[The face of the pretty sword of the fleet comes on and he smiles pleasantly at the camera, bowing his head in a way that makes that wing-like hair sway like the flapping of wings.]

A good day to you all. After a welcome suggestion from one of the captains here, I have established a dojo aboard the Iskaulit. It is open and welcome for all but I do wish to mention that I will be offering lessons in swordsmanship here. Please feel free to come and use the space for your purposes.

[He tilts his head just a little.]

For those who have already asked for lessons, they are ready to begin. I look forward to seeing you.

[Another smile and he ends the transmission.]


Action - Dojo

[He has been rather pleased with his find here and has taken a number of days to make sure that the dojo is properly setup. Now it looks like a dojo one might find in Japan and he's even crafted some pieces of wood into practice blades which hang on the wall. Naturally there are a number of sizes since not everyone will be able to wield the same length of blade.

Today he is in a more simplistic outfit. A modified version of what his citadel attire looks like. Something he's put together after gathering some clothes from one of the systems. It will work well for teaching others to use a blade. And this is how one will find him when they walk into his dojo. Sometimes dancing as he waits, sometimes kneeling, sometimes practicing with one of the wooden swords for himself.

No matter how you find him, he will offer a smile in greeting. Welcome to the dojo...]

You don't look like any sword I've ever used. [Manji gestures with his hand up and down as if to reference all of Kogarasumaru.]

I am a tsukumogami of a sword. This is the form that my master gave to me. However, I am still a sword.

[Easy to understand. Totally.]

[canofmanji]

What? Those things are real? [He really shouldn't be so surprised after some of the other people he's met among the fleet.] So-- do you cut people by touching them or somethin'?

[crow_dad]

The way my master summoned me was in this human form and able to wield my sword form for battle.

[A pause and then he holds up a hand with very long pointed nails. They honestly look more like claws.]

Though I could cut you with these.

[canofmanji]

I'm not interested in testing those out.

[Although that's still interesting. Manji is sort of wondering how one summons a personified sword.] What sword do you usually use in battle for him?

[crow_dad]

Myself. The sword Kogarasumaru which inspired the creation of all other swords from then on in Japan.

[He lowers his hand now.] I am the Father of all Swords.

[canofmanji]

Kogarasumaru? [Manji whistles to show that he's impressed.] That is an impressive blade. And you were really the first? [Still seems a bit hard to believe.]

[crow_dad]

The first sword? No, I would not make that claim. I am merely the sword that inspired katana as we know them now.

[canofmanji]

Well then I suppose I'm a fan of your work. [Big fan of the katana. Very good at stabbing.]

[crow_dad]

This one could hardly credit its own creation. However, I am pleased that you are such a fan of my children.

[He's very proud of them, after all.]

[canofmanji]

Your children? [He chuckles in amusement at the terminology.] They have proven useful in the past.

[crow_dad]

Of course. If I am the Father of Swords then they would be my precious children. [Makes sense, right?]

[canofmanji]

[Nope. Not that Manji cares.] Wait, does this mean my swords back home literally have souls? I've heard people talk about the soul of a sword, but I never took that literally.

[crow_dad]

If they are old enough. A tsukumogami is born after an object has lived for one hundred years.

[canofmanji]

That's good. I'm pretty sure none of my blades are that old yet. [He did steal most of them so he's not completely sure.]

[crow_dad]

If they were they perhaps would not be able to tell you. It was my master who gave me this form. I was only a sword for many, many years. [Just watching the world pass by.]

[canofmanji]

Do you remember much before being turned into a person-sword?

[crow_dad]

Yes. I was awake for hundreds of years. I watched many things go by around me. People live and die. Families coming and going. I have been there to witness it all.

[canofmanji]

How'd your master give you that form?

[crow_dad]

My master is a saniwa. Summoning us allows our souls to be given this form so we may wield our sword bodies.

[canofmanji]

A saniwa? I wonder if that old hag was a saniwa. [He mutters quietly to himself.] Your master must be pretty powerful. I had heard stories of course, but never really believed in any of them. Guess I'll have to rethink things now.

Are there a lot of you where your from? Swords with souls and whatnot?

[crow_dad]

I suppose so. I have not met all of my children yet. Though, there are a fair amount of us at the citadel.

[A shame he doesn't have a picture of all of them under the tree here. Then he could show people here the children he has had the pleasure of meeting.]

One of my children was here for a time. Unfortunately he left just before I arrived.

[canofmanji]

Really? I didn't realize there were more of you here. If any more of your... children- [So weird to say.] I would be happy to meet them. And spar with them if they were interested.

[crow_dad]

Should any of them arrive, this father would be honored to have you spar with them. Until then, I offer myself for you to practice with so you can better match them.

[He holds out his hand.]

More than fair. [Manji grins in excitement.] Maybe one day I'll be a good enough match to keep up with your speed. [Manji takes the offered hand and gives it a firm shake.]
