[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

[ As if this kind of thing happens to him often, which ...in fairness, it does. His canon is about as self-reflexively genre savvy as it gets. ]

Right, then. Care for company on your social call?

[ Plenty of times he'd pass up this sort of thing up, but he's not doing anything else with his time, and a person only lives like Hawke does for so long before it's just ...life. He may make jokes about gardening and naps, but he gets restless, and quickly. ]

[right, so, that flirting thing that he does... he might wink before he starts walking backwards--presumably in the direction of wherever this is.]

I don't think I'll be witness to two sudden mutinies in one day, but a little extra personality certainly wouldn't hurt.

[ How much is that, exactly. Meanwhile flirting is approximately a third of all Hawke's overall communication, so if Robin might wink it's possible Hawke's lashes might wing down, as if to say: ah, this is both familiar and fantastic.

So basically: lead the way. Hawke might occasionally point out an obstacle for Robin not to crash into. He's helpful that way! ]

[he will lead, happily. and take any and all advice on what not to crash into. he doesn't seem like he has to look over his shoulder all that much--but he likes that someone around here is paying attention.]

Hawke. It's a family name - [ he has literally never had to explain this before coming to the fleet, but people keep wanting to call him Garret otherwise ] - not just an abiding interest in birds. Though I can't much help liking them! Got a pair on the family crest and everything.

[ A beat, which he uses to gesture helpfully toward an unwieldy street sign. ]

Actually those ...might be eagles. Hard to say. They've got big, stabby beaks, I can tell you that much. What's yours? If we're performing the introductory tapdance.

[he listens. he smiles. the smile turns into a grin, which spreads further the more he explains--and it reaches his eyes, really seems to come from the heart. this is a subject which delights him, and he bows through a step, hands clasped behind his back.]

How fortuitous! My name is Robin. Very much like the bird, though not a family name.

[he laughs, possibly entirely to himself.] Well, my whole family had bird names, so perhaps it is technically a family name as well.

[ Hawke is 100% given to like people who give everyday movement dramatic flare (otherwise what's the point?) so Robin's stock is sort of skyrocketing. He huffs a dry little laugh at this explanation, eyebrows friendly. ]

Well, why stop once you hit on a working theme.

[ It's not an insult, Hawke's sword-wielding brother is like, literally named Carver. ]

That's what I like to say. I'm tickled. [he's got quite a flair for the dramatic--at least when it comes to birds, anyway. he clutches his face with a hand, charmed.] Your family has inadvertently saved me the bother of having to nickname you.

So then, Hawk-- [it's hard to tell the very subtle difference in pronunciation, but.] --What do you do around here when you're not getting dragged into other people's problems?
