( Jean isn't a stranger to space. She isn't a stranger to time travel. She is a stranger to this particular space ship, though, and she's not really sure why she's here or how she got here. It's a pain in the ass, really, considering she just got back from space not even two weeks ago and here she is again, trapped in the limbo of endless black and stars close enough to touch. She'd started on a ship with limited capacity and basically no people and at least she's actually on a ship with people now. It's an improvement - somewhat.

Great. Just peachy.

Maybe this time they can skip the Invasion of the Symbiotes and she'll get to keep control of her own body and mind. It'd be nice, for once, not to have to worry about some alien entity invading her body for the fun of it. )

So, uh, question? What sector of space are we in, exactly? Because I just got back from a stint on Klyntar and let me tell you, it wasn't great. I don't want to go back. So if we're anywhere remotely close by (read: within one million lightyears), I'd like to go ahead and nope out now.

( Maybe this isn't the best way to introduce herself to an entire space fleet but, hey, Jean has never been one to beat around the bush. Being a telepath, she has an idea of how people's brains work and it's given her the overarching sense that she needs to just shoot straight ninety nine percent of the time. What's the point in subtlety? Say what you think, be bold, no regrets. It keeps people from misinterpreting your motives, anyway. )

Anyone got ideas on how I can get back to Earth from here? I don't want it to seem like it's less important than the former, because really, if I'm not anywhere near Klyntar I'm good, but I kind of have a team I need to get back to. I'm Jean Grey and I'm captain of the X-Men.

[Jean Grey. Now that was a name he had not heard for awhile.

And it was a lovely surprise. Back in the last place he was trapped, Luceti, he and the Jean from his world got to be rather good friends, despite him having worked for Magneto. And this Jean was certainly starting things off how he would expect her to; getting right to the point and trying to find an answer.

A real shame then Remy is without his voice right now thanks to an augment glitch...

Hey Jean, I'm Remy LeBeau, it's nice to meet you. [He hoped it wasn't like back home, that he was 'the enemy' to the X-Men. Only one way to find out.]

( One advantage of being time-displaced was that Jean had heard of a lot of people she'd never met. Remy LeBeau is one of those people and while she's never actually met him herself, she's heard good things, and she's happy to see him. When she sees him holding up the paper with what he wants to say, she taps her head. )

Telepath, remember? I could probably just try to do a mind link. I haven't attempted one since I got into the Fleet and I don't know if there's any kind of power dampener but it's worth a shot?

Thought it was only polite to start this way than mentally shouting at you. [Though he put the paper down after this, sitting back instead and giving this a go.]

Loud and clear. Much easier to do it this way than to deal with writing things down. So. Which version of me do you know? Taller, hotter and more dramatic?

It is, but somehow I don't see them 'nvestin' in telepathy for normal communications on the Fleet, 'nd for a good reason. Sure there be a lot of thoughts out there that really don't wanna hear bein' shared. [Remy was more than happy to keep his thoughts to himself for the most, there was a lot he would rather keep quiet.]

I feel like ya question could be a trap... but the Jean I knew was actually 'bout ya age, still in high school. She be part of the X-Men, but from the time she was from they only been formed up for 'bout a year or so, I would guess.

I also suppose I could ask ya the same thing, along with those extra requirements of 'taller, hotter, 'nd more dramatic'.

( Jean grins, bright, and is happy that someone seems to know the her that's here. Maybe it's not exact - she's a little further out - but this is way closer than tall, red and dramatic. )

I could kiss you. That's me! Sort of, anyway. I've been out of the school for a little while and on a team. I am not the version of me everyone is either scared to death of or worships. Nope.

Yeah, there seems to be a few versions out there, [Just how many more, and how messed up they were, was another thing.] Of all of us, by the sounds of it.

Also, sure the Jean I knew would scoff at those options 'bout herself too.

Probably. The one consistent thing is that we're all stubborn. I just...it's hard living up to someone else's expectation of me, you know?

It's not a bad trait to have, petite, can get a lot done through stubbornness alone. [Before adding,] But yeah, I get it.

Promise, will not do that to ya. After all, may share a name, but still a different person far as I see it, Jean.

( It's such a comfort to hear someone come right out and say that they're not going to look at her to become her older counterpart, for better or worse, and Jean smiles to herself. )

I'm really, really glad to hear that. I'm also glad there's other mutants here - I wouldn't want to be stuck out here alone.

[Remy may not get it the same way Jean has had it, but he has had it a bit since coming to places such as this, and running into others from different universes. For the most, with mutants at least, it seems to be ok. Less so with others. It seemed his reputation really did precede him.]

It does help, oui, nice to not go soloin' this all without others ya recognize 'round. Even nicer when they consider ya a friend, though the alternative can be entertainin' as well.

Who be ya use to seein' back home? Am sure, if they ain't already, other mutants here will chime in to say hello.

Kitty's back home. So's Ororo and Logan. They're just way older than me because of time travel shenanigans. I spend most of my time with Warren, Hank, Bobby and Scott.

[Huh, that was the X-Men team that had shown up for the London mission, interesting... but not useful right now.] Oh yeah? Can't say had a lot of 'nteraction with them from m' world, though ran 'nto a few of them between here 'nd the last place I was at. Though that didn't tend to be for long before most of them moved on.

We're kind of like that. In and out. Mission well done, right? Still, I don't think I'm going to like being stuck here, Gambit. I don't do well with idle time.

I know what ya mean, cherie, I get it. I tried tryin' to find a way out of this place when I first got here, or just proof that what they sayin' 'bout this bein' a whole tv show bein' real, but never found 'nything.

In the end of it, just need to find something to use ya time on between the planet stop overs. Like a job. Or a hobby. [He's done both, even if Remy hasn't really told anyone he's been learning to play Rogue's guitar since she left it for him.]
