Bruce Banner (Maybe a Hulk?) | MCU | OTA
[ Getting out of the metal box and onto another ship is admittedly a little counter-intuitive, but being out in the open air is actually a lot better. Bruce has never been on a ship quite like the one he's working on (and it's funny now that he has a reference for this now) and he is actually enjoying it. He spends a lot of time at the edge of the deck when he isn't helping clean or move packages, taking in the experience. Of course, when he is working he's trying not to run into people, which is actually hard when he's carrying a load of boxes or moving large items. ]
ii. Veynar
[ The big island is an array of all kind of colors and excitement, and Bruce is secretly looking into all of it. He helps out with the kite building, even flying one of his own, and marvels at both the air fish that he sees and the starides, dodging invitations for a ride with a demur laugh. But he definitely watches the races. Everything is a lot better than he thought it would be at first and he can't help but want to see the theater. ]
These are all flying islands? How do they stay up?
[ Magic mist power seems like a fake answer, guys. ]
iii. exploring (tempting fate and mist)
[ For the most part Bruce has been avoiding trouble. He doesn't really want to end up on the bad side of any creatures, but part of him does know that the Hulk's strength might just be what is needed to tackle the mysterious dangers of the mist. So he's very tentatively trying to creep through the mists, avoiding the darker areas but still attempting to investigate. He does his best with the cheap breathing mask, doubling up the cloths as much as he can and trying to avoid people just in case this all goes horribly wrong.
But, as usual, none of it really goes as planned. ]
What- what is that?
[ He's convinced that he's hallucinating at first, seeing the monster so vast that even with the distance he can make out the destruction. Bruce stops short, but doesn't flee at first, frozen by the image. ]
It's eating the land!

[Good timing? Probably just good timing. Natasha figures at least she might as well take advantage of an opening while she has it.]
Somehow, I don't feel like you'll be satisfied with that answer though.

[He smiles at the reality in what Natasha says. It's very true and yet he tends to gravitate toward the worst answers. That... says something.]
I just want to know what powers it. It doesn't really make sense.
no subject
[It won't be Natasha, but someone. A local.]
There usually is. Might be it's more of a story than science though.

Someone. I've, been trying to be more open-minded.
[Because he really didn't have a choice. Sometimes you have to stand at the edge of a ship's door and leap right into facing your fears. And yourself.]

[ He looked over at Bruce. What? He wasn't going to ignore a question like that, even if they were in the open, and he was somewhat curious himself as to how they worked. But he wasn't going to actually think to hard on it either. That usually lead to more headaches than was healthy. ]

[ He has all of that out before really registering that he's talking to a stranger. It's running circles in his mind and he just has to get it out. Once he does realize, however, Bruce ducks his head with a quick, awkward smile. ]
Sorry. I was just thinking. It's fascinating.

Well the islands are using the mist as some sort of energy source. I can't tell precisely what it's made of, though we know it has adverse effects on the body if inhaled. It's possible they figured out how to trigger a reaction that produces the power necessary. Or there's the possibility that it's a natural magnetic repulsion. That could account for varying heights in the islands too. Maybe a mixture?
[ He ran with the theory happily enough. He likes scientific questions like this, and he is intensely curious on how this could possibly work, even if he knows they don't really have the time to figure it out. He laughed gently when Bruce apologized. ]
No, don't apologize. I find it fascinating too. Makes it feel a bit like home, asking questions like that. As for what we're floating over? The best analogy I have is 'Mariana Trench'.
