festival day!
Who: EVERYONE
Broadcast: Up to you
Action: Everywhere in the Yadrolla system!
When: 5/30
[At last, the day has come: Festival Day! Once again, the Starstrikers have taken the trophy this year. But that doesn't mean members of other teams, or those who didn't play, can't celebrate with the rest of them!
There are parties everywhere. Ribbons, streamers, and confetti litter every major street in the system. (Remember what they say about glitter...) There is food on every block, and people cramming into shops to get in on the merch.
Don't forget about the reason for the festival-- the pet adoption drive! A large playground-type area has been set up on the Starstrikers' desert moon where people can play and interact with the lovable creatures needing new homes. Whether you're looking for companionship or just something to do, there's plenty to coo over! Every pet comes with an info card listing a fanciful name and a general description of their age and temperament. Maybe Sir Pringle the puppy or Marquess Mariana the fish can become your new best friend.
Sadly, the Fleet will be drifting in about a week... but feel free to party until then!]

Yeah. It's been a hectic month, and there's only so much party I can take.
no subject
I don't drink. But I like your bar.
[He gave a sympathetic nod, his chin coming to rest in his palm.]
Wanna talk about it or forget it?
no subject
There's not much to talk about. It's just been... [Pause.] I've got friends missing and friends gone home. And I keep having to update my roster. I need a vacation.
How about you? Avoiding the crowds?
no subject
I understand, I'm sorry, there were similar issues had back home. And...similarly, things back home have soured me on large parties, I prefer smaller groups of company.
[His head tilts in consideration.]
But, those who are still on your 'roster,' couldn't they handle things for a little while so you could take a break?
no subject
[You're like the first one in an hour.]
Sorry! This is what happens when you tag on your tablet and computer
That's nice of you, some leaders don't do things like that. But I meant past tonight. Like an actual, potentially-more-than-one-week vacation. I'm sure there's got to be planets that aren't abandoned or rowdy sports events.
All good!
...hm. If I really like the look of a place when we get there, I spend more time down planetside. I'm especially fond of good beaches and lakes. We've had some wonderful holiday spots along the way. [Or what would class as a wonderful holiday spot were any of them here by choice.]
If it helps, though, I also like making money. So it's a win win for me.

Fair enough. Money is certainly nice to have and if it's something you enjoy-well. [He shrugs. Can't fault her for enjoying working when he basically lived for it.]
I've never been to a beach. I hear they're something. Have there been bad beaches? [HE has no way to measure that.]
no subject
Mmm, well, I like them all, but some are a lot harder to enjoy. Some are too rocky to navigate easily, and some are far too cold to enjoy in the proper fashion. And in some places, the water's polluted, which is no fun for anyone.
Do you live far inland, then? Back home.

When I was growing up, yes. There were a couple lakes and even a handful of rivers, but that was it. Even once I started living somewhere else, I couldn’t go out during the day.
[He thought back to when he’d talked to Sam about it and the swath of impossibly black something he could see in the distance from the top of that huge hill. It was immense and no land he’d ever seen looked like that at night.]
We might have been nearby it, but I couldn’t tell you for sure. Besides, more than likely it would have been a ‘bad’ one. Everything there was polluted.
no subject
Did you have a night shift job...?
[She doubts it, somehow. But it's the most innocent way she can think of to express her curiosity.]
no subject
Ah...no. Felt like it, sometimes. The area I was in had been bombed seventy years before, no one was supposed to still be living there. At least, not obviously; we were underground to hide from surveillance.
[He says it easily, like tyrannical governments and hiding from them is just a normal Tuesday fact. It's not, he knows, but it was hard not to be casual about what had been his life for nearly the last decade.]
So, if I wanted any fresh air, my only chance to get out was at night when the surveillance wouldn't be able to pick out one person moving around.
no subject
...that's a long time for an area to be under surveillance. Someone was frightened of you, huh?
