[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

... Wow! What sort of moves do you do with it?

[Beverly takes a few steps safely away from Ino and demonstrates a few of the simpler positions. Her movements are not as powerful as a Klingon's would be, but they have a certain amount of grace to them not normally associated with the bat'leth, which, of course, stems from her training as a dancer. When she finishes, she gives a little, solemn bow.]

That's really cool! I'm sure a lot of people would love to learn it.

[She nods eagerly] I hope so!! Even though the bat'leth seems like such a clunky weapon at first, it's really amazing what you can do with it. Honestly, I use it more as a meditative and exercise tool than as a weapon. I have had little reason to use it in battle, and I prefer the use of a phaser anyway for dangerous situations.

A phaser? What's that?

Phasers are a little bit like the laser pistols we have here, except they fire a continuous pulse rather than short bursts. They are the preferred weapon in Starfleet because they have a variety of settings and uses beyond defense, such as creating heat or cutting through metal. More importantly, they are more humane than traditional weapons as they can be used simply to stun an opponent, with no lasting physical effects.
