[She's seen Morgan pouring over the many books their mother has on tactics. Lucina only wishes that she'd done even half the same as he did. But, then again, she's better with a sword when the need arises. And, well, being taught by Morgan is far more appealing than learning from, say, Inigo.]

All right, but what is going to make it so you've won? Besides the fact that you're as stubborn as a pegasus.

Well, remember what Mother always says about fate and how there are always different paths? Strategy games are kind of like that, too.

[Excuse him while he nerds out.]

When you're playing a strategy game, you have to think about how the moves you make will affect the outcomes. Eventually, if you play well enough, you'll get to the point where all of the outcomes left have you winning. That's what's called a win condition.

I understand that there are many branches from certain points.

[She's had to learn it the hard way. Nearly killing their mother, or at least attempting to, has left it's mark on her. And she's not going to mention it to him either.

But she listens as he goes over something he obviously enjoys, not that she blames him. It's rather cute to see him so excited.]

So, it's basically setting yourself up to win, no matter what choice your opponent makes. Did you read about it from one of Mother's books?

Yep, that's all there is to it! Mother's books had a lot that talked about this sort of thing. Of course, the books were talking about war strategies, but you can apply those to these kind of games, too.

Well, isn't this game just a way to work out war strategies? That's what a pamphlet talking about some of them said.

[She points to a few others, including one that is remarkable like Checkers.]

Those are as well.

I suppose I should have read more of Mother's books while I had the chance.

Yep! All these game focus on teaching different kinds of strategies. Of course, real war isn't as clean or orderly, but the base ideas are the same.

[He shouldn't grin at this, but he is. This is just all so cool!]

I miss her books here, but I'm really enjoying reading the strategy books we have access to. It's interesting to see how different planets approach tactics.

If only the conflicts we've been involved in ended so neatly...

So, you're determined to read every strategy book you can get your hands on then. It's a good thing Laurent isn't here. He would definitely give you a run for your gold coins.

I miss Laurent. Stuff like this is more fun when you have somebody to compete with.

[Morgan smiles as Lucina takes the seat across from him. That gives him an idea.]

I miss all of our friends. I'm sure that Owain and Cynthia would love everything about all of this.

[Now she has to distract them both from the unhappy thoughts.]

I don't see any reason not to read them. It might be more productive than perusing the devices for information about our current situation.
