Shopping

[Anyone who knows Biffy will know that of course he is going to take advantage of the shopping that is available here. Not only does he need to be shopping for himself but he also needs to be shopping for a certain captain who signed his wardrobe away to him. (Minus pieces of sentimental value naturally.)

That means that he can easily be found in various shops looking through what is available. At times he can be seen with some nicely wrapped packages or with some bags. Never more than a few at a time though. He would never burden himself so utterly with an overflowing load of purchased items. He has far too much pride in his appearance for that obviously.

But this does mean he's quite easy to run into it. Feel free to do so. He's even willing to give recommendations for items for you to purchase.]

Theater

[It's been a little while since he's had the chance to properly go to the theater. This life doesn't appear to really allow for it. A shame really since he's terribly fond of it. He remembers going to plenty of shows years ago when he was but a drone. Supporting the other boys in their artistic endeavors. Even now he smiles fondly at the thought as he stands in the lobby waiting for the show to start.

Everyone knows that you don't go your seat immediately, after all. One must first mingle a little then find your seat just before the curtain rises. That way various fashions can be compared and admired. It's terribly obvious really.

More than likely he's brought someone he knows to the show with him. If not then feel free to run into him. He does love to socialize.]

[If he was and showed up, that would be dangerous for everyone. Ulaz was curious how the abilities Biffy and Lyall had compared, but it was not something he'd wish to risk anyone being hurt considering the steps they went through to keep the Blameless safe every month]

If you are asking if he is a werewolf then the answer is yes. However, I would say that is where the similarity stays. He has been without a pack for too long and lost his mind in the process.

[It's always a dangerous thing for a werewolf to be loner, after all.]

Yes, that was the question if he was a werewolf or something similar.

[He had heard about vampires so he couldn't be sure because he didn't know differences between them]

Is that usually something that happens to werewolves without a pack? Losing their minds?

Essentially. The pack is tethered together. Specifically to the Alpha. It keeps us all grounded as it were. That actually is one of the duties of the Alpha, to make sure that everyone doesn't lose their way in the world and always knows where home is.

That sounds like a difficult but important job, especially when the stakes are as high as the mental well-being of not just yourself, but others as well. It also sounds like this is something important for society as a whole if they tend to lose themselves when they don't have someone.

It is. Being an Alpha is not a role to be taken lightly. This is but one reason. Another is that Alphas are the ones who are the only ones to have an Anubis form which would allow them to change others into werewolves to continue the pack.

I see. So Alphas are responsible for the continuation of numbers in a pack. You are an Alpha? You have this ability then?

[Not that he has an interest in seeing it, but the scientific part of his brain is intrigued by all this new information about werewolves and their packs. There was nothing like this that he knew of back home so he wanted to learn what he could]

I do. Though, I would prefer not to show my Anubis form since it is quite hideous.

[In his opinion anyway. But when you're very concerned about looks, anything that might make you look less than perfect is quite the issue.]

I don't need to see it. I was curious. It is part of a culture I hadn't heard anything about until meeting you and Lyall.

[It's a learning experience for the old Galra. They may be a warrior race, but he is at least more scientifically minded than others. If there was a vampire from their world, he or she would probably get all of the same questions (or similar as werewolf specific questions didn't apply to a vampire) from Ulaz]

And I am glad to be able to answer questions about it for you. It helps to be able to explain my kind to others. Whatever questions you have, I would like to answer them as best as I can do so.

[Because so many here know nothing about his kind. That or they have quite horrifying pre-conceptions about them. To clear the air is most certainly a desire of his.]

I will probably have more as I think on it.

[Also he didn't want to accidentally ask a question in a way that appeared insensitive if the thought came up. It was his nature - as with most Galra - to be blunt and he'd seen enough of how Galra dealt with other races to know "blunt" wasn't necessarily the best approach]

[He laughs softly at that.]

We can finish our tea and return to it. Thank you for taking this break with me. I know I have mentioned it already but it means the world to me.

Perhaps we should do this more often. It's been quite refreshing to be able to talk so freely like this. It could be good for the both of us.

I agree we should. I have kept secrets for years. I can keep some more to let others talk.

[He was good at that. More listening than talking when he needed to]

It sounds like perhaps you need to be able to talk freely with someone who will keep your words secret as well.

[He reaches across to rest a hand on, Ulaz's arm.]

You only need to tell me whatever you're comfortable with whenever you are ready to, Ulaz. But I swear it that I will never say a word of it to anyone if you ask me to. I want to say that now. If we are really to have more talks like this in the future then I want you to feel you have as safe a ground to talk on as I do.

[Ulaz looked down at the hand that Biffy placed on his arm. There was a faint smile and he nodded, placing his own hand over Biffy's for a moment]

Thank you. There are things that I haven't spoken to anyone about in hundreds of years.

[Either they already knew or it was of no consequence in their relationship to know so much about him. As such he couldn't break that habit of thinking no one would want to listen to anything he said outside of it being a mission]

I honestly had a feeling that was the case. Which I'm sure has made it become a habit for you to simply not speak of yourself and feelings to others. That is why I want you to know that I am willing to listen. Just as you listened to me.

[He gives his arm a gentle squeeze.]

Sometimes we don't realize we need to talk about things if we've not had the chance to in a long time. I cannot claim hundreds of years but I can say it was like that for me for a little over twenty. That was still quite trying.

[Ulaz is silent for a very long moment as he thinks about what Biffy said, what - if anything - he needs to get off his chest. Finally though he speaks]

I did mention to you about our group of spies. Along with our leader Kolivan, I was one of the founding members of the Blade of Marmora, which aims to free the universe from the Galra Empire created by Zarkon.

[A pause]

What I have never really said to many is that my reason for joining Kolivan in this is that I lost my brother to them.

[He honestly hadn't expected to be told anything now. So when he hears Ulaz speak, his eyes widen a moment before they show sympathy for his situation.

And he listens. As promised.]

May I ask what happened?

[It was something that had started bothering him as of recently, the more people he explained the Blades to. His own reason for helping to create them was beginning to come back]

Our father was a soldier in Zarkon's army. A rather fanatic one I'm afraid. Being smarter than the average Galra got me out of having serve in a combat position since they needed those adapt at sciences, but disappointed him.

My younger brother, who I didn't think was all that stupid, jumped at the chance to join when he had the chance. I don't know if it was his idea or if it was because of our father's reaction to me.

He was killed in an assignment that was basically a suicide mission not long after he joined up. They weren't even going to tell us anything had happened to him. Kolivan, who defected and started the Blades with me, told us.

So you never would have known if Kolivan hadn't told you. You would have just gone on believing your brother was out there still fighting.

[That's... The cruelty of it gets to him. Especially when he thinks about his own siblings. If someone were to hide their deaths from him.

He knows he will outlive them all. It's part of his life as a werewolf. They will age and eventually die. He will go on for who knows how long. The thought of anyone hiding their deaths from him wounds him.]

I'm so sorry.

That is correct. The Empire became an entity in of itself, one that could not be flawed in any way. Failed missions were something to grumble about internally, never something to admit to the outside world.

His death wasn't without meaning at least. It has been a catalyst for my own life. I don't know if he'd want it meant that way, but it has been.

I only wish that something so tragic hadn't been needed. You are a good person, Ulaz. You deserve happiness.

Thank you. You are one of the few people who has ever told me that.
