[Shiro thinks Lyall is gone and has preferred to return by his own, so he's back to flying his kite, not expecting to hear that voice so soon. And when he turns to look at Lyall... woah. That's incredibly tidy. It speaks of how used they are to be changing all the time, Shiro guesses. Pretty impressive.]

Of course. [He comments as he starts bringing the kite back down, but he doesn't put it completely away. Instead, he holds it above Lyall like a parasol.] It's this ok or you'd prefer something thicker like my helmet? We need to move away from the crowd not to beam people with us.

I appreciate it, Captain, but I can withstand the sun for a few minutes more. I'm old enough that it doesn't really affect me anymore. It's mostly just uncomfortable.

[He's not, like Biffy, a puppy who falls asleep in the daytime and gets damaged by the sun.]

So you develop resistance to it as you grow older? Interesting. Let's go then. [He does put the kite away this time before they get going to a less crowded area, Shiro's curiosity picked by now.] I must say, all of the things that fairy tales got wrong, I wouldn't have guessed werewolves not liking the sun. That sounds more like a vampire kind of thing.

We do, yes. And I wouldn't say that the tales got it wrong necessarily. It just appears that some things vary from one world to the next.

Sunlight will incinerate a vampire instantly, and too much exposure could potentially damage a werewolf badly enough to kill, although not as fast. I do wear more protective clothing if i have to be out in the daytime a lot.

[Shiro listens with attention, wanting to learn all he can about them, both out of curiosity and wanting to be ready to protect against anything that they may vulnerable to.]

I see. So it's the sun, also silver-- that one does match the stories from home. Is there anything else we should look out for? I don't want to accidentally bring anything into the Blameless that could cause you discomfort.

Well we are allergic to basil.

It won't kill us, but it make us sneeze quite a lot and we can't eat it either.

[Not extremely fierce, he is aware.]

No shopping for basil when we stock the Blameless kitchen then, understood. Although you won't have to worry about food coming from me. [Guess who is an awful cook? THIS GUY.] Is this why you have your meat raw, too? Or that's just preference?

I think the raw meat is more of a biological imperative. It being cooked removes some nutrients and makes it harder to digest. I assume also it's because wolves don't normally cook their food.

[And in their world, the 'wolf' part of werewolf is extremely prevalent.]

That makes sense. I'll make sure to check our meat supply more often too. Nobody in this fleet should depend on those horrible gels, but you and Biffy in particular. [Oh yes, he was given permission to use the nickname, hooray!] I wouldn't want your diet to get messed up.
