I... agree. The lack of ogres—and Darkspawn in general—is welcome. Maybe I should just find a really big animal and we can all go out as a group to watch Riona murder things.

[There's a certain horned guy who might like that.]

One day.

[personal profile] samahl 2018-05-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh we need to do that. If only so I can watch how well you lot work with my lot. Er, I mean the Inquisition's lot.

[They aren't his. They don't know him. He doesn't want to dwell on it.]

Plus killing big animals is always fun. Maybe we can find a dragon?

reluctantbastard: (Maker why)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-05-26 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
We could all use a big adventure. It's been a while for me. And what better way to bond than the murder of some unsuspecting beast.

[He's only being partially serious.]

If we find a dragon, we should definitely take it out, but more about keeping people safe than for the violent aspect.
samahl: (Default)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-05-26 12:14 am (UTC)(link)

Of course, of course. But also because it's fun. [Cyril replies with a charming little grin. It makes it hard to tell if he's being serious or not.]

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-05-26 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, sure, it's fun if you get to stand several meters away and shoot at the fire-breathing lizard the size of a large village. I mean, I have to stand at her feet and hope she doesn't swat me with her tail that weighs three times as much as I do.

[Not that Alistair won't enjoy fighting the creature. He'd love the chance to stretch his muscles and help people.]
samahl: (amused)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-05-26 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good point. We can't have the current ruler of a nation squished by another woman's tail.
reluctantbastard: (serious 4)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-05-26 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I don't think I'm really worried about being squashed by a woman or even a High Dragon. I don't really leave Denerim unless I have to. And none of them fly that close?

[He frowns.]

Unless there's one that came up on the Storm Coast and I haven't heard about it yet.

[LITTLE DOES HE KNOW!]

[personal profile] samahl 2018-05-26 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
There was one on the Storm Coast when I was there. The first time I saw it, it was fighting a giant.
reluctantbastard: (alistairdonotwant2)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-06-05 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[Yeah, he's just going to file that away as mildly horrifying.]

Giants. In Ferelden. Well.... That's wonderful.
samahl: (Default)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-06-05 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)

Actually watching a dragon and a giant fight was pretty amazing.... [He offers a grin to Alistiar]

But I can see why the ruling monarch would consider that an issue.

reluctantbastard: (unknown (2))

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-06-24 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I bet it was. Dragons are a sight all themselves, but adding a giant into the mix would be... massive.

[He wants to grin, Cyril, really.]

It's a bit more than just an issue though. The Storm Coast is part of Amaranthine and Highever.

[Where his brother-in-law is in charge.]
samahl: (amused)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-06-24 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you could sell tickets to the fight and boost the local economy? [He suggests, though clearly he doesn't mean that seriously.]
reluctantbastard: (alistairhasabigsword2)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-06-24 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure that's not the sort of boost to the economy my brother-in-law would like to have. Especially what with the wildlife running around there.

[Don't you know about the damn bears, Cyril?]
samahl: (Default)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-06-24 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)

True.... There was also the darkspawn....

reluctantbastard: (alistairbitchy2)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-06-25 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, where there are escape tunnels from the Deep Roads there will be Darkspawn. That's not quite so surprising, if I'm honest.

[Especially not with what he knows about what happened in Amaranthine now.]
samahl: (experienced)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-06-25 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
We took care of them and blocked the passages we could find. Don't want those things getting any closer to civilization.
reluctantbastard: (alistairAREYOUEFFINSERIOUS2)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-07-02 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's, uh, good of you. I thought the Inquisition all had some bad impression of me, in the future that is. I mean, that Dorian guy certainly made it seem like he thought I was the worst thing since the Blight.

[ :| ]
samahl: (experienced)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-07-02 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I have a rather good impression of you, actually.

You had reason to mistrust the mages and we were able to give them a place to stay after they were asked to leave Recliffe.

Then you reached out to me directly to ask assistance to weed out the Venatori amoung the nobles in Denerim.

Actually, you, um, the letter you sent me was rather adorable. Very endearing.
reluctantbastard: (alistairbitchy2)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-07-02 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's me, endearing to a fault. [He sighs.] Unless you threaten my family, country or, well, innocents. Then...

Well, best we not go there. No reason at the present.
samahl: (Default)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-07-02 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I can understand that. The desire to protect those you love is understandable.
reluctantbastard: (blushing 4)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-07-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't have to love everyone to want to keep them safe. [He shakes his head with a wry smile.] Though, I suppose as the reigning monarch, I'm supposed to love all Fereldans, whether I want to or not, right?
samahl: (Default)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-07-02 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
At least if you want to be a good monarch. I can think of a few who cared little for their people.
reluctantbastard: (alistairisnotlikingthis2)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-07-02 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
I can think of a few as well. And it's not just the kings and emperors that people need to worry about. Teyrns and Arls are just as likely to abuse those of the lower classes as anyone else. I don't want that to remain the status quo of Ferelden.
samahl: (smiles to the side)

[personal profile] samahl 2018-07-03 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Cyril considers him, and then smiles a bit, touched by that idea.]

I feel suddenly sad for those who are from versions of Thedas that don't have you as a king.
reluctantbastard: (Default)

[personal profile] reluctantbastard 2018-07-04 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's got a lot on his plate back home, sure, but he has a lot of dedicated help too. And a desire to make sure that his country succeeds.]

I'm not sure. Anora was a good queen. I'm sure that she'll do a fine job as well, without her father meddling. She's a better politician that I'll be at least.

[One thing he and his half-brother had in common: a distinct lack of interesting in dealing with the politics side of ruling.]
