He stops then, props his hands on his hips and looks at the mess of machinery and wires. Part of him wishes he could tinker around in here without breaking anything himself, but no, he had to get the getaway driver chip in his head. ]

A little bit? We have magitechnology, but no one in my world really uses it, and I've never been very good at it. But for some reason, when I look at these things, it makes sense! Even though I don't know what everything is called, or the specifics about how it works.

Magic technology? Didn't think those things mixed, yeah? [ He rubs at his chin a bit, thinking that combination over. He can't imagine. ] Get the same feelin' when I sit down t'drive this thing. S'that augment they gave us doin' whatever it does.

[ He remembers his manners then, and tugs the brim of his hat politely towards her. ] Ladon Ceto. M'the pilot here.

Before I came here, I was on a journey. A lot of the people there were men. And sometime I was messier than them! [well... never messier than Lloyd. that takes a special talent]

Yeah? Don't seem like the messy type t'me. [ He folds his arms and leans against the wall of the engine room. ] What kinda journey? Some sorta road trip?

I try to keep things clean, but I would forget about messes from time to time... [ehehe, ooh... but that's a more serious question so she tries to seem less... sheepish]

It was more like a pilgrimage. The Journey of Regeneration. [she folds her hands over her chest. It's hard to imagine a world existing without such a journey, but it dawns on her that those words might mean nothing to this man] Does your world have anything like that?

Not that I know of. [ He shrugs. ] Prob'ly somethin' in the Grail Bible 'bout somethin' like that, but I ain't religious, yeah? S'it 'bout findin' yourself or findin' God or...?

It's about bringing new life to the world. It's the duty of the Chosen of Regeneration to visit temples located all over the world. The Chosen prays there, and at the end of the journey they become an angel so that mana can return to the world, and a new age of peace and life can begin.

[she says it like she's said it a thousand times, and at the end of the explanation there is a slight pause... How to reconcile this process that has always been such a central part of her life, without also explaining what came after?]

Things changed recently in my world, so the Journey of Regeneration will no longer be needed... but it was still really good experience in travelling together with a lot of people.

Sounds like a helluva journey. Lotta pressure for a young lady. [ Though it's less that she's a girl and more that she's so young. Something that important delegated to someone that young... It doesn't seem right. ] You had others with you though, yeah? Someone t'look out for you?

[ Because the only thing worse than expecting kids to complete that kind of a journey is to make them do so unchaperoned. ]

It was a long journey, and we made new friends along the way. But it was really important, and I'm glad that it happened.
