[Vash has gotten pretty good at reading people; not that he would really need to be good at it to see that Haggar was not liking the way she was being crowded by the current couple asking her for a photo. So Vash does what any normal person would do and he walks up behind the pair to drape his arms around their necks in a friendly manner. With a big smile on his face, the long stripe of purple dyed into his hair, and his normal bright red jumper he fit right in with the other brightbirds.]

Hey guys! [Had he ever met these people before? He sure hadn't! But he'll chat like he's great friends with them.] There is a Starstriker guy over on Amherst Street asking about getting some more colour in his life. Do you think you could help him out? I don't know the best shops that are around here!

[There is no Starstriker on Amherst street. Or, well, there could be, but Vash hasn't actually been on that street yet today. He's just hoping naming off a street close by with some fun shops would be tempting enough for the people hassling Haggar to go check.]

[This entire situation was preposterous, and that was largely because it wasn't as easy to get away with her usual methods. Augment meddling, to be certain, because one wouldn't get quality content if it would be easy to get out of situations just like this one in the blink of an eye. With her teleportation being so unreliable, it led to...

Well, this.

Her eyes narrow when Vash appears, at first he does blend in quite well, especially with his change in hair, but...

The hasslers look at each other, debating this new information. On the one hand, they still wanted their photo, on the other, potential fresh meat. It's clear they're thinking very hard about this, almost start debating it right there, before they finally nod, all bright smiles.

"Don't go anywhere, we'll be right back!"]

Sure, sure! Of course we won't go anywhere! See you soon! [And as soon as they turn the corner Vash turns to walk in the opposite direction.]

Come on, there's a bat that was pretty quiet we could hide out in for a bit. It's too early in the day for most people except for drunkards. Those guys shouldn't give us too many problems.

[On the one hand: no.

On the other, until she could figure out why her teleportation ability wasn't working as it ought to have been, knowing there was a quick place to potentially duck into until another plan of action came to mind... perhaps wasn't a bad idea.

She wasn't particularly pleased by the consideration though. Shifting into a less conspicuous form? ... Not in front of Vash. And that hadn't been working consistently either.]

... Fine. Let's go.

[With a grin Vash moves towards the bar he was speaking about. It's not too far and he holds the door open for her when they arrive.] We can duck in here for a bit. It shouldn't take them that long to figure out I was lying and find us gone.

I'll even buy you a drink.

[Again, internally: no. Also: Why? She did not understand his continued curiosity in her.

But that had been an unexpected rescue, and, as she was loathe to remind herself in these circumstances, she needed allies. If this counted.

Her eyes narrow slightly as she takes in the establishment, not liking the thought of getting caught in another location, but it seems to pass the muster of not being too noisy or even remarkable at this time of day. There are people with colors but none that match theirs. She didn't trust it, but for the moment, it was... perhaps... safe enough as Vash had intended.

The sorts of things she'd braved for the sake of learning new things. She slips inside behind him, looking for a quiet, unoccupied area.

Quietly:]

Thoughtful of you.

[She doesn't have to look too hard. Vash has been to a bunch of bars and even across space many are still the same. He quickly sweeps his eyes across the room with it's few occupants. After that sweep he moves towards a booth towards the back and snags a beaten up menu off the counter as he goes.]

Eh, don't mention it. We should look out for each other among the fleet, right? [Vash slides into the booth and sets the menu down.] Let me know if you see anything you like. [He already knows what he wants.]

[It takes her a few moments to ease into sitting in the booth, distrustful of feeling so locked in.

When he slides the menu her way, she proceeds to blink dispassionately at the menu of alien food, studying it. Which was probably earth-like food. Which is still alien to her all things considered. Were these supposed to mean anything...]

[Vash doesn't pick up right away that Haggar is having any sort of problem. Instead assuming she was just trying to make a decision.] Maybe you should wear more muted colours and avoid popular Brightbird areas for the rest of our stay here.

[She's not having a problem with this menu. Not at all.

As for his suggestion, certainly he had a point. It had been a long time since she had visited a populated planet like this physically, she wasn't used to this--and having it pointed out by someone else wasn't something she appreciated. Still, even with her mild irritation, she keeps her tone... even.]

Perhaps. I did not expect that such areas would be so... dense.

[Densely populated by overly attentive people. Maybe because it was usually easier for her not to be noticed in a crowd, given her propensity to hunch herself, at her relatively short height especially around standard Galra. In a place like this, not so much.]

You seem like you're trying to draw attention.

Who me? [He answers in a voice as cheeky as his grin. One hand raising up to brush through the splash of purple he's added to his usually blonde hair.] Yeah, I wasn't expecting the people of this planet to be so excitable about well, everything either.

I guess I just got wrapped up in it all. It's great seeing everyone so excited and lively around here! [Especially after that last planet. He's allowing himself to get sucked in to how alive this one is.]

It's very loud, compared to the last one.

[But that's all it is. There's nothing...useful about it.]

Yeah! Isn't it great? [It is said with honest excitement and joy. He's really happy to hear all the voices mixes together.]

[No, and no. But she keeps that to herself yet again, eyes drifting back toward the menu.]

... There is little here that I am familiar with.

[Which she isn't happy admitting, but considering circumstances, certain acquiescence was necessary. She had reached that point, as much as she didn't like it.]

I'm looking for something... with fruit. Berries, perhaps.

[Preferably natural sweetness, not sugary. Though that wasn't something one would easily find on a bar menu. Vash had stated he was good with such things before, however... she hadn't forgotten that, so perhaps he will be useful.]

Er. Ah, haha, you might not have much luck with that in a place like this. [Vash leans over to give the bar menu a quick glance.]

Um, maybe we can ask for a bowlful of cherries that they put into drinks?

[She's being a little overly picky, but even that sounds odd to her. Granted everything about this very situation is odd to her.]

... Just... a small amount. Perhaps... I'll try this salad. [Almost easily missed, there at the bottom of the menu as a side.] It sounds like it is the only thing on this menu that's not fried or baked to the point of losing nutritional value.

Yeah, people mostly come to places like this in order to drink more than eat.

...I noticed that. The food seems styled in a way to make one want to drink more.

[She can recognize schemes like that well enough, even if she can't recognize most of the contents.]

Yeah, that's the idea. The saltier the better in places like this. But I can get you a salad and uh....... water?

[...That sounds rather bland and useless, but probably the best she was willing to try given... the circumstances.

So, eventually, reluctantly:]

[Vash leaves to have a chat with the bar tender. Quietly speaking to him and then the two of them chuckle at something that was said. Eventually the bartender goes out back and Vash returns to his seat.]

He's a little short staffed so he'll bring our order out soon.

[She just tries to slip herself more into the shadows when waiting for him to return. Waiting around like this has her even more distinctly uncomfortable, but her energy still doesn't feel quite right to pop off somewhere else, so she's trapped here for a little while yet.]

That is unfortunate.

[It's not like the place was very... busy.]

At least it's quiet right now. It will probably pick up a bit more tonight. Especially if there's a game on.

And with this place it seems like there is some sort of contest going on at any given time.

Oh! Maybe we could get you some sort of mask just while we're here that you could wear. That way maybe people wouldn't be pestering you so much. I'm sure some place around here would have some sort of mask or bandana you could buy.

... that seems like it would only continue to draw more attention.

[She knows he's "trying" to help. She had simply made a critical error in not even attempting to disguise herself immediately.]

I was seeking more information about this world, but their records seem... mostly about these games.

Maybe, but if you wear something they've all seen before instead of showing your skin which they haven't seen they wouldn't give you a second look. Or maybe it would completely backfire. Hard to say for sure. [He's so helpful!]

Yeah, they seem really seem to be into their sports here. I'm glad it all seems to be mostly friendly rivalry rather than something more serious.
