Hi, so, I'm going to need you to go ahead and let me out of here and return me to my ship. I mean, we could do this the long way, but you really, really won't like that. It will be long. And painful. Possibly over days. The thing I'm going to assume you didn't realize about me before you decided to make this incredibly idiotic move is that I don't take kindly to cages. They're not really my thing, and I have a particular prejudice against the people who want to put me in them.

But hey.

[ She puts her hands up in a conciliatory manner ]

Maybe I'm reading this entire situation the wrong way. Just come and get me, we'll talk, and I won't even break your fingers for it. Promise.

Okay? Okay. Chop chop!

[ She rolls her eyes, sighs, and switches off the camera ]

Well, I guess it was going to come up sooner or later. I'll figure it out.

Dating someone back home?

It's pretty much the definition of complicated. Technically I think we were still broken up, but I saved reality so that has to get me some points, right? Oh, and she's a clone.

Hmm, well if she treats you right it doesn't matter much that she's a clone, right? Unless there's weirdness with the person she was cloned from?

Oh, I definitely don't care about the clone thing. She's one of a kind to me, but it's just one of those complicating factors.

Do you get a lot of simple in the time traveling, world-saving business?

Some choices are really easy. Like, Caesar always belongs in his original timeline.

Has he been trying to leave it?

More often than we'd like.

Tricky guy. Doesn't seem like he'd have the means.

There might have been some external forces at play.

I would hope so or the history books got it seriously wrong.

I mean, they probably did anyway. And anything we changed probably wasn't in your timeline.

So, the things you change, is that just changing your world or are you creating alternate realities each time?

I really try not to think about it too hard, honestly. We remember things differently but no one else seems to.

Feels like a topic that could use some thought. [Thinking of her own world and how it came to be and how they tried to fix it but didn't.]

We already have the different Earth issues. Maybe we make a new Earth every time we do something, or maybe reality is just changed.

Those are definitely two of the options. Be careful with it. I know what time damage can lead to. [Her life.]

So do I. I've been at this for awhile.

[She nods.] Of course. I don't know as much about time travel as you would.

It's just my timeline was created by a time traveler. Or broken by one.

And it all went to hell?

[A nod.] There was a guy whose memories didn't change. He remembered the way things were supposed to go. I guess he was some kind of time traveler too. Apparently things were better. A lot better.

That or things were just so bad we were desperate enough to believe anything with a shred of hope attached.

I'd go with the explanation that helps the most, but spending your time thinking about how things should have been or whatever is a fast way to make yourself crazy.

We were...more proactive than just thinking about it. [They were doing a dumb, dumb thing. But when all your options are bad...]
