At least he doesn't interrupt for the rest of the haggling. Possibly his presence in the store just makes the merchant even more eager to get rid of them both. It seems to end agreeably enough - twenty-five percent was nothing to sneeze at, he supposes - and he follows Nami out.]

[It's entirely possible the shopkeeper found him intimidating. Nami has no qualms with this. She turns to lean against the counter as the poor beleaguered man starts packing her new clothing away in bags, grinning with no shame.]

Really? Thought I was going soft in my old age, myself.

[Nami you're like twenty three. Or twenty. Or... somewhere in there.]

Let me guess. Starstrikers?

He has the look of a man who's been soundly beaten, so I would not worry on that count.

[At that, the shopkeeper casts Thor a deeply scandalised look. Thor either doesn't notice or doesn't care that he's just insulted the guy to his face.]

Indeed. They have been a worthy team for me so far - and I cannot complain about the rates they pay for my work either.

Oh, no. I suppose that means we're rivals. [Breezily. She doesn't care. She's barely paid attention.] But never knock a source of good money. Make sure you keep some of it cash in hand as you go.

[She smiles charmingly at the shopkeeper and then glances back.] Were you here to buy something? I'm sure you can get a good discount.

You and many others! Sokka keeps glaring whenever I bring home a trophy from a bout.

[This doesn't stop Thor from putting the trophy in the kitchen regardless. If you get winnings, they should be displayed. That's just facts.]

I do try to. I am far more used to gold than these credits, but it is still better to see them than not at all. [Brightening, he turns to the shopkeeper.] I have been looking for a new belt.

[This poor guy.]

Ahhh, gold. It's been so long. I'd far prefer it over credits, to be honest. [...look she has a treasure fetish, it's just shinier and makes her feel more rich.

Meanwhile, the shopkeeper just looks from Nami to Thor and produces a weary smile from somewhere. If it's just one belt...]

Mind you, this shop does do great value if you want to pick up a few more not-so-essentials while you're here. She retrieves her bags from the counter and slings them over a shoulder.] I'm sure the vendor here wouldn't mind at all.

It does make sense to stock up, though after the last planet I am not doing so badly.

[Being able to just steal clothes from empty stores did wonders for his closet.]

Yeah, the last place was good for that. [Though she sobers a little. Nariba Relia's graveyard will do that to you.] I think I just like shopping in general. The fashions here are better than some of the stuff I've seen along the way.

[Thor moves through the clothes racks, going to scrutinise a row of belts hanging from the wall.]

At least there is variety. In style as well as size.

[Size is a perpetual problem for him. Plenty of places don't stock big enough.]

I wouldn't wish to be stuck with just the items the Fleet gives us.

Nope. Or the items on the Waystations, either. They're, uh... cheap and nasty. And creepy. [Never forget the time she found pants for an eight-legged person just...hanging out with the jeans.]

How long have you been on the Fleet, anyway?

Oh, I know. I have some things from there. ...I don't much use them anymore.

[He's moved on to much greener fields, though the tracksuit pants are okay. For training. Yanking a belt off the rack, he checks it around his waist.]

It would be around six months now, I think. [It's a measure he has to remind himself of, thanks to the memories of home he got not long into his stay.] What about you?

About ... huh. [She makes a face.] A few months shy of three years. Give or take a few "visits" back home, or whatever.

[...maybe she should pick up some more shirts while she's here. The shopkeeper probably won't mind.]

[It's reflexive to grimace at the length of time. Three years. Thor's fairly certain he'll try to burn the place down before he reaches that amount of time. Six months is already pushing his patience. Unwinding the belt, he nods at it absently. That will work.]

You've done that too, then. Regaining memories. I had that happen barely two months into my stay here.

That's pretty fast. [She glances at him curiously.] I think I'd been here six months or so-- then again a year later, and again just recently. I wonder why they do it.

[He merely grunts, irritated. He's well aware how out of the ordinary it was to get memories so early into his stay.]

You aren't the first to say so. And I don't know - out of spite, perhaps.

[There was little pleasant about Thor's memories, so it wasn't out of kindness to him, that's for sure.]

Can you tell if it follows a pattern?

Pattern of drama, maybe. I don't know a single person who woke up after one of those nights without some revelation from home.

On timing, though? Your guess is as good as mine.

I'd believe that more if there were some proof of us being watched.

[He has his doubts, if only because of the radio silence of the Atroma. Thor catches the shopkeeper's eye and gives him a winning smile, slapping the belt down on the counter.]

I get that. Though we're at least being watched by the Atroma. [Bah. She wrinkles her nose.] Could be they're our sole audience.

--oh, that's nice. Make sure to offer him a good discount! [Hey shopkeep, you can have an equally winning smile!

[Green or not, the shopkeeper starts ringing up the belt. Thor's not too worried about the costs but with Nami watching, well... it's getting a discount.]

If that's true, then I hope they see how serious I am when I say I'm coming for them eventually.

[He says it with a smile, but absolute conviction.]

[Kind of conviction she likes to see tbh.]

Well, you may have better luck than the rest of us mortals. Still, if I ever do get the chance to hurt them, I'm gonna take it.

As you should! They deserve every blow.

[The shopkeeper clears his throat behind Thor, holding out the bag with his new belt. Thor brightens and takes it from him, slapping his credits down on the till.]

Thank you, sir.

[Nami beams at the shopkeeper in a gleeful way that may threaten she might be back later, and follows suit.] Thank you, sir!

[She swipes all her prepared bags down from the counter deftly and slings them over one shoulder, the pipe she was fidgeting with shoved in a belt loop.] Did you have more shopping to do?

Not in particular. I've already done a lot earlier this week.

Ahh. Pity. Heading back to the Fleet, then?

[Thor shrugs, glancing around at all the other storefronts lining the street.]

I had not thought that far ahead, honestly. I have nothing else planned for today, so I was just looking around.
