[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

Hey, so long as there's still something left to try, there's always a little bit of hope. Little goes a surprisingly long way, for that matter.

Something like this happened where I grew up, too. Just... [He makes a sweeping gesture with one hand.] Wiped everything out, all in an instant. Seems there's still a bit of hope left in the people who survived it, though. They've been restoring it for the past year or so. I dunno if it'll ever be like it was, but... maybe it's enough for it to be like it is. So long as it still, you know... is.

[Radiant Garden still exists, and its people still exist, and in the end, shouldn't that be enough?]

[ He grimaces at that. His own time, his world... there's a tentative peace under Wyatt's rule, but no hope. Everyone who can fight does fight, but for lack of any other options. What else are you supposed to do when the world is crumbling all around you? ]

I hear what you're saying. This is a little different... but I get you. Just means don't give up, right?

The only way you lose for sure is to give up. [He looks very serious about this.] Other than that? There's... there's always a chance.

[And he has to believe it. He's got to hold onto that chance that there might be a way to get Roxas back, that there might be a way to stop Xehanort. Maybe it's not apparent, and maybe it's gonna take a lot of work to find, but he's got to believe that chance exists. Otherwise, there's nothing to fight for.]

[ That sort of speech gets Axel a light grin. ]

Yeah, I agree. Anyway... How'd your ship do? Everyone all right?

[He smiles a bit when Chris grins. He knows he's kind of a cheeser, but his corny speeches are usually good for cheering people up a bit, and he's never sorry for that.

[He nods at the question.]

Yeah, we made it out all right. Nobody got hurt, really, besides a few bumps and bruises. The paint job is probably shot, and our gravity generator took a good hit and left us floating for a while, but it could have been a lot worse. I'm convinced my pilot's a bit insane, but in the end that worked in our favor.

How about you, everybody okay?

[ It reminds him of his uncle. Cheesy whitelighters are good for always having hope, anyway. ]

Yeah, just the usual. We could have done a lot worse, that's for sure. Haven't heard about everyone chiming in, but it's weird. I think everyone actually turned out okay. Did we scare them off, or were they just trying to scare us?

I'm glad everybody seemed to make it out all right--I was kinda worried for a bit there. [He rubs his chin, then shakes his head.] But yeah, I dunno. It's really strange they just up and ran off like they did. I mean, they were winning, hands down, so... what happened? [He gives an exaggerated shudder. What would have happened if they hadn't backed off?] I don't wanna think about it.

Oh, I'm glad too. Just... [ He gestures. Axel hit all the points. ]

Unfortunately, I doubt that's the last we'll hear about it. Wonder if there isn't anything we can do to beef the ships up instead of just fixing them.

It might be worth it to talk to some of the engineers about that, honestly. [He looks contemplative.] I think if anybody could figure out a way to fortify the ships, Hiro could, he's the Bishop's engineer.

Hiro? Yeah, I've met him. Carted him around for a while so he could get his work done faster.

I'll give him a call, see if he can come up with anything.

It's not a bad idea. Maybe we can get the engineers to put their heads together and come up with something. Seems like it's worth a try.

How many engineers do we even have here, anyway? I know we're getting the ships repaired fast enough, but I really have no idea what kind of statistics we're dealing with here.

I don't actually know, off the top of my head. [He counts off on his fingers.] I know there's Hiro on the Bishop. There's Sokka, on Blue Fish, he made a cool extra fridge unit for my ship. And then there's Robin, on the Bloodsport. [He holds up three fingers.] Those're the only three I know, but a team of three's still better than one or none.

I've... kind of talked with two of the three before. That's way less than I thought, but I guess it's worth looking into anyway. If you know this Sokka guy, maybe you suggest it to him and I'll talk to Hiro.

[ But what about Robin? WHO CARES ABOUT ROBIN. ]
