[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

[When she hears O'danya's voice, she straightens up. She still sounds distracted when she answers.]

Oh, O'danya. Of course. Come in.

It's... good to see you again.

[ O'danya has an idea of what is bothering Beverly. She imagines it would be the same if she were to recreate the Rising Stones, Waking Sands or even the Carline Canopy. There's only so much life that can be put into something that does not breathe. ]

The same to you. [ She looks around more, almost pointedly to let Beverly know she's taking it in. ] Does this creation belong to you? It's very... warm compared to what I know of constructions such as these.

It's a recreation of the Enterprise, the starship I live and work on at home.

[paeon]

[ Her ears perk up, lifting from their backward angle while she has a bit of surprise. ]

Enterprise? Why, that's the name of Cid's ship! [ That gets a pleased, beaming smile. ] I suppose there are similarities in our worlds even through such large differences.

[dancingmd]

[Beverly, too, perks up at this news. It's comforting to know the Enterprise is out there, in all sorts of different universes.]

Really? You have an Enterprise as well? What's it like? Is Cid the captain?

[paeon]

If you would like, I have the feeling that this place might be able to show you.

[ It's with a fond smile that she says it. ] Cid nan Garlond is not only the captain, but its creator. He's a rather amazing man.

[dancingmd]

Oh, I would love to see it, and hear more about your captain, if you wouldn't mind! Have you programmed one of these before?

[paeon]

Oh, Cid is not my captain, but my friend. His genius in engineering is beyond any other man in Eorzea; we are lucky to have him on our side.

[ She shakes her head and considers the room. ]

No, nothing so specific as this. Would I not simply tell it what to transform into?

[dancingmd]

The computer has a few generic pre-sets, but you'll have to get pretty specific if you want Cid's Enterprise. It's not too difficult, though. I helped Ino program her village earlier and it didn't take much time at all, once she got the hang of it.

[paeon]

[ While it sounds like a lot of work to rebuild something with which she doesn't understand the whole workings of, O'danya isn't one to back down. She'll do it because she wants to and nothing else will get in the way. ]

If you would, then, I would take your tutelage to show you the Enterprise of my own world.

[dancingmd]

I'd be more than happy to. Let's see... is your Enterprise a starship as well, or is it a seaship?

It is neither. The Enterprise is an airship of special design, different from what one might see from Highwind Skyways design or that of the Ixal.

[dancingmd]

[She has no clue what the Highwind Skyways are or the Ixal, but there's a simple solution.]

Hmm... maybe a small example might be the best way to start. Computer: give me a model of an airship, about sixty centimeters long.

[A small airship shimmers into view on the floor, though it's not exactly what O'danya would be expecting. This airship looks more like a 20th century Earth dirigible.]

Is it something similar to this?

[ Whoa. She considers that for a long moment, then slowly shakes her head. ]

That... in truth, it reminds me of the Agrius. However, that was a war ship and much different in design from the usual fare meant merely for passengers. Although the balloon itself is similar to the ones used in Eorzean airships.

[dancingmd]

[She nods thoughtfully, looking down at the model ship.]

Even if it isn't exactly like your Enterprise, do you think you could still use it as a base? Simply describe what changes you need to the exterior to the computer. Then we can make it life sized and work on the interior.

[ It takes a bit of work, but eventually O'danya narrows the parameters down to an almost exact-replica of Cid's Enterprise. Perhaps not incredibly impressive on its own without context, but for anyone who has seen her realm's airships, it definitely remains a modern marvel. ]

There we are. That was easier than I had expected it to be.

[dancingmd]

[Don't worry, Beverly is suitably impressed, clapping her hands together as she exclaims.]

How wonderful! We never had any airships like this on Earth! Though, it looks kind of like the ancient ships we used to sail on the ocean in.

[paeon]

Of course they would. [ She seems amused, but the excitement catches and she isn't very put out at all. ] They are both a manner of ship, are they not?

[dancingmd]

True. I suppose I'm just surprised since that's not how things progressed in my world. Even our early aircraft looked nothing like ships you'd find on the ocean.

[Fortunately, the VRD already has a couple of Earth-style airplanes in its banks, so Beverly brings up small models of them to demonstrate.]

[ O'danya considers them for a moment... then it clicks. ]

Like cloudkin! And those are strong enough to carry passengers?

[dancingmd]

Mm hmm, though, [she eyes the model that resembles on of the Wright Brothers' early creations] maybe not that particular one. Too lightweight and only good for short distances.

Now, of course, we mostly use transporters for long distance travel on a planet.

[paeon]

[ O'danya considers the early plane and has to admit it does look rather flimsy. Ah well. Nothing has ever been made perfect on the first attempt. ]

Transporters?

Remember when you were first moved from the Marsiva to your current ship? They were using transporter technology there.

[paeon]

Oh! An aetherical transference!

[ If Beverly hasn't guessed, there's a lot of this "aether" where O'danya's from. ]

Yes, we use such in my realm as well.

Fascinating, how our worlds have so many parallels to one another! Tell me, do your people travel to other planets as well?
