[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

[Beverly will take that excited look on Jinx's face as a yes. Dispensing with the formality of taking the Enterprise, she has the computer take them to one of Jupiter's moons, Io. The landscape here too is mostly barren, with the exception of the small observation station to the west, but it's definitely not boring. They're standing at the intersection of two lava flows and in the distance, one of Io's famous volcanic plumes takes up most of the horizon.]

[This makes her feels small, but not he same way standing in space had. It was glorious and violent. It was beautiful, and she was entranced.

Jinx was no one for poetics, but it almost reminded her of something she had heard once from the Boss man during one of his more verbose angers. "Rage, rage against..." something something something.

Whatever. This was cool.]

[Seeing the look on Jinx's face... there's something there that concerns Beverly, though she can't say exactly what or why. The girl is certainly a little... well, strange, even by Beverly's standards.

Beverly shakes her head slightly and decides to continue her role as tour guide of the solar system.]

This is a popular tourist spot, in my universe, though obviously in real life, [she gestures down to her uniform, which would do nothing to help her survive on the real Io's surface] you have to be dressed a little more protectively.

[That gains a curious look from Jinx. She hadn't thought of that. Dressed differently. She looks down at herself, and her hands, and might seem to flicker slightly as she actives her ability a couple of times, phasing through nothing.

Could she touch lava? Would phasing through lava be like phasing through fire? Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it singed her insides. And often it left her damaged and weak. And tired.

She'd been getting a lot more tired here now, actually. Now that she thought of it... strange.]

[Beverly definitely notices the flickering.]

Are you feeling okay? Maybe we should go back...

[Feeling okay? She feels fine. What an odd question to ask. She shoots the emo lady a confused look, and then shrugs.

All right. They can go back. She's just going to take one last, longing look at the volcano and its violent ecstasy before they go.

[Sorry, Jinx, she's a doctor and a mom. She can't help it.

Seeing Jinx's confused look, Beverly offers an explanation.]

You were flickering.

[Of course she was, how else did one check their powers. This lady sure is strange.

Another shrug by way of answer, and she trudges over to the emo lady. All right then, lets go. All aboard the what-have-you!]

So... I take it the flickering is normal then.

[She says this without really expecting an answer. That trudge though... giving in a little, she orders the computer to take them in closer to the volcano, which is massive, far larger than any on Earth.]

Seems a shame to come here and not get a little closer look, hmm?

[Jinx's bright smile outshines the lava at their feet. this was totally the perfect opportunity to get closer you're the best, emo lady!

Nice. Her trudge turns into a hop, skip, and step over flowing lava.

This is totally her new favorite place ever.]

[Beverly simply watches Jinx dance around the lava flows, trying to make some sense of this young woman. It's not that she necessarily dislikes her or anything. Jinx's curiosity and willingness to explore is something Beverly can identify with. However, the silence and the seeming attraction to danger...

She shakes her head slightly, to clear her thoughts. They only just met, she shouldn't be making any judgments.

The volcano rumbles ominously and the ground at their feet starts shaking.]

Hmm...

[Done hopping, Jinx trundles her way back to the doc's side. Sup lady. Thanks for this. This is crazy cool.

Especially the danger inherent in standing on an active volcano. they were totally about the be sprayed with lava. And Jinx totally isn't concerned about you or anything, but she is placing her hand on the lady's arm as the rumbles get stronger and the lava flows more quickly.

She probably doesn't even feel much of a change when Jinx makes them a little bit less-than-solid.]

[Beverly pats Jinx's hand absentmindedly as she stares at the volcano. If this was the real Io and a real volcano, she would of course be very much concerned, but considering they just flew through open space at warp speed, safety isn't much of an issue.

So when the lava shoots up and conveniently dissipates when it hits them, she merely assumes it's part of the program.]

[Yes, this lady was nice. Jinx thought she'd like to keep her around a little. One never know when fake would decide to be real.

Her eyes stay focused on the volcano even as she keeps them just-quite-not physical. Lava was so cool...]

[Beverly decides to let Jinx sit through the rest of the eruption. From what she's gathered, the VRD is more unusual here, no holodecks on every ship and station like at home. So it's unlikely Jinx will get another chance like this and she does seem to be enjoying herself, so why not?

Besides, Beverly has to admit, it is pretty amazing, even if it's not real.

Eventually, the volcano settles down and Beverly turns to Jinx.]

Alright, this time I really do need to head back to my ship. But this program is in the computer's data banks still, if you wanted to come back on your own.

[Jinx beams at the lady.

That was real nice of her, setting that up and everything. Jinx isn't one to say thank you to much, but she does take out one of her few remaining lollipops and offers it.

You know. In gratitude and whatnot.]

[Beverly's eyebrows go up in surprise at the offer.]

Oh! Well, thank you Jinx!

[She beams back at Jinx. She has no idea when the last time she had a lollipop was, nevertheless, she graciously takes it and promptly unwraps it and sticks it in her mouth.]
