Ah, that could be useful, in fact. I'd been thinking of briefly visiting the planet - some of the islands, to see if there are any plants we might add to the gardens. Do you think you might fly me down there? I've been told the mists are dangerous, and it's been some time since I flew one of the shuttles in atmosphere.

Do they take our currency or should we bring some kind of trade supply, if we intend to acquire a few plants? I believe all I need is something to carry any acquisitions in.

They certainly took my currency, so you should be fine.

What kinds of plants are you looking for?

Edible plants that adapt well to hydroponics or plants with medicinal value.

I don't know about beer but there are several bars on the Iskaulit. The people here have their priorities in place.

Academic curiosity only, I'm afraid. I don't drink. That is, I don't require any fluid intake at all, and I can drink, but it doesn't have much of an effect.

So what's the motivation behind the plants?

[Yeahhh, Vision still very much takes things at face value in a lot of situations. See username.]

Threefold, actually. First, for morale - both the appearance of the plants and the food, air, and medicines they produce help the crew feel less like they're trapped in an inorganic environment. I myself prefer to be surrounded by life. Plant life is no exception. Second - it reduces strain on the oxygen recyclers in the ship, and provides emergency backup in the case of a power outage. This is also the reason for the glowing fish; they can be used as a light source when it's dark. This did occur at least once during my previous stay here when raiding ships chased us into a nebula. Granted that the water use is higher, but as I myself do not require a water ration iT has in the past evened itself out.

And third - I'd like to see the Fleet be less reliant on the Atroma for everything. Each step towards self-sufficiency is a step in the right direction, in my opinion.
