[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

She always went on about how the cups were for the people at the dinner table, not the frogs. More work for her, I suppose.

[He wonders what his mother is up to now.]

[princessia]

[ She sits down, still watching the water. This conversation is beginning to make her wonder how her own parents were like. Would her mother react the same way too? ]

...What about your father?

[serves]

[Cullen crouches, not wanting to talk down to her any more than he must with how tiny she is.]

Oh, he agreed. My father never disagreed with my mother when it came to matters of the house. He knew better.

[princessia]

[ Parents and siblings. It sounded lively. For Elize, she only had Teepo for the longest time. And Jiao only made seldom visits... ]

Do you miss your family, Cullen?

[serves]

[More than he'd ever admit. But to see them again, or to even write a letter containing more information than how Skyhold and the Inquisition is doing, would open him up too much. There's a lot he's not ready to talk about with them.]

I do. As I'm sure you do, hmm?

[princessia]

I...

[ Elize trails off, going into an unusual lengthy silence. She does miss her parents, even if she knows nothing about them. She wants to meet them. There are only hazy reminders of them. Never anything clear. Thinking about how she can't recall anything always made her upset.

Where are they?

She tears up, beginning to lightly sob. ]

I don't... know where they are.

[serves]

[It takes him a moment too long to realize what exactly has happened. And then it's a moment of trying to figure out the best course of action--this poor girl and his fool mouth. Cullen carefully reaches out a hand to rest on her shoulder.]

Elize--I'm sorry. [He doesn't want to shh at her or scare her by wrapping her in his arms as some instinct yells at him to do, so for now he just frowns, worried and feeling like an idiot, trying to rub soothing circles against her back.

Please, please stop crying.]

[princessia]

[ Be glad she doesn't cry very loud. Elize is trying to stop herself, rubbing the back of her hands on her eyes. Trying to stifle her tears, but she can't help it. She doesn't mean to suddenly start crying in front of him. Even she feels bad, aware that she must have made him feel terrible too.

She lets him rub her back, yet she continues to sob softly. Sorry, Cullen. She's going to keep crying a little longer. ]

[Maker take him now. Except no, he wouldn't want to leave a little girl crying. Cullen can tell she's trying to stop, and so he decides to shove his reservations aside and wrap her in a proper hug.]

It's all right. Let it out.

[princessia]

[ One of the things she hates the most is loneliness. Really, she's glad he's still here with her. Don't go away, okay. Because almost immediately, she's leaning into the hug and trying to relax. ]

I... liked hearing about your family. [ It takes her some time, but she finally manages to form words as she calms down. Less sniffling now. ]

I've always wondered how it's like to have one.

[Delicately, he pets her hair, trying to soothe her. She feels so fragile in his arms it almost scares him.]

I'm sorry yours is absent, Elize. You're a strong girl.

[princessia]

[ Did her parents hold her like this before? She's not sure. It's almost familiar. She wish she knew for certain. It's calming... her gasping and weeping gradually becoming less severe.

She looks up at him, blinking a few more tears out of her eyes. ]

I am...?

[serves]

[He'll even gently dab away the smeared tears on her face with his sleeve, summoning up a small smile for her.]

Very. I can see it in the way you handle yourself.

[Tears, yes, but she can get a hold of herself.]

[princessia]

[ Encouragement always nudges her back into better spirits. She's looking more bashful than distressed now. Still, much better than her sad, pained look from earlier. ]

I'm... trying.

[serves]

You're doing a wonderful job. The most anyone can ask is that you try.

[princessia]

[ She nods quietly, relaxing in his arms a little longer. Then slowly, she pulls away. ]

I think... I'm feeling better now.

[serves]

[He nods in return.]

You remember what I said when we first spoke, hmm?

[If she needs anything, he'll do what he can. Especially so now.]

[princessia]

I remember. [ She also remembers that he told her to be strong back then too.

She puts on a small smile. ] Thank you.
