[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

That's never going to stop sounding sound like one of my family is about to bounce out of the woodwork. Probably Carver, I'm sure he's thought of something new to be surly about by now.

It's...actually about the twins. You see, other details are different, from what I understand in these alternate versions of our world.

[Ok, deep breath, here we go.] I never met Carver. He died when you were trying to escape the Blight. Bethany is the one who came with you to Kirkwall.

[ The revelation that in other times, or worlds, or whatever 'Hawke' is apparently the moniker of a woman, suddenly seems...so much smaller, leaving him for a moment long enough to feel perceptible once it's past, unable to conjure even the wettest of dry wit. ]

Bethany is. I--of all the things I thought you might be about to say, that would have been low on the list.

[ There, pithy comment mustered, though it lacks any kind of punch. They're just words. ]

[There's an awkward shrug here, Fenris isn't exactly the best at knowing most people. ]

She is a good young woman.

[ 'Is' sounds nice, just--he's had ten years to get over it. ]

Maker knows how she's a Hawke. You should have met Carver.

[ Flippancy. He sobers enough for ...well, for sobriety. ]

[Fenris frowns softly, feeling a touch guilty about bringing it up at all. He knows how much it took Hawke to heal over Carver's death, it stands to reason the same would be true for Bethany. He is aware he's opening up an old wound, and needs to be careful about it. ]
