - about not coming to another place like this again.

Only problem with buying shit there is that sometimes it's expensive or just - ridiculous. Like, why would you need a toaster in your piece? That's just a damn waste of money.

[ Practicality has always been a strong suit; something born of being part of a travelling clan, she thinks. ]

I'm not sure it has any long term uses other than being interesting to look at the first time. [ Frowning, Leilani pauses, thoughtful. ] I'm more interested in the knives and storage.

That's 'cause you've got common sense. This stuff is - more or less popular where I'm from, even for folks who don't need it. They'll put some weird shit into their bodies just 'cause it's the "trend" or whatever.

[he hums a little thoughtfully] Do you want a knife that's attached to the arm, or one that you can take out? [...] Could even do both, probably. That's pretty badass.

[ Leilani has seen enough abominations and Red Templars to be quite put off the idea of popular, exciting trends. Having a means of protecting herself beyond her staff and her magic, should she need it, is more than enough for her. ]

Both would be very good. [ And she appears to consider it. ] Maybe something where I can flex my wrist and a knife appears.

Ohh, secret knife. I like it. [you can tell that he's into this aspect of having a prosthetic, the mods and upgrades you can add to better suit. He sounds just a touch more excited about it]

—ah, one thing you'll definitely want on all the ones you buy, though - [he holds out his own hand to show her, sliding a panel in his palm above his thumb away to reveal a button] Emergency release, should work even if the thing has no power left. Just in case sort of deal, never know when you need to pop the thing off in the middle of chaos and doing it the regular way takes too long.

It might not be necessary, but it's better to make sure you're safe. [ Her eyes flick up to look at him and she smiles. At least there's someone who knows what they're doing.

She does lean in to take a proper look, though, tilting her head so she can see the panel and the mechanism. ] In case it's caught or you need to abandon it. That's very clever.

I hear ya. And you don't know when it comes to these places - on the flip side, also pretty cool for showing off. [there's always a bright side, and he returns her smile with a brief, faint one of his own.

He gives a nod, holding the panel open for as long as she wants to investigate before he lets it slide closed again] It's saved my ass a couple of times. You'd think something like that would be included, but not everyone has to think that way.

You'd think being the leader of an army would make showing off a little boring. [ But showing off to Dorian, to her friends, to her crew? That she can do, she thinks, and it makes her a little more comfortable imagining all the different arms she could have.

Shaking her head, she shrugs her shoulder - the good one, not the one missing an arm on the end. ] Not everyone is in a place where fighting is a concern.

She says, just casually dropping that she leads an army. [there's just a bit of teasing to his voice] Is that how you . . . ? [he makes a vague gesture to her lack of an arm]

Yeah, but even without danger these things can malfunction, short out - that's what I mean.

It was quite a casual affair, really. [ Which is understating it a little bit, if she's being honest, but it had all been quite fast and intense. ] It was part of the reason, yes.

[ Without the Inquisition she wouldn't have the Anchor, no Solas, no... Anything.

Breathing out, she shakes her head. ] I'll need to be careful, then.

Uh huh. Well, there's another thing we have in common - that's how I lost mine. [it's only fair that he shares his, given he asked about hers] I didn't get to lead an army, though.

But yeah, be careful. Otherwise - I don't know what else, I might be the only one who thinks a grappling hook is a good addition.
