[He hates not having a good answer. Part of him wants to blast the stupid thing and see if it can be destroyed. Surely that would be useful to know for later. But they're in a confined space far below a safe atmosphere, and he didn't bring his hammer with him. Escaping wasn't guaranteed, even with Thor's usually inadvisable levels of risk.

Thor lets out a frustrated huff, fighting off the urge to throw a rock at the cylinder.]

[ Loki nods. Shame they can't break off a part. But some good sense must come first. A little more gentle. ]

[Looking back to Loki, he nods once. He's not unaware; he only wishes things weren't so piecemeal when were found.]

It is. It makes me wonder why they would bring the Fleet anywhere near it.

Perhaps they did not intend to. I thought it strange that they made an announcement after keeping quiet for so long.

It might be that they cannot control it all or it is slipping.

[Thor merely grunts in response. They get to work, as much as they can. Thor experiments with how far away they need to be from the cylinder to stop feeling its effects. He would take a photo of the thing if he trusted the communicator to hold on to such things. After this long in the Fleet, he's adapted to the idea that they aren't reliable.

Soon enough, they leave, wending their way back out of the ship wreckage and back into the shuttle. The familiar nausea follows them out, settling right in as Thor engages the shuttle's boosters and starts the long ascent.]

[ Loki marks down the measurements, making a few notes before putting the communicator away, following Thor. This bout hadn't seemed so bad at the Marsiva one before. Most likely because they had been in open space before while this time, both feet were firmly planted on the ground. ]

[He glances over at Loki, a little confused. Thor's not entirely sure what he's being thanked for. Agreeing to take Loki down here seems to be the obvious answer.

[ Loki huffs at that lukewarm reaction. ]

[Ah; it clicks. Expression clearing, Thor shakes his head after a moment.]

It's worth having your opinion on it. [He follows that up with a snort.] Besides, I can't exactly stop you from going anyway.

[Which is what happened the time after their first attempt. But Thor knows now that that had been driven by some mad desperation to prove himself capable. Hindering Loki from trying again would be the worst kind of sabotage.]

[ Loki scowls, crossing his arms over his chest. ]
