A useful skill for a tactician is understanding the efficiency of the soldiers you're working with. If you can't find a suitable weapon that he's used to, perhaps try one that he'd find interesting to learn.

That's not actually the problem with my brother. Everything interests him. He loves to learn. I suppose the problem is finding a good starting point where there are a lot of choices in front of us that we wouldn't have back home.

Our uncle taught him well in trying to keep our allies in fighting shape. Only they both have their own idea on how to do that.

Working with multiple trainers is beneficial to one's progress, anyway. There's no single way that can make everyone grow stronger, from my experience.

Well, I agree that that's true, but I'm not sure how pitfalls and doing sprints until you can't move are really helpful to anything by trying to kill us.

Mmhmm, spell books that allow you to use powerful magicks in battle. Fire, wind, lightning and dark magic are fairly common to find or purchase for use.

We don't, at least not on the worlds we've discovered. Magic doesn't exist.

[Sounds like a fantasy story. Every universe is different, of course, so to her it must be very real, but.]

Magic comes in many forms, Messer. There are others in the Fleet that come from worlds where it takes a more physical form like mine.

But there are others where it is more...based in a blend of science and the spiritual.

Hm. I've heard it said that magic is merely misunderstood science, so that lines up well enough.

[He shrugs. It's not like he's going to tell her she's wrong, it's just hard to imagine without seeing it directly. He's a literal guy.]

I'm not the person to really go into that. Perhaps if Miriel or her son were here, they could debate the finer details.

Although, I suppose it works for a parallel.

Well, I believe he has a Thoron tome, but I could be mistaken. All that means is that he can call down lightning. With no storms in the vicinity. It's not as impressive as the Enwind or Bolognase, but strike a man in full plate with lightning and he's not getting up for a while.
